What are better cruising destinations?
rosieposie replied to Island Princess's topic in Cruise Weddings
Don't know if you've decided yet, I just returned from the Freedom of the Seas Eastern Caribbean sailing. Coco Cay, St Thomas and St Maarten, since we did the Freedom's Western last year (w/ 4 ports), I can say that I perferred the extra port. Perhaps it was because we arrived into St.Thomas an hour late, or it was because the time in St. Maarten was short, we defiantely saw more last time. However, the ship itself was huge and had so many activities to do, everything from dodgeball to bellydancing. Shows were excellent with broadway-style shows and comedians. Food and service are still second to none. Good thing there were a lot of activites and I came home the same wieght I left! Coco Cay had baby powder-like sand, it's RC's private island St.Thomas had clear turquoise waters for snorkelling (and great shopping) St.Maarten we did a zipline treetop canopy tour that was really fun (...and a nude beach if you're into hanging out in your birthday suit..) If you want to see some photos let me know, but we didn't take that much this time =) -
Just have to take it as it comes, it'll all work out! over the weekend i've decided to not let the legal and pre-wedding AHR take anything away from out "real" wedding in Mexico! i'm usually a positive person and worrying is stressing me out. i think it has caused me to have bad dreams about the wedding, so to cheer myself up I ordered the hair flower i've been eyeing on etsy you shouldn't worry either! just pick 2 people important to you and can keep a secret. i'll be looking out for you on Leslie's blog! We are thinking of just asking two friends to be our witnesses.... but if my mom found out I think she would be really upset!! I think having a pre-wedding AHR is a great idea! But I totally understand what you mean about it taking away from your Mexico wedding! If I were more organized I would love to have a pre-wedding reception. Kind of like a way for people who can't come to wish you well and a farewell party in one! I keep worrying that people will feel ripped off if they know that our Mexico wedding is symbolic and not legal. Even though I'm sure most people would understand when you tell them about all the hoops you have to jump through, and extra costs! My biggest fear about getting married legally in Mexico is the stories about people having to wait 6-8 months just to get their wedding certificate! Yikes!

Looks like a one way cab fair from Puerto Morelos should be around $26-30 dollars one way (20 miles away from each other). http://www.iloveplaya.com/taxis.php http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowTopic-g240327-i395-k2497012-How_long_does_it_take_to_get_to_playa-Puerto_Morelos_Yucatan_Peninsula.html We took cabs when we were there last time. The bellman at the front of the resort just waved one down for us, we asked how much to where we wanted to go and agreed on the price and away we went. We went from Playa to Puerto Adventuras for dolphin swim and back no problem. And cabs to Walmart, Mega, Alux.....was just fiance and I, sometimes at night and didn't feel unsafe. A cheaper alternative is, you can take a cab to the ADO bus stop in Puerto Morelos and take it into Playa as that station is walking distance to the resort. We took it from 5th Ave into downtown Cancun and then another local bus into Cancun's Hotel Zone. ADO bus is like a Greyhound coach bus, comfortable. You can get tickets there the day of but they run on a schedule so if you're tight on time, it's probably better to hire a shuttle service or take a cab. http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowTopic-g240327-i395-k3627056-ADO_bus_to_and_from_Puerto_Morelos-Puerto_Morelos_Yucatan_Peninsula.html Hope that helps a bit!

Brazilian Blowout or Keratin Complex Hair Treatment?
rosieposie replied to rosieposie's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Wholey moley! look at the health warning in the news around here the Brazilian Blowout, just came out yesterday. http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20101007/bc_brazilian_blowout_101007/20101007/?hub=BritishColumbiaHome I haven't found anything on the Keratin Complex, but now am weary......must look into further.... -
thanks for updating the list Veronica! it's such a big list now!!

Yes she is, we currently have it scheduled for Nov. 8 right now, but if it pours then we'll reschedule. We were originally thinking Feb next year, but I thought it would be nice to take e-photos around the 1 year mark for our engagement so hopefully it will work out. I'm always on her blog too! She's fantastic, can't wait! We're also doing our legal here before going. Thing with us is, at first we figure we would do our legal the same day as our reception in town, but as the days past, I'm worried it would take away from our Mexico wedding. Because we can't "escape" from anyone the reception day....our whole wedding party will have to come with us to the legal ceremony - and they're coming with us to Mexico....so it won't be a secret then (like it is now)... I had to do a lot of damage control in the early days of intending to have this "secret" legal ceremony. I'm so tempted to get it all done here first without telling anyone so we don't have to fuss on the reception day about it, but two witnesses are needed. Lol, maybe we can work something out together Here is the marriage commission I mentioned last time, Ann Moore's email [email protected] she lives at Kits Pt.

Hi Kelsey, hope you've been doing well =) i love the letter carrier, but it's no longer a secret and is crazy busy on the weekends, but so worth it to take advantage of those special offers only valid in the US. ....hmmm...i once got taxed coming back at PR for under $100 worth of stuff, just my luck that day i guess. there's also hagens of blaine on the peace arch side which would be handy if you're on your way to seattle or something. looks like time for more shopping.... Quote: Originally Posted by beaz2be Rosie great dresses! Way to find the deal too. re: this... I've actually heard that the place in point roberts (called lettercarrier) is great! A friend of mine swears by it. She said you usually only get hit up for tax if it's over a few hundred dollars in value (otherwise rarely worth the paperwork for them) and it's only the HST tax you have to pay... not brokerage fees or duty or anything. I got taxed on my wedding dress bringing it back (boo) but I figured, had I bought it here I'd still be paying that 12% anyways AND it probably would've cost more too. So it wasn't so bad. anyways, just my input on the cross border mail stuff. Yes, the might tax you. But if you factor it into the price it still might be worth it. and its DEFINITELY cheaper than having it delivered and having to pay brokerage on top of everything. Hope your planning is going smoothly ladies. I'm not on this thread too often but it's exciting to see everyone's checking things off their lists Quote:

Yea, definately check out those mailboxes, would totally make it worthwhile! (just watch out for getting taxed on the way back). Don't bother with the mailboxes at Point Roberts though, you almost always get taxed coming back becuase there isn't anything in Point Roberts so they know you're going there to pick up stuff. That's great! Love Leslie, we booked her for our "secret legal day"/at home reception day, May 7 so looks like she'll be flying out shortly after. We booked our engagement session for early November. We were originally thinking Feb. next year, but thought it would be nice to take them around the same time as we got engaged last year....will be chilly, but an excuse to buy a pretty sweater =) wow, 7 is quite a bit! we have 4 each, so 8 in our wedding party and about 20 total coming (meaning only 10 people sitting down) and thought that would be weird but figure it'll all work out maybe only have your siblings be part of your wedding party and have your friends do speeches or readings during the ceremony or reception so they're still involved? it's a tough call but i'm sure your friends would understand. my planning's been okay, looking at favours, shoes and jewelery....my dress should arrive next month!

Hi Heather! Found them in Vancouver but $199 on Hastings & $160 in New West. Since I'm buying the dresses and have 4 BMs....decided to check online. After a lot of Googling, thinking and researching I decided to take a chance and order them online through netbride.com. The have a physical store in Minneapolis, MN and have an A+ rating with the BBB. They quoted $103 USD for each, no sales tax + shipping ($20 US or $50 Canada). I shipping to my family in Cali and someone will bring them over for me in January, b/c I was worried about brokerage fees, being held at customs, etc. which would eliminate any savings. SO I'll let you know how it goes =) How've you been? You missed the last meetup, was lots of fun. DId you decide on your photographer?

yay off work now! but can't seem to get off the forum to get out to the gym. so addictive to just keep clicking and clicking through ideas here..... Â ergh, must go now....

you definately should have the tea ceremony! maybe on your wedding day so you're both dressed in your wedding attire? Â we were planning on doing all of that at the resort but our parents aren't coming due to the AHR so we're doing it all at home, but if they were coming, we would definately incorporate those traditions. don't forget to get some cushions (from the resort?) if you intend on kneeling =) Â maybe you could play some soft music during the tea ceremony in case? Â
