Hey ladies. We still have to choose where we are eating our reception dinner and do not want to pay for a private, any suggestions to what is the best choice for location/scenery? Would like to be outside or open air at least. Was thinking of Bubba's (nice and classy name haha) or Poseidon because those menus were the most appealing for us. I've seen a pic of Poseidon but none of Bubba's. So far we have 34 people so any insight would be really helpful. Thanks so much!!

Our photog has sent pics of all the beautifully colorful and antique doors in the town. It should make for great pics!! Although I have to say, I'm not excited AT ALL about getting all dolled up again the day after our wedding. I love my dress and am excited to wear it again, but the hair and makeup...ugh! You will fall in love with Puerto Morelos, we spent a day there when it was raining. There's a really cool old litehouse and long pier that will make for some great pics - have fun!

Got my necklaces today - thanks so much! -
I got my totes at dollarama for $2 each. They are chocolate brown canvas with blue handles and a cute blue button closure. Not sure if there are many of those left but there are also nice red and pink ones that are pretty good quality for the price.

We got engaged December 5th, sent out an invite December 30th and are getting married in Jamaica April 20th and got a great price still....and there are 32 people so far! You just may be taking a chance that a specific day or time might not be available. You have to decide if you're comfortable with the fact that some people can't afford to come and what's important for you. We always knew we wanted to go away to get married and whoever could join us was a bonus, it's ultimately about the two of you I guess!

Dollerama Finds
luv2sun replied to isaidyes's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I just bought my OOT bags at Dollarama for $2 each. I think they're the same ones that bikegirl may have bought but mine are chocoate brown with blue handles and closure button. I bought a few pink ones for my girlfriends travelling single since I was a couple short. I also got self laminating luggage tags (5 for $1) at a buck or two. They have a great selection of wedding supplies there too, even the "just married" flip flops and bride/groom luggage tags. Such great finds. Please keep sharing what you find and what you're using it for! -

I've been trying to find time to phone down to the hotel (work wouldn't appreciate me calling Jamaica!) and straighten out which package we're getting but saw that you booked the tropical package, would you be able to tell me what the price per person is? We originally booked the Golden Love package but the extra $50 per person was not worth is so we have to switch now. May have to go with one of the new 2010 packages instead too. Also, did you have to pay extra to book the Blue Lagoon or did they just put aside an area for you? Thanks for sharing!

I ordered a dress off of ebay from a seller in China and sent it back, compared to the original Maggie dress it was nowhere near similar. Maybe for a TTD it would be okay (because of the price) but if you expect the same fit and quality as the originals I'd be a bit leary. If anyone finds one that works out then lucky you! Don't get me wrong, saving a few $$ would definitely be worth it.

Congratulation on your engagement and your wonderful decision on Jamaica! Have fun planning!

Custom Linen Suits $99!
luv2sun replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
MSMOODYR - Thanks so much for posting your pictures! I spent 1.5 hours on the site last night deliberating about which color to order. We're planning to just order the pre-made size too since he just bought a new suit off the rack and it fit perfect. The only drawback was when I went to order just a pair of matching pants for the BM you have to enter in all the measurements, kind of silly when I just want to order a pre-made pair. They already emailed me back though and sent a link so I can order the pants to match the suit in a regular size, very impressed with their service so far. Thanks for sharing all the info ladies! -
Changes for brides at Grand Palladium Jamaica
luv2sun replied to Khloe's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We had originally planned to do the Golden Love renewal package since we can get our marriage certificate here for $50 and save $800 compared to the Caribbean package which was the comparable wedding package. The elegant beach dinner had two menus to choose from and it was served in the Poseidon restaurant, that's what you should have been getting with the Caribbean package (according to the wedding booklet). I'm still waiting to hear back what the extra price per person was for the other 2009 packages (please share with me if you know) but it's seeming like the new 2010 packages might be a better deal at $20pp. So confused as to what's the best choice now, hopefully we'll get it all ironed out this week. Klhoe - when is your wedding there by the way?? -
Khloe - Oh yes please do post some pics, always love to see more!

Changes for brides at Grand Palladium Jamaica
luv2sun replied to Khloe's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Khloe - That's also what I'm considering, with the approximately $400 we save we can have the cocktail reception or something instead. The set dinner menus for the "elegant beach dinner" didn't seem very appealing at all for our group anyways. -
I don't know anyone that has gotten married there or seen a wedding but I've went to the resort twice and it's great. Beautiful beach and a great onsite bar.

I'm definitely going to have to check out the possible ceremony sites when we get there but I've always pictured my feet in the sand when I say "I do"!....I don't want any speedos in our pictures either! I'm planning on wearing my dress all night since it will be the only time to wear it, as long as I'm still comfy. I do have a nice white dress I could change into if I've had enough of the bridal wear, that would likely happen on our way to the disco Will cross that bridge when it comes I guess.

Thanks to Reya for pointing me to the new brochure! I was sent the one for 2009 and it didn't include the pricing for extra people (rookie mistake not clarifying ahead of time). We were booked in for the "elegant dinner" at the Poseidon restaurant but now I'm wondering if the extra $$ is worth it. Sounds like most people are at the Blue Lagoon restaurant. Hopefully I can have a quick chat with the coordinator tomorrow and get it all straightened out then just looking forward to getting there!

Hey ladies! I was just confirming some prices ahead of time so we don't fall off our chairs when we get down there so I was a little shocked that it was $50pp for anymore than 8 people, for some reason I thought it was $15 but I think that's just for anyone over 8ppl. Is this what everyone has been quoted as well? I can't find the extra person price listed anywhere so just thought I'd do a quick poll. So far we have 27 people so it isn't actually that bad when you multiply it all out.

I'm there from April 16th - 23rd, a quickie! Wish we could stay longer but I guess Jamaica will always be in our hearts and we'll be back!

Only married 7 weeks and heading for divorce :(
luv2sun replied to Sparkles8300's topic in Just venting or funnies
OMG I just spent most of my day pouring over all the details of your wedding because it was absolutely amazing. One of my best friends just went through a similar situation while she was pregnant with their baby and they have worked it out. Keep your heart happy and you will come out living the life you were meant to have no matter what you two decide. All the best. xo -
We chose the 4pm time as well. The coordinator said the sun should set around 5:30 - 6 and since our ceremony will be short we should have plenty of time for pics. My photographer will have a list and be telling everyone what to do so I'm trusting we'll fit it all in. We want sunset pics too and will likely do "trashing" pics the next day anyways. I want everyone to enjoy a full day at the beach/pool before the wedding to get the most of their day. Sounds like I better get in touch with the wedding coordinator to at least confirm where we're having dinner since we paid for the beach restaurant (is that the Blue Lagoon?). Only 78 more days, I gotta get a few details down and then relax!

I know there is info on where some people have bought travel mugs but I'm wondering if anyone has found some good deals LATELY in Calgary?....and any really good ideas on putting labels on yourself if it's too costly to get the mugs printed. I checked out 4imprint but the quantities are too high, I only need around 35. Ideas are appreciated!

Hello fellow Palladium Bride! I will be getting married there on April 20th. I was wondering if you have made any scheduled plans for after your dinner, should I try and book our dinner location ahead of time (it's supposed to be at the beach restaurant)?....are there any options for a beach party or something after dinner?...what are your plans for the evening party? I'm trying to just let most things happen once I get there, figure that's why we have chosen a destination (to avoid all the pre-planning and drama). Any suggestions of things we should definitely ask before we arrive would be greatly appreciated! Have fun planning!
