Majestic Colonial Info

Windy Punta Cana! February 2011 wedding. Has anyone gotten married at the Majestic in Jan or Feb. I failed to find out that it is windy during those months because it is winter. Was it bareable? Would you have booked during a different month? Should I consider early December? -
Hilarious Father Daughter Dance

Sooo how do I get my dad to do this? Look at how much the guests enjoyed it! -
I am doing the same. Just the single guests name on the STDate and I will ask them when we're ready to send the invites if they have a guest they would like to join them and include their name. I prefer to not use 'and guest' with a destination wedding and few guests it would be a nice personal touch to find out who their guest is and get their name. If they don't know then i guess 'and guest' is ok.

Welcome! I've been on this site for a month as I plan for a Feb 1, Punta Cana wedding. There is so much information already here I'm surprised there are any more questions to ask, but there are and you'll often see over 1000 new posts every time you sign on. I love it! Keep those posts coming ladies.

My website will be the mail source for information. After they receive the invite, a brief card about the resort and travel info and RSVP they can refer to the site for travel forms, packing lists, activities, saftey tips, an intro to the guest list so they know who they are travelling with. Not sure about a welcome dinner yet. Too soon for me to plan. When we arrive, in the OOT bags I want to have a fan and on each layer will have specific details about the ceremony time and location, reception, welcome dinner, guest bios and space for room numbers so we can find each other, key spanish words etc. Wow I have a lot of work to do!

All the other ones you can wear nice shorts and nicer flip flops without problems. We ate at the seafood restaurant the one night and my fiance wore a nice tshirt and shorts and this was fine, a man walked in with his swim trunks and a tshirt and they asked him to change and come back. Hope this helped! Thank you, thank you. That makes sense. I had thought that would be the case but wanted to double check, you never know. I live in my swimsuit all day and lucky if my hair isn't a windblown mess that I didn't want to change for every meal. I know we have to dress up for dinner (a little chilly for damp swimsuits by then) so I can handle that. lol! -
Westjet vacations comes out sooner but the majority of tour operators won't have prices out until May or June and then I believe prices fluctuate depending on availability, specials etc. I'm planning for Feb 1, 2011. Have the ceremony booked but also concerned about getting the trip to coordinate.

Well my FI loves watches and bought one on our last tropical trip. Recently got him a nice watch box and there is space for a few more. As much as I'd love to spend over $500 for one I'll be more economical. We're bringing our own photograhper so maybe I'll get a few fun photos done (say fun cause I can't see myself do anything racy.)

Dress code question I've been to all inclusive resorts before but I thought I read the Majestic has a dress code for the buffet. Do we really have to wear covered up, dressier clothes and closed toe shoes for breakfast, run back to our room to get in our swim suit for the day and do it all again for lunch? I don't want to see a speedo as much as the next person when I'm eating (ever) but it seems like a lot of work. -
Great website for inexpensive stuff....
YIweddings replied to Taghan's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I have no idea what I need but I want to order it now! Great site. -
For another event I bought some tissue paper from the dollar store, cut about 20 sheets to a square size, accordian folded and cut the ends into a pointy shape (that was the hardest part). With it tied in the middle I then peeled back the layers. I'm going to do this again for napkin rings and at my reception. They took a bit of time but I really like them.

Is it a room that you are renting and your reception is out on the roof or what? Thanks for any info!!!! I read on someone's post that although they booked the presidential suite that they had to shut down the reception by 11:00pm because there are guests staying in rooms right next door and below. It's a suite with a large patio where the buffet, bar and dinner tables are set up. It's a beautiful idea but the extra costs do not interest me when there are other options. -
Something you wish you would have packed?
YIweddings replied to JessicaM's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Sorry if posted already. The most popular items used in my professional wedding planning emergency kit are pain killers, all kinds of tape, allergy meds/cream, all kinds of pins, tide to go, zip lock bags, bandaids, scissors, sewing kit with extra buttons, -Pack extra cheap sunglasses, I lost a nice pair when a wave got me. -One extra book, you don't want to be left reading brochures before the week is done. -gravol gives me a great nights sleep -small snacks for in your room (do not leave anything open for little critters to find) -give someone ele a copy of your music in case yours gets lots (Cd or mp3 files) -after sun cream if you're in the sun too long -button down shirt and something strapless for when you get your hair done so you do not have to pull anythign over your head. !! Copies of emails with your planner or TA that outlines previous details if a problem arises. Copies of important papers, passport ... pack these separate from the originals incase the bag goes missing or is damaged. (Also leave copies with someone back home you can call in case of emergency) -

Not going all out with decor
YIweddings replied to Megan24's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I am spending more on OOT bags and minimal with decor. I don't want to go without but I want to save by not using their flower$ and just having a few paper/fabric pieces(easy to pack) that guests can take with them. No extra linen, sashes etc. -
