  1. My fiance and I initially agreed that we each only wanted our best friend to stand as attendants, so we each asked one person. Other friends of mine asked about my wedding party (in hopes I would ask them), and I kindly explained that we wanted to have one each, which satisfied most. Now, my fiance has decided he wants additional attendants. I have no idea what to do because I've already had one person confront me pretty harshly because I didn't ask her, and I know that others, while they understood, were somewhat hurt. I don't think it would be appropriate to ask them now because it would seem like they weren't good enough initially. I explained this to my fiance, but he just says I'm being stubborn. I told him that if he wants additional groomsmen, it is fine with me, or he can ask them to be ushers. He then argues that we can't be uneven. What do I do?
  2. My fiance has seen the dress on the hanger and in a catalog, but not on me. I wanted his opinion since the day is his too! I don't think it is that big of a deal, but to each his own.
  3. I've been doing a hundred pushups challenge and a 200 squats challenge (on weeks 3 and 1 respectively, out of 6 each), plus 100 crunches daily and walking or running.
  4. We are planning to honeymoon in Lake Placid, NY, just a few hours from where we are getting married. We are both big into the outdoors, so we will probably stay in a hotel or lodge in Lake Placid but spend our days hiking and kayaking. I think we are going to stay for about 5 days. Any recommendations for things to do in the area?
  5. My fiance and I met on match.com . He was recently divorced, and I was looking to at least make new friends, maybe more, after the end of a long relationship. We chatted for a few weeks before we actually met, and we've been together ever since!
  6. Welcome and congratulations! If you are open to being away from the beach, upstate NY (where I'm getting married) is beautiful! Lots of fun places and things to do if you like the outdoors.
  7. My fiance Dan and I are excited about our upcoming wedding at the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park! We visited in Fall 2008 on a trip to NY to visit his family, and we both fell in love with it! When we got engaged, we both had it in mind as our wedding destination. I'd love to hear if anyone has been married there/is going to be married there and your experiences with planning in that area. We've already found a band and photographer (hopefully! we plan to finalize things with her this week), but we're still working on other vendors in the area. Thanks ladies!
  8. I think it is so great that he included your daughter! He's a keeper for sure!
  9. Congratulations! Sounds like your planning is well on its way!
  10. In June 2009, my fiance Dan and I went to NYC for vacation. Our hotel was only a couple of blocks from Central Park, so after dinner on our first evening there, Dan suggested we take a walk in the park. We walked for a bit and came across rental horse and carriages. Dan asked if I'd like to take a ride instead of walk, so I agreed. You would think at this point that I would know something was up, but no, haha! As we rode, we asked the driver to stop periodically so that we could take pictures. As we neared one of the lakes, Dan asked the driver if he would take a picture of us in the carriage, so the driver obliged. As the driver raised the camera to take a picture, Dan dropped to one knee in the carriage and pulled out a ring! I was so shocked that I held my hands up to my face in that "OMG, I can't believe it!" pose. Obviously, I said yes! I think the driver was just as excited, and he dashed around the carriage to take as many pictures as he could. He actually got several shots of Dan on his knee. How many people have pictures of the actual moment? I didn't think Dan had the whole horse and carriage thing planned out, but he said it "seemed right" and that he just wanted to get it over with that night so he wouldn't stress about it for the rest of the vacation!

    NY Wedding

Hi everyone! My name is Marisa, and my fiance Dan and I are getting married in Sept. 2010 at the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park in NY. We currently live in GA, so planning a wedding in my fiance's home state can be difficult at times. I'm excited to check out the forum!
