We are going with Annie Heid Flowers. She is such a sweetheart and personal family friend to one of my best friends from college so it just works. We have not gotten into details yet but so far so good! Like I said, such a sweet heart and very prompt in responding.

I don't have my binder with me right now but I think I was quoted $400 from Della's Dellables and $450 for Hawaiian Isle Rents now those were with other items being ordered so if they were to be ordered separately the price may go up. Hope that helps!

Most of my guests will be staying at Puamana or Lahaina Shores and booking through VRBO and Homeaway. Both are very nice (Puamana is condo style while Lahaina Shores is apartment) close to Lahaina. By booking through VRBO or Homeaway you get to see pictures of the actual unit you are renting and it is significantly cheaper. I have been able to negotiate even lower rates for a number of rooms. I stayed at Puamana for our Scouting trip a couple months ago and it was great! They have a pool that sits right on the water, AH-mazing

Sorry it's taken so long to respond about how my hair trial went! I wasn't sure of what to say! While Karine was a sweetheart and cracked me up I HATED what she did to my hair. I brought pictures and the end product turned out nothing like what I asked for. To be fair I brought two pictures and wanted a combination of the two so maybe we had different visions. I tried to say something half way through but realized it was too late. I hate to give a bad review but it was really nothing like what I asked for I will be going with someone else for my wedding.

Hello! We are looking for a location for our rehearsal dinner for Thursday June 2nd 2011. We already know who we want to cater the event so it can't be at a restaurant. We are hoping for a clubhouse type venue that can accomodate approximately 40 people. A majority of the wedding party and guests who will be attending will be staying in Lahaina area so a locaiton near by would be best. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Sydney

Actually that's a great time it's still he dry season so your chances for avoiding rain are better but not yet "high" season for tourism so there are better deals.

Bummer about Jamie! We are using him for our wedding.... if they don't allow amplified music will they allow ANY live musicians? If not check out the Vitamin String Quartet, their music is beautiful! They use popular songs from all genres - but that would just be a recorded playing music. Good luck!

Hmm that's a tough one, why don't they start bar service until 5:30? I'd try talking them into letting you have a cocktail hour... play soft music (maybe have a live guitar player?) serve appetizers... maybe have a signature drink available for the hour?

We are planning on doing about the same thing as you. Below is approx timing... will probably tweak as we get closer! Ceremony 3:30 Pictures: 4:00 Cocktail Hour: 4:00 - 5:30 (while we take pictures) Dinner: 5:30 - 6:30 Cake Cutting: 6:30 First Dance/Parent Dances: 6:45 Sunset Pictures: 7:10 Dance and Party until 10:00pm!

I know I'm kind of late to post on here but I'm getting married on Maui June of 2011. I'm using Lori Lawrence of Tropical Maui Weddings. Definitely check VRBO and Homeaway for condo's to stay in. I have used both for multiple trips to Maui and have never been disappointed! That will save you big $$$$ and that way you can cook food throughout the time your there which will also save money. Hello, I have written a thread on here before about catering options/prices (titled affordable catering.. does it exist?) but if anyone has any other pricing specific's for what they got I would appreciate it! My FH and I want to go into negotiations with multiple caterer's prepared with an idea of the kind of deal we can get out of them! We are planning on approx 80 ppl, want to do a a buffet dinner and want the service fee's as well as tables, linen's, chairs to be included along with bar set up - stemware, cups, ice, cork screws etc. Any feedback would be great! PS anybody else had issues with being quoted approximate prices on the phone then receiving a quote by email which is like 3 times more expensive? I was quoted on the phone around 90 per person for food/service/plate/utensils and bar set up then received an email where the per person cost was 87 for food alone! I'd love to hear others experiences! Thank you! Sydney

I have booked my wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House for next year. I was told that in order to have your wedding there you have to book a wedding coordinator and any wedding coordinator would take care of the insurance as part of their package. My understanding is that only the bridal party is allowed in the house period. I'm sure if a few extra people went in it would be fine but definitely don't plan on having anything for the guests inside. In regards to the music I think they are just concerned with the noise volume, again, since you have to have a wedding coordinator just have them be responsible. It is their job after all! Thanks for all the feedback! It looks like affordable catering might exist after all! I took a little wedding planning break so have not been on the site in a couple weeks. Time to get back to it! Stacy015 - what condo are you all staying at? I'm hoping to find a condo complex for our guests to all stay at together. Did you get a price break for booking a bunch together?

Hey guys! Just wanted to share that I have booked my wedding planner! We decided to go with Jana Heetland of Exquisite Hawaiian Weddings (check out her website its great!). She is located on Oahu but wants to branch out to Maui. She has years of experience and contacts on all islands so I am confident that although she does not live on Maui she will be able to do just as amazing of a job as someone on Maui. I should also mention I met her while I went to college on Oahu years ago so I already like and trust her! She's giving us a great deal and doing a lot of extra little things at no extra charge because she wants to gain experience so that's great for us! Anyways, just wanted to share the good news!

Sorry to hear that! I lived on Oahu for three years in college and I have to tell you the not so urgent in getting back to you is just the way people are there. It drives me crazy too but its the laid back culture. In regards to people changing their prices on you, do you have emails that prove the prices they originally quoted you? If you have any evidence I'd counter them with that. Good luck! If you don't mind naming the vendors that have given you issues I'm sure a lot of us would appreciate it so we can avoid or be aware when looking ourselves! Thanks!

izbthlr - just thought I'd let you know that I booked the Olowalu Plantation House (I am assuming it is the same as Plantation House)directly to avoid paying a coordinator on the fee. It was SUPER EASY so definitely do it yourself. Once you figure out the date you want that is available with Donna the property manager and confirm you want it she sends you a contract that you have to return with the deposit within 30 days. You read the contract, sign it and send the deposit in and your done until your next payments! Call Donna, she was great and explained it all. Hope this helps!

Ok so the Service Staff fee is obviously the cost of the servers, dish washers, chef and bartenders but what's with the additional 20% fee? That seems outrageous since the food is already incredibly over priced! I have also looked into Celebrations Catering and Three's Bar and Grill... all with approx similar prices and services. Hello! I am looking into catering companies on Maui. The cheapest and nicest buffet I have found so far is Cafe Ole (75 ppl 60/plate + 900 Service Fee + 1,600 Service Staff = 7,000 total for 75 ppl) This does not even include tables or chairs which is another 1,000! I still need to find out exactly what the service fee and service staff charges are exactly but if any of you have had a good experience please send the info my way! Thank you,

Hello! I have been researching photographers and really like the work of Joanna Tano, Kaua, and Kinga photography. Anyone used them? Opinions? How flexible in pricing? My fiance and I want as many hours of coverage as possible, ( 6 - 8 hours) with high resolution images and printing rights. We are not interested in an album or book. Any recommendations would be great! Thanks!
