  1. Here is my dress. It was the first dress I tried on, and even after trying several others, I came back to it! I think it will fit well with our Rat Pack band and cocktail theme. Classic.
  2. My engagement ring is a .75ct solitaire. We bought wedding bands yesterday, so here is a shot them together.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and welcome to the forum!
  4. I love both True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse books. I'm actually reading book 5 right now. I got them for Christmas! I'm so excited for the new season of the show.
  5. I've got family issues going on with my wedding too, and I've decided that you can't worry about pleasing or appeasing everyone else. You've made plans, so you should stick to them. Tell them you are sorry that they are frustrated but that you are unable to change anything. They can either deal with it or be quiet.
  6. My fiance's parents are making me so angry right now. When we began wedding planning, we asked for their input, and they gave us zero. We booked a site that is actually not too far from where his family lives, in part because he has a large family and we wanted all of them to come. We asked for input about dates, times, etc., but they stated that had no preference. This past week, six months after we booked the location, his parents began complaining about the wedding being on a Sunday (which was more affordable since we are paying for most of it ourselves) and because we chose 4:00 in the afternoon (since we wanted to have dinner after). They have called us selfish for having it on a Sunday and even offered to give us money if we would change it to a date and time that was more convenient for them. They have threatened to not even come now. It infuriates me and hurts my feelings because we in part were trying to accommodate his large family and asked for input, and now they complain. My fiance is at the point where he just wants to lose what we've put down on deposits and get married elsewhere. I'm so sad.
  7. Wow, I am so sorry to hear about that. I know you are going through a lot. If you think you and your hubby might could work things out, I would recommend maybe going to a marriage counselor, even if just to have a neutral party to help you guys talk about what has happened. I hope that everything is able to work out for the best for you.
  8. I have the Wii Fit Plus, and I really enjoy it, but I haven't been able to use it as much as I'd like because I've been traveling a lot for work lately. When I'm home though, I try to go through all of the yoga poses at once, then the next day I'll go through strength training. I sometimes use the free run as well, but I'll switch it to tv and jog in place while watching tv.

I've been through Week 3, Day 1 so far, so I've done all of the pushups required for that day (with the breaks in between). As far as maximum pushups at once without breaks, I'm up to 25. I started at 6 for my initial test, so I think that increase isn't too bad for just a few weeks! I'm also doing the 200 squats program. I'm only on week one of it.

    I'm new!

Congratulations! There are lots of ways to save money for a wedding, especially if you DIY and use COUPONS!!! Hopefully you'll find exactly what you need here!
  14. Congratulations and welcome!
  15. Make sure to sign up for mailing lists for stores like Michael's. You can get tons of coupons and use them to get DIY stuff for half off! I bought all of my invitations, save the dates, thank you cards, and favor boxes for half price. I also bought vases at a dollar store. They actually have some decent stuff if you can look through the cheap stuff.

    NY Wedding

    Thanks for the welcome!
  17. Hi there! Our wedding is 9/12/10 at the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park in NY. We've done a lot of planning, and so far we've got the Inn for the ceremony and reception; booked a rat-pack band; bought my dress; bought all invites/STDs/decorations for centerpieces, and we're booking a photographer this week! Just waiting on a few more addresses from the MIL-to-be so I can send out STDs.
  18. Has anyone else tried the hundredpushups.com challenge? I'm on week 3. I can already tell a different in the appearance of my arms, and I've increased the number I can do by a lot in just a little bit of time. I'm not sure I'll make it all the way to 100, but I'm pretty excited about my progress thus far.
  19. I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist. My fiance is in the Air Force.
  20. I've been reading the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. The HBO series True Blood is based on the books. Pretty easy and entertaining!
  21. We're getting married on a Sunday. I think it is becoming more common because a lot of places offer discounts if it is on Sunday instead of Saturday.
  22. It is in Letchworth State Park, which is south of Rochester and Buffalo.
