I completley understand, and unfortunately this sort of thing happens and shows who your true friends are. I know what you mean about not affording it, but then making a major purchase. But remember, they probably were planning on going on a vacation anyway, and they knew they couldn't afford your wedding AND Mexico (and their priority was Mexico). People don't want to stop their lives for a wedding I guess (it just stinks that she could have gotten a vaction AND a chance to see your wedding if she just kept an open mind and maybe choose Mexico for another year). Sometimes people don't realized how something so "complicated" could be solved with such a simple compromise. You all have such good friends that are coming, so celebrate them!
  2. Diva, that's what I wanted, we originally planned our wedding for our dating anniversary (which is also when we became engaged), but our first affordable choice was by my college and our anniversary is in october/homecoming and it would be difficult to get rooms, and then it was a destination wedding, and October is hurricane season, and I may be a teacher by then. So summer it is. Your preversary sounds fun! I always wanted to go there. You july girls are a month after mine and you are already sending save the dates? Am I behind? I thought when we do our site visit this year in June, we will take some engagement shots and send those out as save the dates. About a year in advance. We can't even book until 330 days before, so I figured it would be enough time. How are u girls getting to book in April for summer 2011? Flights don't book until 330 days, and I thought hotels are the same.
  3. LOL!!! I can't believe this thread. I saw it and nearly died! I figured I was alone. FI has been playing for years, but only got me to try when we started dating. I figured I'd give it a shot because he sat through "The Notebook" and never complained. I made a blood elf priest and ran around with him and had some fun but was frustrated because I'd die alot. I had a Drainai (sp) mage before that and didn't die as much, but I liked my Blood Elf better (prettier). I didn't truly become addicted, but I played on Valentines day and now I'm a holiday whore. BTW my priest I mentioned earlier... FI deleted her when switching accounts... I could have killed him! He has since made one just like her and leveled her up to where I left off and now that Valentines day just came, I was able to get all that stuff again, but it's just not the same. My FI said there was a wedding that happened on WOW. This couple was on WoW for a while and decided to get married on WoW. They were alliance and had to keep the horde out so they had guards posted everywhere, and my FI was one. I can't believe how in depth players can be. I'm still in grad school, so not much time for games anymore. Maybe when I'm done, I'll try and find you guys (but warning... I suck) Here are the ones I play now and approximate levels ( i haven't played since Vday) Asheer - Blood Elf Priest 41 Natya - Human Priest 32 Bunnie - Drainai Mage 12 (that one could be deleted now)
  4. yeah, they might blow away and litter the beach. LISA - Congrats girl! You must be super excited.. It just kinda snuck up didn't it?!?! I hope it is everything you hope for and more! We can't wait for your review!
  5. Happy April Fools Day Everyone! Don't let anyone tell you that Dreams Cancun is shutting down... or worse, that BDW is closing shop! That would be a horrible prank!
  6. Yay for a Dreams Cancun review! You looked so lovely! Congrats on being a Mrs.

Luciel... very curvacious and sexy dress!
  8. Oops, I mean to post 3 days ago and I forgot... well let's just pretend. The first ten days of waiting are up! They said they'd start on the 18th. Now I have 2-3 more ten day periods to wait. But it feels closer, right? haha
  9. Jo.... so pretty. I wanna see the bottom (i love the way the overlay is cascading in the original and I want to see their version. I love it on you!
  10. Carolina, we are doing sparklers too, but for our first dance at sunset. It will be too light at the ceremony. OMGosh... a new review...finally! I still want one with the new gazebo view though. Oh well, at least a new one will be exciting!

And you're right, I was worried how many fiances would for another date.. they are just boring sometimes. Linhy - my planning is ok. I had a photographer, but he declined recently due to future family expansions and moving, so now I'm trying to get that straight. I like the resort guy (but it's expensive to up the package to full day), a photo/video team from home (near chicago) and a North Carolina photog. I'm just waiting on the best value and then I will have that set. Other wise, nothing much else. The fam knows but it's too far out to book. So no favors or anything have been purchased (but I'm dying to). And I really want these Swarovski Crystal filled flutes, but they are soooo expensive...grrrr. Ok, enough ranting, How about your planning? The Dreams Riviera Cancun looked wonderful, but since it's newer, it is a little more expensive, so we chose Dreams Cancun. I love your resort though, and you are going to have fabulous pics!
  12. Becks - you look amazing... it was destiny for you to find that dress! shoesiesluvr - I feel you, I'm loosing my boobies too... and I didn't have much to start with...lol Bobbysgirl - can I borrow you sister? haha that's awesome she bought your dress, and It went to a good cause! It still amazes me how EVERY bride looks amazing, and not just on this forum. What are the odds of every bride finding the dress of her dreams and it looking fabulous on her! I wish the lottery had those odds!
  13. Alright, I already posted this on the other 2011 thread. What do you ladies think about a Preversary (a little date night)? Since we are waiting a little longer than most brides, some of us are still waiting for the year countdown. What better way to kick off the "Our wedding is a year away" celebration than to have a Preversary date with your hubby to be? We will be in Cancun with our family (they have a timeshare, which is what inspired our destination wedding) and although we will already be done with the site visit and be back at the time share resort, we thought about having a picnic by the water for our Preversary. If you decide to do one too, please share.
  14. Ok, ladies, I just came up with an idea that in my opinion is awesome and I thought I would let you know and maybe it will become a trend! My site visit is a year before our marriage, so we will be in the same area (Cancun) on the date a year before. So I thought, why not have a Preversary date night. Just another date to look forward to celebrate. And then I thought, I'm not the only one who has to wait for more than a year, so you all would probably benefit too. Just think, plan on a date night on the date of your wedding a year before - a Preversary Date! Just because it sucks to wait so long. What do you all think?

  16. Hi ladies! My site visit is June 15th and was just wondering if anyone's wedding was that day. Prob not because it's a Tuesday, but i figured that's a less crowded day to come. I'll be staying at the Royal Sands the rest of the week. But I thought I'd come over for a day. Maybe I'll see someone!
  17. TheOneDay.... do you have pics? Now I'm worried because I ordered one that is not in their online store too. I didn't custom make it though. It is an Amy Michelson and is very different than what most girls order (I usually see chiffon a-lines or taffeta trumpets). The original have a very low back with straps criss crossing in the back. The original was made of silk charmeuse, but guininar said they only have thin satin (whatever that is), so I may have a similar experience (but I hope not). I'm so sorry this happened to you. But on here and many other websites they have second hand dresses that are gorgeous (I would have bought mine, but as it is my TTD and my second dress, I didn't want to spend more than $150).
  18. I saw this at wedding star a few weeks ago Love Letter Ceremony Box Set - Weddingstar

If I could tell EVERYONE to look away until I'm at the front then I'd totally be good Just do whatever you're comfortable with. If that means walking on your own or having a close friend walk with you then go with it! It works out especially well if you've got uneven numbers in your wedding party like me! Won't the spotlight be on your dad anyway when everyone notices that he's there but not walking you down. I just don't want him to be more uncomfortable than he already is. If you walk by yourself, then it just looks like you want to be by yourself, but if you walk with someone else, it looks like either you or he doesn't want him to. Maybe everyone that is going already knows his situation and then you are fine. I just worry (my mom doesn't even want to go to my wedding because she has "no desire to travel" and I'm so worried about what my family will think of her, because I love her and am protective of her and I don't want people thinking "Why couldn't she just suck it up for her daughter's wedding?") I would hate anyone to think that of your father. Wow, that was a long little rant (but it came from a good place) :-) As for Megan24 - as you just read , my parents might not come either (my dad wouldn't go without my mom) so I may be in the same boat. I think it looks very nice to have the bride walk down on her own. There is that moment when all you see is the bride walking toward her future husband and their eyes meet. They share a smile that seems to hide their secret thoughts and wishes. It makes me cry more to see a bride on her own (she goes from being one to becoming two). Man I'm full of cheese today!
  20. Does anybody else notice that besides this thread, the ENTIRE first page of reviews is about ROR! I need some Dreams Cancun attention :-( LOL ROR must be filled to the brim with Brides haha!
  21. hmmmm, I thought I had an answer, but I guess it doesn't apply here. See, there is 'Federal Regulation C," a credit law that allows you to bring up disputes with your bank and credit card company. After you have tried reasoning with the merchant (I.E. hote), you send a written complaint with any documentation you have to your credit company and they investigate. When figure out the problem, they reverse the charges. But I just read the limitations, which are that you have to purchase in your home state or within 100 miles away. The reason I'm still posting is because technically, you probably made your transactions while you were here right? Maybe there is a loop hole. I hope things work out for you. Obviously this only helps you get some money back, and I don't know of any advice to help with the rest, unless you decide to tell us more.
  22. wow! you might have just gotten your idea stolen... by me! that is awesome! I was thinking about ribbon wands if we can't do rice or eco confetti. I don't want bubbles... too many people do it and I want to have some uniqueness....even if I "borrow" most of my ideas
