  1. Stand By Me by John Lennon..... love the song, matches the theme of the wedding too
  2. Hi Girls.... Not that I'm freaking out... BUT.. I like to go to Tripadvisor occasionally and look at the reviews of the particular destination I'm going to. Well, with having my wedding at Riu Ocho Rios, i do check their reviews (keeping in mind that some people exaggarate), the reviews don't seem to be very positive lately... Please put me at ease and tell me I'm going with the right place! Thanks
  3. We will not include a 'traditional' RSVP... I will instead print an additional page (on my own to save on invite costs) where we will ask our guests to let us know by phone or email whether they are coming. Something along these lines: We have decided to skip the traditional RSVP cards. When you book your trip, we will take that as your RSVP. We do kindly ask that you let us know by email or telephone that you have booked. This will allow us to notify the hotel/resort of the total number of our guests. " Not as sloppy, but along those lines. It's hard to give people a due date on a trip. I'm sure there will be several of them who will decide at last minute....
  4. Wishing all the Brides to be and their families a very happy new year filled with love, happiness, health and wealth. All the best
  5. Real friends look at these things. Ok, ok.. I get it that your wedding day is YOUR day, however, if my friend was getting married on the 'other date' I'd make sure that this would be the #1 reason for not picking that date, and then perhaps mention that the cousin is getting married the following weekend. don't consume yourself with her selfishness... just go on about your wedding and when you get her invite, then you can decide what you RSVP. Not worth the stress!
  6. Frankly, leave the guest list the way it is. If not having her nearby bugs you this much, can you imagine how you would feel when she's at ur DW. What if she acts in person the way she does with phone/email etc. This is a special day for the two of you, and you don't want a third party... - my 2 cents.
  7. The motto of the story: Don't borrow your things! Sorry hun.. I have never EVER lent my car to anyone, for the exception of my FI of course, but I drive his as well. And when my friends started asking, when i traded my car in, I took a manual car knowing well, they don't drive stick.... I couldn't live through the garbage.. my mouth wouldn't stay shut long enough....
  8. we had a similar situation with my FIs mom. She's on permenant worker's comp leave, and we know the amount of cash wasn't overflowing her account. We gave almost two year notice for a DW wedding, and 1.5 year for actual destination. We suggested we pay the deposit... but in the end, she said she has a year to pay off the ticket. She is not missing her ONLY son's wedding. For me it's really weird to hear that some mothers can just up and say" Can't afford it".... Realisticly speaking, by the time you do your hair, nails, etc, buy a dress, shoes, etc give a bridal shower gift, wedding gift, you're only a couple hundred shy of the trip cost.
  9. Congrats and welcome back. (9.10.11 was my original date, but due to flight schedule we had to change the date!) ... happy planning
  10. I'm glad you found a photographer. We are going with Brian Nededley. Gave us a really good rate, plus offered best deal/locations for TTD ....
  11. everything looks beautiful.... I love the shoes... and btw -the dress is gorgeous
  12. Congratulations and welcome.... You must post a review here when you come back from your wedding !!! Happy planning
  13. What about the totally opposite ... I'm always curious as to what others are up to and decide whether I want to share 'deep' details of my life
  14. mrs*j*2011 ; speaking from managment point of view, and a person who has dated her boss when I first started my career... It is OK to date your employer, employee or co-worker (a lot of companies are starting to remove this 'condition' from their company regulations as it's wrong to tell someone who you can or cannot love). HOWEVER, if you are dating someone or are married to someone who is your boss, at work you are not a couple. You MUST keep it professional. Some companies INSIST that if you are an item, one must transfer to a different department for obvious reasons. ..... Saying that... Not to be judgmental - that's kind a sick. My FI is 10 yrs older than me.. but not 30.. plus, I can't imagine dating/marrying someone my age... looking at the guys I went to school with - they are still in the stage of chimp development LOL
  15. That's so funny !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now we know why our moms told us to wear clean undies everydays
  16. You just reminded me of something funny. My FI's first trip to the islands. He used tiewraps for his luggage and put the scissors to cut them down INSIDE the bag LOL
  17. Ok... I think I'm the only other person who tends to hold a grudge.. .HELL NO! But I would give up on calling. I'm sure there are consumer ratings bureaus in the states for those kind of stores.. make an official complain. it's not the fact that you got it fixed for free, it the fact that other brides/grooms can have the same or WORST experience.
  18. I think you need to wait next time.... you know what Ass'u'me means right? I think it's ok to do it with your FI... but wouldn't call everyone and say it .. sorry - My opinion:)
  19. After reading all the comments in this thread, I once again, sit here, reassured that I have made the best decision ... only Maid of Honour... no brides maids, flower girls blah blah.. ))) My son will be the ring 'boy' and our two witnesses.... now, I have kindly asked my BF to let me know if for some reason she can't make it... I asked my other friend 'in case will you?'... I'm not having any bridal showers, hen nights etc... so it's really just the honour of being my witness when I agree to spend the rest of my life with the best guy out there
  20. I'm not getting married until Sept. 2011, but I'm already looking around. Like one of the other girls said, with the price of gold continuesly going up, if we find a good price, we'll get it earlier.
