Hi Sonya, I am having my wedding at Occidental Grand. I can send you the packages the wedding coordinator sent me. Your TA or Destination Specialist can help you with your choice also. PM me if you want more information. I started my research on all the travel sites just to get an idea of all guest experiences. Then I reviewed the package and selected what would work best for my guest. Also consider whether you want a children at the wedding that will also help you decide on a location.

Another option if you do not want to use the instant is maybe you can have a friend/family member take the pictures for everyone. Even on a digital camera. The place the pictures in the book when you return and have them sign their page at the wedding. Also, you can make two copies of the photos, one for you book and the other to send to the person(s) after the wedding with a thank you note.
  3. Congrats on your 5 years! Post pictures and ideas you used, I'm sure many will love to hear.
  4. I got my fans from Oriental Trading! I have not received them yet but will let you know the quality.
  5. Beautiful!! I have not confirmed my flower girl will make it!! :-(((
  6. Hello All and Happy Tuesday! Are you planning on purchasing flip-flops for all your guest? If so, how do you decide on size or do you just get an assortment? Are you including them in the OOT bags? I saw where someone had them at the entrance of the beach leading to the ceremony. I would love to know how any of your thoughts.
  7. First Welcome and happy planning. Selecting the resort was the hardest part for me also. I decided to go with the cheaper resort because it was more important to me to have as many family/friends as possible be able to attend. There is nothing wrong with the more expensive resort if that's what you want! Just keep in mind that people you think may attend will not and vice versa so just focus on the big picture. You are lucky to have your Mom help you make the decision, please use her as much as possible.
  8. Focus on your wedding!! I keep getting the same selfish responses and drama from people also, so I've decided to focus on my dream wedding and ignore everything else. I know that is easier said than done. My point is no one is ever going to be happy even if you did a traditional wedding. Someone will complain about something! I know it's hard because you really want to please everyone and I'm sure you would love for your aunt and other family members to be at the wedding. Well at least that's what I am dealing with. :-) Stay close to the BDW family for support and keep moving towards your dream! :-)
  9. I'm getting married at the Occidental Grand, I can PM you their wedding packages if you are interested. I am also going through DW.com so as with both the more guest that book at the hotel the more likely I can get the free package.
  10. I also am going for a piece of mind and getting all recommended vaccinations. I even created a page on on our web site with vaccination recommendations and options. CDC is a great source for information. They recommend going to see a health-care provider at least 4–6 weeks. Also, here is a link to Travel Clinics - they partner and specialize in providing the right vaccinations for the right destination. http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/content/travel-clinics.aspx
  11. Yes, please share! You can send me a PM or reply. I know the hotel changed name and merged with another resort. A couple I know had their honeymoon there last year and said it was awesome. So that's all I have to go by. Also I checked the travel site....expedia...orbitz and etc. :-) I really interested in brides experience. I would love to know good/bad.
  12. Welcome and happy planning!
  13. I'm still playing around with my patlette but my primary colors are blue & silver. And theme...Old Hollywood Elegance.

This could be very stressful for the guest. I know it's all about the couple on their day, but what about the guest. wewwwww!
  15. Wow that really sucks! My heart goes out to both parties.
  16. I love the idea, but I am also concerned with my guests property and safety. I have also heard of guest having items stolen from their safe.

Actually we are in the same budget range. I would have a traditional wedding if budget higher. :-) Glad to know I am not the only one in the lower range. So far I am on budget!! :-) The cost of flowers and etc. has been the hardest for me to predict. Keep me updated on you budget ideas!

  21. I just wanted to add that the tradition of jumping the broom is significant part of most African Americans because during salvery couples were not allowed to marry. Marriages among slaves were not recognized or recorded. However as mentioned above it dates back to Africa. If you choose use it in your ceremony you could embrace the purpose which is the broom is a symbol of cleanliness - getting rid of the old embracing the new. As I always end...please post pictures if you use! :-)
