  1. for the hotel (flight doesn't matter, as I am going this year and got my tickets the first week they were avail for 375 roundtrip after taxes. I just want to get an idea for hotel because I've seen them range from $230-$600 (yikes on anything above the lowest....lol) Also, what if you want a rehersal but not necessarily a dinner? Do they charge you to do a test run the day before? (as long as there is an available slot). I want to see how to space my girls' and my walk down the aisle during the song (I'm using one song that is long instead of many songs that get cut off in the middle). I want to walk down during the culminating part :-D
  2. Kerry, that looks so pretty! You are going to look so beautiful! Btw ladies, I think i stated that the were going to send me the fabric, turns out they meant they were just going to send me a picture of the fabric they used, and another option. So i have no idea if they are going to make it again or overlay it with the other fabric (hmmm, because when i asked about overlaying with chiffon, they said that would make it thick).
  3. Boo, that is soooo sexy! Sungoddess! Way to rock the knock off! I can't wait for mine to come in. My actual dress is a Sottero Midgley, posted way back on here, but my TTD is Gianinar. NSbride2010 - Can I just say you two are going to have the most gorgeous babies! You two are so adorable together!

It almost looks like in the original it's made of silk but once it hits the bottom half of the dress it has a lace overlay of some sort, I'm no expert or anything. I do agree it looks stiff and not as shiny (but those could be pictures...it's so hard to tell), I think we're both awaiting christina's response on how her polyester satin dress feels. It's the same fabric they were going to use on mine and that's a silk dress also which is the main set back for me. Your other changes I'm sure they can fix very easily and without a problem Gianinar always seems to have great customer response. Yeah, the orignal is silk charmeuse and what you see in the bottom is the lining coming through. I emailed gianinar and they are very good with communicating, they offered to send me a sample of the fabric my dress is made of (but I kind of wish they did it before). So, I will see. I just fell in love with the Marlyn Monroe slinkiness. Oh well, you can't have everything with a knock off, right?
  5. In my culture (I'm polish), it's a tradtion to do the veil/apron dance. You pass down your veil to the MOH (to signify her readiness for marriage) and she ties an apron on you (to signify your readiness for motherhood - they don't wait long do they?). In my mom's days, the apron had a number of babies on it. You were supposed to have that many. I think my mom's had four and I was the only... I wonder if she expects me to finish them...lOl. Then usually a dance with the bride/groom follows am I pretty sure dollars are involved. It's been so long since I've been to a polish wedding.
  6. anyone got rates for next june yet? anyone mind disclosing what their rates are for this june? thanx
  7. Thanks! I have thirty days to return, so if your's come back with the same value as Mr. Jewel proposed, I may just take the plunge so I can get the princess cut channel (his is one of the only sites where the princess channel looks thin), I was just nervous because no one I could talk to ever used him before. If not, then mine is still awesome.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son! I hope all is well now. You are right, and vanilla is my fav (esp from McDonalds), but like you guessed, milk is off my list now. I still do have dairy every once in a while ( i just can't avoid pizza and cheese with wine) but, I have found some great soy substitutes though, which are apparently just as jam backed with fat and sugar. I get the cuties (little soy ice cream sandwiches), but the straight out of a carton still tastes too much like soy.
  9. Thank you so much Sammy's girl! I have 30 days to see how it fits when I'm hot/cold (because you can't size an eternity band), so I'm still not 100% sure if it's my ring, but we're closer than before!
  10. Wendy, yes!!!! I want to wear it now, they look so nice together. I love your band. Would you mind telling me after you get yours appraised if it is the same as Mr. Jewel said. Did you get Ideal cut? Quote: Originally Posted by wendyjd Congrats on getting your band Chris. I ordered mine from Mr Jewel on ebay. I now have a 3 ct eternity band instead of the 1ct I could get locally for the same price. Plus they called me a couple of times to let me know what was happening with the ring (diamonds being picked out/ready for shipping...) Are you like me and want to wear it now instead of waiting? I'm so much a kid with a new toy. I wore it at work the day it arrived, but now its at a local jeweler being appraised.
  11. I love your rings ladies! Here's mine E-ring and wedding band (just bought yesterday); both from Jared. It took forever to find a WB that flushes with my low set V-prong and thin band e-ring. And this one was a great deal at Jared because I guess someone ordered it and didn't like it (their loss my gain)! Both rings are platinum and stone on E-ring is 1ct AGS triple zero Ideal cut princess with F color and VVS2 clarity. That was kind of a deal too, because it was originally a G color SI clarity, but they told me we could see what comes in the next month, and then a better color and clarity came for the same price! (I think one of the sales people was a little sad because he was going to snatch it up before he found out it was promised to me!) I can't wait to wear it (in a year and 1 month!!!! too long)
  12. Wow, this looks amazing. I was looking for a way to include a postcard (i wanted to buy postcards from the resort) because I wanted to do something more inventive for the invite and Std. Thanks! I love your vellum invites too! Gorgeous dress, I am glad you went with what you wanted.
  13. Oh man, where were you when I was looking for feedback on Mr. Jewel? I was so desperately trying to get one about him. But the only way I could make sure for certain it would fit was to send my e-ring to him. I didn't feel comfortable but I did trust him, just not the mail. And I would have to have him polish it for $40 when Jared polishes outside jewelry for $26. His warranty is only for a year, where Jared's is lifetime (replacing stones, repair, including labor and materials and all that). Mr. Jewel is normally less expensive, but his white gold round channel eternity for. 85ct was $995 and Jared's .5 caret round channel in platinum was $799 (so I'm satisfied with my great deal). I think I'm going to get my anniversary band from Mr. Jewel. I just don't know if I want the shared princess prong or the channel in platinum. Also, if this were a perfect world with lots of money, I'd really like a tennis bracelet! I'm refering all my engaged to be friends too. I'm so glad you had a good experience. I can't wait to see your ring! My e-ring is incredibly skinny (how I wanted it), so any band is a little thicker, but this was really close (you can see it's thicker because it sticks out a little past the e-ring), and I'm sure a half size smaller would have been a little closer, but I'm really happy it!
  14. Is your photographer taking couples shots of your guests? It might be weird to let every other couple take a pic and not them (beside, BM might really want to order one). Besides those pics, I see no need for her to be in immediate family and bridal pics. My fiance was in his friends wedding and I was his guest and I wasn't in any of those pics (except when I caught the bouquet) and I didn't expect to be or feel left out. But then again, as someone said, she might expect it... No matter what, it is you and your fiance's day. Do what you can live with!
  15. Carolina, you are absolutely right, I took a long time and looked at it, I would go back every other week and drive the staff nuts I'm sure. After two months of hemming and hawing, i feel I have made the right decision and took my time and didn't just impulse buy. I will post pics soon! Quote: Originally Posted by carolina24 we got my ering and band at jarods.. my ering diamond is a cushion cut and the diamonds in the ering band and wedding band are round. i don't think that the round diamonds will contrast badly with your princess cut ering. 799 is a STEAL for platinum eternity band BUT you need to have the right size no matter what!! i would go in there and try it on with the ering, take your time and be honest with yourself....is it a little loose or really TOO BIG?? yes its a great deal but this is your wedding band we're talking about so you want to make sure its perfect!! let us know how it goes
  16. Alright, so update is needed here. Took the time and went to several jewelry stores. Custom pieces were way out of the ballpark...2,000 for a very thin 3/4 way band in platinum. OUT! Then I tried BlueNile again, but still over 1500 for a not even halfway band. Tried Mr. Jewel on ebay, and actually, for some of you ladies in New York, this might be a nice option. 100% percent positive feedback (i think I saw 1 neutral) and a return policy. He's wholesale and the band I liked was eternity and ideal cut (would come with certificate and if I wanted, I could get an appraisal). Platinum 1 ct shared prong princess was about $1320 and .85 ct channel princess was about the same (both were $995 in gold and had e/f color and vvs/vs clarity. I talked to him over and over on the phone (his name is Issac) and we both decided because of how squirmish I am with online purchases, that I hold off on getting my wedding band there, but if I'm ever in New York, I'll check out his store for a tennis bracelet!!! Anywho, then I tried Bravobride and found a perfect band, but the girl never responded back. So, went to Jared again tonight (over two months later), and the band was still there. And seriously, it's a tad loose, but fits real nice and flushes with my band. I would never get a band solely because it's cheap (btw, $799 is a bargain, but by no means cheap in my book). I am a perfectionist and want it to look perfect or close too, and that's why I would get the band. But, the fact that it's a nice deal does sway me. So I tried it on again today, and I really felt that it is my band. I actually am okay that it is a little big because I know my fingers will get bigger (as much as I'd love to stay my current size through my grandma years) and you can't size an eternity channel band without compromising its integrity. It's not wobbly, just .5 size bigger than engagement ring. Plus, it will sit up at the thicker part of my finger too. So we went ahead and bought it today and I am super excited. Another check! Thank you ladies for all your advice and reading my novel! LOL

  19. She already responded to me that the reason she picked thin satin was because regular satin was shiny (i had mentioned I didn't like taffeta because it was too shiny, like coat lining). And that it is a little stiff. So I guess I'm going to live with it, I asked if maybe she could put a chiffon overlay on it... we'll see I guess. And here I thought it was thin satin because it would be thin like silk. Too bad they can't get silk over there. I would have been perfect. I still think it is gorgeous though! It's going in the water, so I should be fine. Can't wait to see your dress. Quote: Originally Posted by christinak82 Hi peterpanpixiedust, I see what you mean. I ordered thin satin for my gown too and my dress looks a little stiff too.. what worries me too is that this thin satin doesnt look shiny... but maybe its the pictures too.. dont think you are picky. it is completely normal that you want you dress to be perfect. I sent at least 4 requests with changes to gianinar and they were always friendly with responding and fixing. I will receive my dress soon. I will let you know how the thin satin feels and if it is flowy, ok?
  20. Southern... haha! You might think so, but I'm having the opposite problem. I am way underweight. I started having digestion problems right after college and first I blew up in the mid section, but then I started loosing a lot, and now I'm really bony in my chest and ribs and I've lost my boobs :-( they are deflated right now). I have to be really careful, because I started loosing my hair too. But I went to the doctor and they couldn't find anything wrong, so I'm hoping that protein drinks work. I want my boobs back (I really didn't have much to begin with....lol). I love my dress because all the detail and the sweetheart neckline kinda hides it. I bet you ladies are gorgeous just the way you are. You should go and try on some dresses; I swear, no matter what we all look like, the perfect one is out there and will transform us all into goddesses! Besides, somebody already thinks we are beautiful the way we are. My TTD dress proof pics are in, check in this thread! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...0/index89.html
  21. Alrighty misses! After 50 days on a 30-40 day dress I decided to email Gianinar. They responded about 12 hours later.... with a finished dress!! I have to say, I am extremely impressed, especially since all the girls who had great reviews picked one already on their website, and I picked one separately (And it is not like a lot of the dresses I've seen. I also started getting nervous after some negative reviews started poping up). But I shouldn't have been. Their attention to detail amazes me. Now, after saying that, I still have some issues (who wouldn't when it's for their wedding). They did let me know from the beginning they couldn't do exact, but would try to do their best. Like, I said, I think it is fabulous, but if I can make it as perfect as possible, I am going to try. If not, it's my TTD, so I can live. But I hope I can make it better, as I fell in love with the Amy Michelson, but not her usual $3,500-4,200 price tags (one of her other dresses that looks very similar is going for $1,500 USED on bravobride!!!) Here are my requests.... please tell me I'm not crazy! I included the proof pics and my correction pics. The link for the original is in #1 coming up. 1. I requested silk charmeuse (the fabric the dress is made of). They do not have it, so offered thin satin or chiffon. I did not want a stiff dress (which is why I was nervous about how it would turn out because most of their dresses on here are taffeta, and taffeta has never been the fabric for me. I'm a silky or lacy type of girl). The original is very soft and limp (amy michelson : Diamond) and flowy, so I was going to pick chiffon just for the sake of the flowiness (is that a word?). But, after talking it over with them, they figured thin satin (which is poly btw) should be fine. I agreed because my actual dress (Sottero & Midgley) has poly satin under the lace and it is very soft and flowy. Well..... the picture looks stiff to me. Hmmmm. 2. The neckline could also be a little deeper. 3. There are also fabric buttons all down the back on the original which I insisted on keeping (and they are not there). 4. I requested a slim A-line, and it sort of looks like a trumpet, but on a mannequin, who can really tell? So that aspect might be alright, what do you all think? 5. I noticed a blue spot on the side of the waist, but it could be a pin or lint. 6. And they told me they would include a bustle (which they might have, but I want a picture because another girl on here requested one and didn't get it). I hope I don't seem to nit picky. I always notice everything, so I figure why not try to fix it. If it can't be fixed, I'll still be happy (as long as it fits, or can be altered to fit). Well now for the part you've been waiting for..... The proof pics My corrections
  22. Interested in the groom's linen outfit. Can I get back to you after I check FI's size? I know the shirt will fit, and the pants seem the right length, but I have to check on the waist. May be a tag snug, but it may be more incentive for him to work out with me.. LOL. I can ask him tomorrow. ladies, there's a starfish passing thread around here if she decides she can't part with the little guy. I know there's at least two blue's and one clear going around. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-thread-19677/
  23. June 18th at Dreams Cancun! Wow, we all are so close to eachother! I have gone dress shopping. I ordered my dress and my TTD. They told me 8 months for my dress, and I ordered it in February. Tooo long! My TTD is from Gianinar (knock off) and that is only supposed to take 30-45 days, but we are on day 50 now... haha! Here's my dress (Sottero & Midgely). I"m having a corset added here is inspiration for TTD knockoff http://www.amymichelson.com/popup_diamond.html Everyone else please show off your finds (be it dress, favors, invites, anything... I'm so unsure of what to do yet)

She told me that technically, the photography/videography cost is way less than it actually is when it is in the package, because you are getting so much for so little. I thought that was a lousy exchange, so I decided to use the credit toward an an extra hour of video and bring my own photographer. So now I have two hours (which most girls tell me he will shoot for with the ultimate package anyway, so I am going to see if I can get him longer without paying when I get there (I'll leave the WC and Miguel-Michael both nice tips first :-D). Starfish bride, when did you receive that offer? It looks like you just joined here a few months ago. I was told this when I first started planning a few months ago. If she told you yes and me no, I am going to sick my TA on her! So far my TA has gotten me my site visit and my corrected contract (Claudia got my reception times wrong slighty) when Claudia was taking months to reply. Oh, and I will be there in June. In case the Terrace is done by then, I'll take pics! I'll take a whole slew of pics as long as my camera holds!
