    Newbie!

Welcome, you will love this forum. So much useful information.
  3. Well, guess it looks like BDW does not have any Occidental Grand brides!? Either this is a good thing or bad!? Nonetheless, I their wedding packages if anyone is interested.
  4. I have a travel agent, however some guest are uses their own resources to find airfare and accommodations. I am okay and supportive of people finding the best price! In my invitation I stated: Through word-of-mouth. I told everyone to at least book their rooms with her because she promissed to match or beat any rate. Well my resort (Occidental-Punta Cana) charges for non-guest. I believe the cost is $100 per person/per day. I can't afford that cost! Also through word of mouth I stated that their is a cost if they do not stay at the hotel. I understand some of my guest reasons...which is they don't want to be a bother/inturupt the bride and grooms space. I have said on many occasions that we will be on the other side of the resort. PLUS we are leaving after the wedding to another resort. :-)! Any advise how to relay this message anymore....or should I just not worry about it at this point other than word of mouth?

New ELAN Convertible Jersey Pink Dress 8-way RL407: SML This was an option I considered! Thanks for the link because I couldn't find it. Plus at $35 I was thinking of purchasing them for my bridesmaid. I agree don't want them to spend a lot of money when they are traveling; so I wanted to buy their dresses. -PLUS- I would rather they save their money to throw and AWESOME party! :-)

Please share any details.
  7. I'm getting married at the Occidental Grand in Puta Cana. I have not been able to find anyone on this site that has been there! :-( However, I know people that have been there and they all sing praises.
  8. I'm still searching for the right photographer. However, here is a photographer my wedding coordinator gave me: Photoshop Caribe | Professional Photography in Bavaro - Punta Cana

I've told her exactly what I wanted and what was important to me but she keeps on trying to get me to sign a contract with a resort that is not affordable for our guests. The resort is beautiful, Azul Sensatori, but is way too much. She hasn't been helpful when discussing pricing. She has told me that they price-match but every time I bring up a price that I find from a different website (e.g. cheapcaribbean, apple vacations, etc) she tells me that we have to book the airfare and resort separately. Is this correct? The others that have used destinationweddings do your specialist make your guests book air and resort separately or are they able to put a packaged deal together? I strongly encourage you to change agents! It's not too late, I was told in the beginning if I had any issues to change. Your DWS should be providing a service to you! And as I always say to"I'm the Bride!"
  11. Congrats Beth! I've been a member for less than 2-hours and have found more useful information and support than all other sites I joined. So I am sure you will find your support here!
  12. Thanks everyone for all your support, I wish I knew about this site 5 months ago when I started planning. None the less I'm snowed in in Virginia and will see how much i can catch up in 2-days! :-)
  13. I agree kymkymkym, it's sad the people we really want to share the day with are unable to attend for various reasons. But they are so gracious and supportive it makes all the negative chat mute.
  14. That's a great way hunniebee724. I also thought that maybe my name is first before marriage such as save the date, reminder cards and etc. Then his name first after marriage such as wedding favors and etc.
  15. THANKS!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!! OMG, I can relate to everyone's post. The worst response I received was, "this isn't fair to us" I believe in planning for my guest because they are helping us celebrate our union...but at what level. My focus was on finding an affordable priced resort so that many could afford to attend. I would like to host an etiquette blog for those that are invited to a destination wedding: #1 - If you can't afford to attend simply say, I wish you the best and please share pictures. #2 - If you can afford but afraid of anything outside of what you would do then "JUST SAY NOTHING"
  16. I am still shopping for passport covers. I have found some good options on ebay.com and also Walmart has some that are about $3.99 each.
  17. I have seen both the grooms name first then the bride and reverse on wedding favors monograms and etc. Which is the appropriate way and why?
  18. This question shows I am newbie...and overwhelmed with acronyms. Although, I understand the purpose and planning to do the same what does OOT mean
  19. Anyone getting married here? Know of anyone that had their wedding here? So far I have heard great reviews of the location but wanted more insight with the wedding coordinators for the site. As always interested in any thought you have to share!
