I am doing almost the exact same thing at Patourn. Dinner at Gran Tortuga, with the poolside cocktail reception for 3 hours, so it works out to $11 per person for the special drinks (beer, wine, margaritas), and we hired DJ Bijan, who is $150 per hour... We leave in 18 days, I am SO excited!!!

Spent tonight putting together our postcard packs for the postcard guest book. I never want to see rafia again! LOL. Thank goodness FI is craftier than I am and helped me out!

I think the resort DJ is $190 per hour, DJ Bijan is $150 per hour...not sure about DJ Bob

Yay, glad to hear! He is available for our date, so I am so excited! Small world, he is originally from Vancouver where we are from! Just waiting to hear back from Jazmin to confirm we can have the poolside cocktail reception and I am booking him!

Last night had my final dress fitting, and I was a little nervous, because they had to do quite a bit of alterations. But, I'm happy to say, it fits perfectly, and I love it even more than I did when I first bought it! I cannot wait to wear it!!!! It is now hanging in my closet and I just want to wear it around the house when FI isn't home. Ha ha. We are getting SO close ladies!!!

Aw thanks Lindsey! It really does put things into perspective, doesn't it? You're so right, to have the luxury of getting married on the beach with all our friends and family is truly a blessing!

You are lucky, since we booked through Sunquest, we were told we didn't have a choice, and had to move. I'd have totally stayed if we could have moved to the Sunset side. I absolutely love the resort, it is so beautiful, and I really didn't want to have to start planning all over again with reception choices, cake, etc. So far it's worked out though. Good luck at your wedding, I want to see pics! He he.

Patourn - do you have the pricing for the private poolside reception? We don't want to do the dinner or canapes, just drinks and the DJ. Jazmin is away until tomorrow, but I'm dying to look over the prices. He he. Thanks!

Wow...the last 24 hours have been crazy! We were to get married a month from today at the Grand Riviera Princess (where the explosion happened). We found out yesterday that the Riviera side where we were staying will be closed until January, and were given the option of 4 resorts to choose from to move to. We are now booked in at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum! All of our guests and us have been switched at no additional cost, and they even had our exact wedding date and time available. The flights remain the same as well. I'm just in shock, the last year of planning at a certain resort, and now a month from our wedding it's changed. But - I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, so I'm just going with it! Anyone getting married there? Anyways - just wanted to fill you all in, and ONE MONTH TODAY I will be marrying my best friend, yay!

Thanks! I spoke with Paloma, and she has been amazing today! I am officially booked for December 16th at 4:00 pm! My WC is going to be Jazmin. The exact date and time we had at the Grand Riviera Princess. I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and I guess we were meant to get married at the Bahia! We have approximately 50 guests coming. I am thinking we will do the dinner and maybe a private poolside reception after? From what I understand, the dinner is included in our package (the Remember Package), and then we will pay per person for the poolside reception? Is anyone else going to be there between December 12 and 26?

Hi girls! Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Angie and my FI is Peter. We were supposed to get married on December 16 at the Grand Riviera Princess, where the explosion happened. We just found out yesterday that they are closing the resort until January, and we have to move our wedding group to a new resort. We were given four resort options, the Bahia Tulum is one of them. We are wanting to move our wedding here, and I need to get in contact with the WC ASAP to make sure they have room for our wedding on either December 14, 15, or 16. Does anyone have a phone number for the WC there? Thank you so much!

One of the ones who passed away was a man from Nanaimo, who was there for his wedding. So awful, I am just sick to my stomach over this.

I am so saddened to hear of this tragic accident. We are getting married there on December 16. Apparently it was a natural gas explosion in the platinum lounge (the VIP area). My father was to be staying in this area of the resort. It really makes you realize how fragile life really is. My thoughts and prayers go out to those that have lost loved ones.

I am so saddened to hear what took place today. Some of our guests have been calling, a bit worried. I'm reasuring them our safety won't be an issue. This was an isolated incident, and it was a natural gas explosion from what I've heard. It could happen anywhere. It won't affect our wedding in the least. The resort is so big, and the area where it took place was the platinum lounge. My dad is the only guest who booked there, so he'll probably just get upgraded to a Villa suite, or moved to the Sunset platinum side. It really makes you realize how fragile life really is, seeing a tragedy like this take place. The family and friends of those who lost loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers. We are so lucky to not have been there today.

We are getting married December 16, arriving December 12 My TA said not to worry about the 30 day final payment being due since they are still getting back to me about our reception. I told them I wanted the semi private Thai Beach Club option, and they said they didn't offer that anymore. I told them I knew a bride who got that reception in April and I would like it as well. So she is checking with her manager and getting back to me.

Going through the same thing. Every day she is supposed to call but never does. I am trying not to worry, and like other brides who have recently gotten married there since all the wedding coordinators quit have said, once you are there it all works out, they take care of you and make sure your wedding is perfect, just the way you want it. Still - it is sooooo frustrating when all I want is a few questions answered!

Oh be sure to post pictures, I would love to see! I went back and forth on ordering online or in Mexico a few days before our wedding. I hope I dont kick myself for not ordering them online! Oh, and congrats and welcome to the board!

Aw, Im sorry to hear that! But try to stay positive. At the end of the day, you are still marrying your best friend! I am sure your wedding and vacation will still be amazing!
