  1. very beautiful! I would try it on every day if I could get away with it.
  2. I would really like to spend less than a thousand but so far I don't like much at that price, still searching. I would maybe like to finda simple dress then personalize it with cheap finds like fabric, ribbon brooch, flowers (which ever looks best) and of course some fabulous shoes.
  3. When I started this thread I wasn't sure where it would go. It seems I had a found a few kindred brides to be. I am thrilled to say that I am now engaged!! We've made so many plans and even bought a house just over a month ago so I wasn't sure if a ring was in my future. I couldn't be happier and now only have to worry about not walking into walls while I stare at my left hand. All my best to the ladies on this site.
  4. I ordered the pockets and envelopes from envelopments.com which was more than I expected and the paper it was printed on was from a local store. I love that they have mix an match items that fit into each other which is easier for you but will cost a bit more than if you cut yourself. There is also pockets and cards.com (I Think) online which a lot of girls here have used. Try to get sample paper to make sure you like it and order for as much as you can at once for all projects to minimize shipping costs. Find a design you like first, you may not need complicated pieces and think about how many you have to make after 30 I was getting tired.
  5. We're getting married legally at home first, short and sweet with no frills. When we travel we will have a symbolic ceremony with friends and family, walk down the aisle, rings, flowers, dinner, dancing... It is easier to get married here first and I'm trying to convince my FI that means we'll have to celebrate twice a year!!
  6. The men will get just as hot at the ceremony so I'll be leaving a fan for everyone on their seats. I'll keep them pretty simple, no flowers, pink etc lol! Ladies get a pashmina and lots of other items but I'm having hard time with stuff for the guys. Both will be getting Old Navy flip flops and maybe thermal mugs for the guys.

I'm not sure what the flowers will be though. Any suggestions of what would match?? Love this colour combination. I just decorated my office in these colours. For flowers I would suggest white flowers but using ribbon around the stems and jewels on wire stems in the bouquet in aqua and lime as embellishments. This is what I'm doing. My colours are red and aqua so I'll have white flowers and aqua ribbon, red flower in my hair and red or aqua shoes. I'm not too familiar with tropical flowers and what is available there.
  8. I got guys Old Navy flip flops when they were $1 last week, of course I got them for the girls to but I still need more ideas for the guys. I think I blew the budget and cannot afford thermal mugs but may look for them cheaper. I'll need about 15.
  9. Check with your resort? Mine has decided to start charging $300 for bringing a Domincan Photographer that isn't the one the resort provides. I am bringing my own photographer from Canada so he can take pics all week but since he's a guest at the resort there is no $300 extra charge. Or your resort may charge $50+ for a day pass for an offsite photographer.
  10. It's Monday morning and I just realized that I had been scowling all morning. Better relax my face. Then I logged onto this site and read all the great wedding planning stuff while also getting an adorable 'love you, miss you' text from my FI who is working out of town.
  11. I only had a choice of 3pm and I'm happy with it. I want a lot of time for photos and maybe relaxing before the reception starts. Your guests will not be bored and will keep themselves busy. We're also going to have champagne after the ceremony so that will bring us to 4pm. Photos/relaxing from 4-6:30 (it will take some time to walk to all the places I want photos at the resort and do not want to be rushed) and if we happen to pass a bar on the way we can sit for a drink. 6:30pm - head to the restaurant and check that everything is set for guests arriving at 7:00pm. We're on vacation and I want to enjoy it and not rush. You'll make the best choice for your wedding!
  12. There is another thread on this and the buyers were happy with the quality. It takes a while to get through all the posts on here!
  13. I plan weddings in my hometown and know the struggles to get all the details together and meet family demands. Without a doubt I knew I was going to have a destination wedding so I could minimize the guest list and have more time to enjoy my man, and of course to plan everyone elses wedding. If you decide to get married at home, hire a planner, you will feel better for it in the end.
  14. I got my prices and paid 35 deposits. I'm concerned because I originally could only pay for 25 deposits but expected around 35. I can cancel 20% but cannot add more at the group rate. I was able to get the deposit lowered to add more guests. Now if anyone says they can't come and I lose any deposit $ I will be inviting some of you!! Any above the 35 I booked will have to pay more or find a deal. Not a terrible price of $1734 incl tax. with Westjet Vacations. This is their first time flying direct without a charter company from Thunder Bay so they are being a bit cautious. I've also asked for a specific building so we'll see if that works. Invites will go to print this week.
  15. They look great. Your guests will be impressed. Thanks for sharing, I never get tired of seeing more diy projects.
  16. Red and aqua. I was worried about aqua and the ocean being too themed but I love how it looks with red. I actuaully picked the colour before I was sure we wanted a destination wedding but now it's perfect and I'm finding lots of ideas.
  17. Hi Nikita, Congratulations and welcome to the forum. There are a few things to figure out before you start researching; your budget for the resort, favours, photos etc (some have numerous hidden costs); how many people you will be inviting (discounts for more people); time of year you want to travel; what facilities are most important (number of restaurants, scuba diving, private beach...) these items will help you find the best place. A travel agent will be able to get you started as well as trip advisor.com, I found a lot of comments here to. Then type in resort names into the subject box here and you will find lots of experiences. My brother got married in Punta Cana last year and I've decided to do the same because I loved it there. We will be at a different resort and there are several ways we can do things differently to make it unique. This forum has millions of ideas that although it isn't related to your destination will still give you lots of ideas (gift bags, stationery, dresses, family issues, photos...) Have fun and log on here regularly. If I miss a day there are often over 1000 new posts.
  18. I got the prices for our flight/resort. What are your thoughts? 1732 incl tax. I want to book soon to guarantee seats and rooms but I was hoping for a lower price. I'm sure the flight won't be a problem if we wait a bit, it's flying direct from my small city but I'm worried about waiting to book the resort. What prices do you have?

I read 100's of reviews on Trip Advisor, they had so many excellent reviews that I just really wanted to be there. I also found several brides here or on facebook that had great comments about their weddings. It really seems to be a wedding destination resort. There may be a wedding everyday but I'm sure they will make mine special and unique.
  20. no veil for me. I do not want to fuss with it in the wind. I'm either going to have a red flower, crystal brooch, crystal ribbon headband.
  21. Welcome! We've booked our ceremony at the Majestic Colonial for February 1, 2011. Just waiting for flight packages to actually book. If you type the resort name in the search box you'll find lots of other brides at the MC.
  22. Count me in! I got one of my colours last time but I'm trying to get 14 of the second colour (they were out of stock). I used paypal and the first person who started this thread did all the hard work for shipping, it was much appreciated because I'm in Canada. They were shipped to the border which I live near by.
