  1. youtube has tons of videos to give you ideas and instructions. Â another good way to start is going to sephora or favorite makeup counter for a free consult is also good. Â =) Â remember to post pix!
  2. I've been on the Freedom of the Seas before, did Western last year (2 full days at sea, 4 stops), doing the Eastern one you mentioned above next month. We wanted an extra day on the ship this time because we felt we could have spent more time enjoying the activites around the ship (like the surf simulator and rock climbing). Â Cruise Critic is a great place to check out reviews: http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=280 http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=358 Â We first went on the cruise thinking we were NOT cruise people but friends found a great deal, so we figure, why not. It turned out there was so much stuff to do that we never get bored, daily activities, rock climbiming wall, surf simulator, ice rink, ice show, concerts...most of the time we forgot we were on a ship....mmmmm and the food was amazing. (If you do the Freedom, try Portofino, so worth the extra $20). Â I haven't been on a Carnival ship, but that itinerary offers some great ports nd first time cruisers might be more comfortable to be on land a bit more. Â I agree with clgriffi7 on the room, don't bother with a window - go inside or balcony. If you have the money a balcony is nice to relax and eat your room service on =) Otherwise the room is just for showering and sleeping, since there's a lot going on. Â I don't think you could go wrong with either, everyone will have so much fun! Â Happy planning!
  3. wow ladies, those are so lovely! i haven't really worked on anything in a while, but now you've got a me thinking about flowers!
  4. same going to tip in USD unless told otherwise prior but i think it's more for purchases at the shops & markets....but don't quote me as I'm not 100% sure on any of this and how enforced this is going to be. but better bring the 'ol plastics. Â
  5. Jennifer, sorry to hear about your situation. Weddings are quite the rollercoaster as is, and throwing these new mixed emotions in can be quite stressful. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end, just come on here to vent, and know that we're sending good vibes and happy thoughts your way! Â Jess, thanks for letting us know what you've heard about the currency there. Hmmm....i'm guessing it's a good idea to exchange some pesos prior to leaving for purchases of knick knacks. I heard from my WC, Ana, that final payment is still in USD and pesos can be exchanged at the resort too (don't know if there's a daily limit). Also going bring credit card in case. Â kshows03, welcome! yes, that vendor fee is outrageous, although I've heard of $500 even at other resorts. i believe some ladies mentioned there are a few loopholes on makeup artists, photogs and videographers coming in 3 hours prior but not being able to walk out and pick up your own fresh flowers. hope you enjoy the rest of your planning experience as February is just around the corner! Â
  6. Quote:Originally Posted by Lisa DSO WHAT?!?!?!?!? no way! where did you see that? Â A TA At the recent Vancouver BDW meet up posted it on the thread! Ive googled it but cannot find anything concrete and was hoping someone here has heard something....some people on cruise critic were saying that it's only for non tourist areas. And some are saying that it's for purchases over $100. Most are saying it's not strictly enforced....so if anyone has any details that would be excellent!
  7. uugh, that's not good....hopefully it's not a common occurance....     on another note.....anyone else of this recent news on the Mexican Pesos?  16 SEP 2010: Effective immediately all vacationers travelling to Mexico will be required to use Mexican pesos only. Other currencies, including Canadian and American dollars will no longer be accepted in the country. The use of international credit cards is unaffected as transactions will continue to be processed in Mexican pesos, as per current practice. It is recommended that travellers bring Mexican pesos and/or credit cards to avoid difficulties   Â
  8. thanks Becky! please count me in! First week of October works for me, I am away the last week of October.
  9. does 1.5 hours of dodgeball count? definately got legs & arms working while heart is pounding trying not to get hit! can already tell i'm gonna feel it tomorrow..... Â who would have thought a kid's game can get so intense?!?!?! (filling in for a friend on a league)
  10. so nice to get together with you ladies tonight! hopefully we can get together again soon. good excuse to munch on another one of those yummy croissants  that's beautiful jackie! i took a peek at the other photos that you posted and it looks like you had such a fantastic wedding!  thanks for a lovely evening ladies! Â
  11. I completely understand wanting to look your very best for this very important day, I love getting my makeup done too but my confidence in unfamiliar makeup artists on my small single eyelid asian eyes and "yellow" skin tone is low. Â Actually, I'm an esthetician with a makeup background, a bit worried I will be nervous! But a couple of my BMs are in the industry too so I'm counting on them to make sure I don't draw my eyeliner all wavy. Â With lots of practice, trial runs, the right tools I don't see why gals that want to do their own makeup can't. No one knows your face better than you and remember to blend, blend, blend. Â Don't forget to take photos inside and out, close and far to make sure you get the results you want on camera!
  12. Glad I'm not the only one......I spent quite a bit on Dior, NARS and Bobbie Brown makeup...and a couple of new brushes from Sephora. Gonna have to do a few test runs to see how long it all takes and get used to putting it on   Â
  13. I've stayed at Radisson at the Port, has free parking, internet and shuttle to the port (you have to let them know which time you want in advance but easy to arrange). Â Stayed there last year before cruise and will again at the end of October. If you get a room facing the port, you can see you ship there when you get up in the morning. Â =) Â
  14. Hope all the ladies with these TA & Mexicana issues are doing okay and things are getting sorted out for you! I just spent the last few minutes catching up and can't believe that that TA had the nerve to come in here and go on and on like that! Â Don't let this ruin your planning experience! Â Sending good vibes and happy thoughts your way!!
  15. see you ladies tomorrow! so, how will we know who "we" are? Â Â don't work too hard Kelsey! =)
  16. thanks! that's great to know because my hair does get quite frizzy in humid conditions but i don't want it "straight straight" just more manageable. Â
  17. is it okay that i am bothered by this??? Â last night i noticed that the dress i ordered is the same one that this gal i knew from school had for her wedding last year. she's not one of my favourite people and i'm sure i'm not one of her's so i didn't go to her wedding, nor is she invited to mine, but we have some mutual friends...i don't know if anyone will notice.... Â my MOH says that we'll just accessorize and style my hair different than she did, but i can't help but feel a bit choked since I love my dress and couldn't wait for its arrival in approx 2 months. Â Â i think i'll feel better once i see my dress....
  18. I'm sure it'll all work out once you get there!!! Can't wait to see pictures and read all about how it went!!! Congrats! I'm sure it'll all turn out beautifully! Â Also have a mango tango! Â
  19. after being sick for the past 4 days, I finally feel better and have appetite today. ate such a big breakfast....don't know where i'm going to find room for lunch but so glad to be back in the "land of the living". Â going to get back on to working out tomorrow, wish me luck!
  20. Welcome! It is hard deciding on a resort, they're all so beautiful. You've come to the right place though. Dreams Cancun and Dreams Riviera Cancun were high on our list as they both have great settings and family friendly. So my vote is dreams cancun Happy planning!
  21. Â i'm at the Royal too! in May =) be sure to check out the Royal thread too, so much great info! Â time will go by faster than you think! Â cheers! Â
  22. Hi ladies,  In case you were curious, here's some photos of the results I've been seeing so far.  (Photo is best viewed closer, so here's a link) http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx183/wongrose/Comparison.jpg  The gaps before I started were from having lash extensions removed.  I put mascara on the last photo because it's easier to see the lashes. Although the gaps have not been all filled in yet, there's definate improvement.  Let's see how this goes after few weeks.
  23. thanks for the info =) the 3 day downtime will definately suck but @ $149, with a cut, the deal was too good to pass up. makes the price of getting the shampoo and condiitoner "no so bad'. great knowing the use of curlers and straighters after is ok. Â
