Starfish Passing Thread
peterpanpixiedust replied to becks's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Hi JanineA, just letting you know my travel dates are through June 29th, not the 26th. Just so you know I will be able to mail him out the June 30th at earliest! The person following me as of now isn't until August, so it should be good! Thanks again. I love you idea of the year thing. I may get one too to join your little guy in my bouquet on my wedding day and have my own to send off for a year! So I can be both a part of an existing tradition and have my on keepsake for later. Â Ladies, if I do decide that, I'll let you all know when so you can request (won't be for a while as I'm broke)! -
Running of the Brides???
peterpanpixiedust replied to TLGnhci's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thank you! I got a sale where it was only $60 for two years, so it will be available after the wedding for pics. I wanted a free one, but really wanted music. Wedding window was like $90 for a year or something and didn't have unlimited photos, then I saw this one for $75 or close to it, but them found a promo code online. I think I had clicked on some other bride's website on the forum (Shea I think), and thought the same thing as you. So I went for it! Hurry up and get a pic of that dream dress with you in it!!!! Â -
IMHO, friend or not, she took on the duty of being your TA, so it's her responsibility to fix this for you. No need to get mad if you don't want to, just explain to her that this is her field and you trust her to do her job. She may have some TA abilities where she can book you even though sites like Apple cannot. What I have heard from other ladies is that when you are over booked, they will put you in a nearby hotel, like the Hyatt next door. You will still be part of the All Inclusive program and get to use Dreams facilities. It is a little bit of a walk through the sand (the back part), but I don't think more than 1 or 2 minute walk from the front (down the hotel strip). But this is only if you are overbooked. If they end up initially booking you at the Hyatt (instead of overbooking at Dreams and then putting you up in the Hyatt), then you probably can't use Dreams without a day pass. What I would do is email (or CALL!) your WC (Cecilia or Claudia) and explain your situation. It seems that part of your deposit went through, so you may still be able to stay at Dreams for part of your stay. Your WC may be able to swing for at least you to use Dreams facilities since you are having your wedding and thought you had booked (not your fault). I'm not sure about your guests thought (hopefully they can at least come for your wedding, I've hear them waiving the day pass fee for guests who came an hour before the wedding and left at the end of the reception).

Carolina, Â I'm so sorry sweetie. You should not be going through this. No bride should, especially us who have to do so much planning away. Obviously I can't speak from experience, but I am sure once it happens, you are going to realize what a great choice Dreams was. So many brides have their reviews with so many positives even after the bad pre-wedding experiences. And then hopefully when it's our turn to go through this, we will have you to reassure us. You know you can't switch now, so the best thing to do is de stress as much as possible and let things roll off your back. You are going to be marrying the man of your dreams, in a gorgeous place, with your loved ones. I hope that will help you, but I am sure nothing can take away all that fear and frustration. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

I will just add to Chipotle's so I don't repeat anything. (btw, Chipotle, those veils pics were great.. nice to see them in action, totally agree on the cathedral now. Just need someone to keep fixing it. Maybe if it touches the ground, it won't be blown away!). My additions are in red Originally Posted by chipotle99 Holy crap, you do have 2 months left, I was thinking that's really soon, then I saw your date, 11-11-10, and I freaked out a little too. I'm 11-13-10! So maybe I'll run into your wedding there! Congrats you two... breath a little, there's a little more than two months there! Â Ok...I'll try to help you out. Â 1. Flowers: I'm doing the bridal bouquet with them that's included, for all other flowers, I got an outside florist/WC that has realistic prices (Dreams quoted me $80 for the BM bouquets, this woman quoted me $25). I'm also using her for gazebo decorations and my reception decorations, I just have to pay the $100 outside vendor fee, but her prices make up for that over and over again. I know very little on this. I was going to go with black magic or black bacarra roses for my bouquet, but it was at least $150, so I just asked for very deep red and could stay in the package. Then I opted out of all the bouquets and corsages in lieu of parasols (I think they are like 7 or 8 dollars and I will bring them. I may just not do boutineres (sp?) or I may copy someone else's idea and do a sea shell boutinere. (just ideas in case you decide not to go with the flowers). I also got rose petals for the runner and the flower girl basket instead of those. I wonder if I could do the butterfly release on my own through a vendor and just pay the $100 fee. Â 2. Reception centerpieces: Again, most definitely NOT included. Dreams quoted me $180 and Carolina got quoted over $200 PER centerpiece. I'm getting them from the florist/WC for $50 a pop, really pretty high ones too with calla lilis and pink roses. I feel like I'm advertising for her and I swear she's not paying me! lol, she just does an awesome job and is making everything I wanted possible within my budget. She responds to emails the same day too, so I feel a lot more secure. She may still be available for your date since it's not on a weekend, see her website here: http://www.floresjulieta.mex.tl/217534_rental-centerpieces.html Again, not too sure on this. I am bringing my own in and got those flags (3) that you see waving on the beach. I think i heard someone say that floral ones cost a lot, but they provide more basic ones (a round bowl with a candle inside placed in sand and shells), and i'm wondering if that's less than the flowers (there a pic of that on my site visit review). Â 3. Shipping: I thought about that, but heard it's a nightmare. If you do a search on the forum, you will see, most people felt like it was a major nightmare to ship stuff, their things would get confiscated at customs, and you have to pay up to 300% the claimed value to get it back (taxes of course). If anything is labeled made in China, it's not allowed in. I'm doing carry on. I wanted to do carry one, then wondered if it would be too much. So I contemplated shipping. If you do ship, Claudia suggests that you do it well in advance and use Fed Ex and definitely not the US Post (this is where I poke fun of my postal employee parents). If I do ship, I am shipping my dollar tree vases for my centerpieces (taking off china sticker first!) and will do it very early, so that if they do get claimed, I won't have to pay so much to buy more and take them on the plane. But if they do make it, one less thing for me to carry! I will let you know how it works if I do ship! Â 4. Cocktail for dinner: I only got 10 too, haven't heard of anyone getting more than that. The included cake is so small, you could prob get a tray of cookies at most for it. I'd just keep it and have it be extra cake. I also got 10. I hear the cake will actually feed way more than 10 people (by brides and claudia). After dinner, most people aren't going to be able to eat that much anyway. I did hear one bride say they were able to trade for these fruit tartlettes, then decided against it. Then, after trying one a day later, really wished they would have went for them. Â 5. DJ- I was being careful with this too as it seems like a lot to spend. But then, it's your WEDDING, and even $1000 isn't a lot to spend on your wedding day. The DJ really makes the party, that's what people will be talking about forever, the fun and dancing. If you're really on a budget and absolutely can't, I'd suggest continuing the dance party at the Dreams club or something. We are bringing a Bose sound dock. We brought it with us on our site visit and it was very loud for the Himitsu beach. Even though it's by the restaurant, you can move the party more toward the water and away from the people. We are nervous about not having a dj to make the party, but I have heard many brides say that it's more up to the bride and groom. If they are dancing and having fun, so will your guests. we are trying to get a bunch of fun songs downloaded and a variety to fit all of our guests needs (if they would book already so we knew who was coming, LOL) If you can afford it, I say go for it!! they have a nice dance floor too! I wish we could, but I wanted to splurge on bringing a photographer, staying 2 weeks, and possible doing butterflies (can't have everything I guess). Â Good luck and congrats on having your dress taken in! lol, wish I could say the same! You guys are getting married so close to my Bday (Nov 8th!) I'll be thinking of you all nice and cozy in the warm sun! Have a pina colada for me!

Does the south suburbs count? Â Chris & Chris, June 18th 2011 in Cancun!!

I know right. I don't know if it's the one you are talking about, but there is one that is angled to view the hurricane boulders, but magically there is water there now!!!! I agree on the photoshop! That does get me mad because brides are going to see that and get the big surprise later. At least I new what it looked like before I chose so I could learn to cope. I think they even have that old gazebo pic still there, the one that made us all fall in love. LOL  Chipotle, I will try recycledbride. Thanks for reminding me, I always look at the used wedding sites for other stuff, never think of veils.  Gotta vent for a sec. I overheard my FMIL on the phone talking about how we are using her niece's children as small parts in the wedding (aside from flower girl/ring bearer pics). REALLY?!?!? That's news to me, and to FI! I love people who not only plan other ppls wedding, but are now appointing bridal party members. Geesh! But see, I don't want to crush a little kids spirit who is all excited to be in a wedding. And I don't want any battles. Maybe I can give them a bell to ring? Any thoughts? Â

Hi, Â I can't speak for everyone (or even myself yet as I am still waiting for my June wedding), but it is basically a starfish bouquet jewel, and it gets passed on from DW bride to DW bride for each to share her wedding with. These little guys have traveled to many destination weddings. I believe many of them come with a journal that you can add to on your wedding day, a little about his journey and a little about how you are feeling as you are about to become a Mrs. Does anyone have anything else to add? Thisisit, that is such a beautiful dress! Wow! And I love the smiley!! -
Carolina!!! I am so excited for you. It's already almost time for your wedding?!?! Time flies doesn't it? I can't wait to hear all about it and see pictures. You are going to be such a gorgeous bride. Â I am so torn on the veil idea now. I never, I repeat, never wanted a veil. I could never justify spending so much money for a simple piece of mesh or tulle. Besides, I thought it hid the train. Now, after seeing a few different kinds, and now that my wedding is approaching, the thought keeps looming around that I will only get this one chance. And now I feel like I might want one. Ahhhh, i just want to save money and I keep finding more things I want to spend. There is this gorgeous lace edged cathedral length veil with one of the newer Sottero & Midgley gowns. Â Anywho, I just noticed that dreams updated their photo gallery, and there are some new pics of the gazebo. One is a view of then gazebo from the new terrace. Very nice! Â Back to student teaching and no life HAHA!

Simone, that dress is gorgeous, kinda like the one that Vacationsrthe best has. i love these new ruffles on dresses. I wish i was brave enough to go for that style. Court, you are going to be so comfortable in that dress.. I am going to be dying. I already posted my dress, it's a Sottero and Midgley like Amanda + Dave (don't you just love their designs). But I went to running of the brides and got my trash the dress for $249 (It's Alfred Sung) Â Â OMG! I just realized that we can post pics from our files, instead of loading them up on photobucket! this new forum is now Awesome in my eyes!

Yay! Can we see a pic? I am so glad another bride found a dress this way!  -
To who it may concern, I got 10 extra guests for not having cocktail, but I've heard of girls getting more guests for other things (not using mariachi). I didn't get that option however (I got two hours of sound system though). Â I am also on the fence about the invites. I am not sure who to send them too. I don't want to offend people, but I also don't want to push people who really do not want or cannot afford to go. Â More weddings! Congrats ladies. I have to keep living vicariously through all of you lucky soon to be brides!

Southern Sweetie is tending to family matters right now, she PMed me and said she would love to stay on the same list as me (so we can pass in person). Southern's wedding is June 11th at Moon Palace Cancun. I'm not sure how long she's staying, but if her time share exchanges, she said two weeks until the 22nd. My wedding is June 18th at Dreams Cancun (I'm staying the 14th-29th). Thanks everyone for working together. I hope it'sfinallyhere's' starfish finds it's way back to her! -
