AHR coming up, things are getting stressful on that part due to the money. we've already made it as simple as possible (no cake, limited alcohol, use of same DIY & real touch flowers as DW, no decorations....) but it still feeling overwhelmed. FI had a big freak out over the cost and we got into an argument about it all. it's not like it was my parents who kept pushing, pushing and insisting on a 300 guest AHR. we've just about maxed out the restaurant capacity *WTF* ergh, feels like the same argument from months ago so i won't go into it but it's just frustrating when his parents wanted the AHR but backed out on forking out the cash for it and left us holding the bill. the norm is guests to the reception will bring a money gift, usually to cover their food cost. so we're hoping there will be enough there that we don't end up with a giant loss. just can't wait to get that part done so we can go to mexico and start the celebration WE want.

hope all you ladies had a good bachlorette/hen/shower weekend!!! my shower is next weekend, can't wait~ ---------------- in case anyone is looking to buy some makeup, sephora sent out a 15% off coupon http://www.sephora.com/promo/chicweek/index.jhtml?om_mmc=aff-linkshare-chic-ovg5SUcg7Jk&_requestid=79590

Hi! They're really simple - not fancy at all I did them in Adobe Illustrator but I'm sure it'll work in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint or even Paint. Example in Word - open landscape document - change margins to "narrow" (or adjust so that they're very close to edge) - insert images how you'd like (i went to http://www.weddingclipart.com/ did the free trial, downloaded the 2 images i wanted and cancelled the account) - insert text in and around the middle are if you'd like some text - print in colour on to vellum - used roller adhesive or double-sided tape to tape together - insert tealight (i used battery operated) *since i'm afraid they'll blow away i'm wrapping it around a glass and putting tealight into the glass....hope that makes sense and helps. please let me know if you have any questions

same, i would be nice to have it without the extra cost, my group isn't much for dancing either, just a few people.....it'll still be fun, i'm sure - stay positive. to add some "lighting" i'm picking up some glow sticks and light-up things to make it more colourful. LOL I never thought about the metal inside the flower stems and the pins could look like a bomb but totally understandable since security tends to be very tight these days at airports. my friend was stopped for a large tube of metamucil because it looks like liquid in the scanner. so i guess it would be okay if you let them inspect it in the event they want to look at it more thoroughly.... hmm...... Chances are they will want to see inside your carry-on because with all the metal inside them and stuff they kinda look like a bomb, so just a heads up.

anyone find any pashminas that aren't an arm + leg? online? around town? i managed to find a person at metrotown willing to discount depending on the amount purchased. so far he's said 2 for $15 if less than 10, or $6.75 each if 10, i asked if he's willing to go further if more were ordered but he'd like a number for consideration. so i thought i'd see if any of you ladies would be interested in some or how many and a colour preference. i will post photos he sends me (because I was looking for pink, aqua, ivory, etc and he said he had those colours). HST is included in the above prices.

Hi Bonnie, I got this answer from my onsite wc about the white light dance floor - i was very specific it was not the coloured one.... "The standard set up comes with the wood dance floor when we recently had the lighted dance floor we set that one just a couple of brides in order that they know the service but then we have a 700 usd surcharge for this kind of dance floor." so i'm guessing it was a trial kinda thing?? i totally would consider if we had more people but for the amount of people we have, it's not worth the extra cost. would rather treat everyone to some something fun instead. =)

if you're looking for specificly "bridal shoes" then perhaps try along Columbia in New West at all the bridal shops there or along Hastings + Boundary are some more. but if you're looking for "nice evening-type" shoes you can try Holt Renfrew, Where Else?, Freedman Shoes or B2. I also saw some pretty shoes at Aldo yesterday. I love the shoes at: www.ninashoes.com (really comfy and pretty shoes) they ship to Canada but ended up getting a pair online at DSW www.dswshoes.com and driving to Blaine to pick them up. If you're looking online there's always good 'ol Nordstrom, Saks 5th Ave, and Neiman Marcus which have fabulous shoes. happy shopping~~

lovely dresses ladies! almost makes me want to go out and try on dresses again....maybe....... i'm going in for my 3rd and final fitting on Friday and I think i love my Paigely even more than I did when I first tried it on! I didn't need anything taken in but definately needed a hem. LOL, maybe i love it more now because the length is (almost) perfect.

thanks! i ordered them off of ebay - BUT THEY HAVEN'T ARRIVED YET. I'm acutally quite annoyed at them since i ordered mid-feb but they haven't arrived. selleer said they have re-shipped them last week after i messaged them. i figure if they don't arrive in time I will either pick some up from this store near my house or just forget about them all together. i noticed your in New York, a lot of ladies on BDW ordered theirs from http://www.pioneergroup27.com/ i believe they're http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/63599/pashminas-pioneer-group i believe they would be local for you to go visit their store =)

thanks! they're super easy to make and personalize, i've been trying a few things to keep it from blowing away. EXACTLY! i figure I'll bring some double sided tape with me (plus it's handy in case you need to stick other things). i thought about rolling them into a mail tube thingie, so they don't get squished because any creases in vellum are very obvious but only if i find one that doesn't cost $10 otherwise, into the suitcase with some cardboard it will go.

I guess grass is greener on the other side, I want to go there, you want to come here. My FI is from Winnipeg, says it's super cold and not much there....come to Vancouver!!! =) we've got beaches, moutains, city life + "small town" life within driving distance. or what Bonnie said, Montreal is beautiful. Toronto is fun too, but feels more crowded and "rush rush rush". I SEE, hahahha we have "L" signs too but they are magnetic. we also have "N" signs (one level up from the L). Pole dancing was a lot of work while trying to "stay sexy" but super fun, there are studios here that offer pole dancing as fitness classes so if you have something like that where you live, you should definately try it. Its something us brits do... I take it its something that doesnt happen where you are?:-) Pole dancing... now thats what id like to do.... - x yes, we love to travel so depending on funds after the wedding, we're going to try to hit the big must-sees before kids. Hahahaha you're so funny! but there really isn't much there....my FI drove from Vancouver to Winnipeg and his photos of the view look very similar after a while. nothing but flat prairie land. must go back for some "ooh-lala" =) Quote: Originally Posted by prettypigpig Nicola, Yes, we have the L-plate equivalent here, we put it on the top of the car! If u wanna do Europe and Canada at the same time, come to Quebec! We have european buildings, we speak french, and tons of french immigrants to give u the oh la la feel! Scotland is very beautiful and since Edinburgh is a financial hub where Scottish Widows and Martin Currie are based, I guess I wouldn't mind to live there! hope you have a fabulous hen! =) if you fly over to check out vegas, you can do california as well to make it worth the flight out. when i get the photos from the girls i'll post some. surprisingly it stayed on while i spun around the pole never in a million years would i think i would do something like that in public but it was very fun so definately try pole dancing, you feel very sexy after. that sounds cool but $120 is quite steep for a cake topper. same, i saw someone with a white light dance floor and then some with a dark wood one, not sure which is the standard or how it all works. i had asked my WC about it and she sent me a photo with the dark wood one saying it's the standard but no heard of white light one. perhaps the on-site WC would be more familiar. I'll let you know if I find out anything. mondays are so blah.....i keep finding myself on BDW today to perk things up, not productive at all~~~~~

@diahr, you looked gorgeous! amazing photos! yes "towel game" is silly but definately happens often at all inclusives. my coworker was there last year and said it was common to see towels with no one coming back to use the chairs for hours if at all. she said it happens more so for chairs around the pool than beach beds out on the beach. i agree with kelly, i don't see any harm in using a spot that someone put a towel on until someone "re-claims" it, especially if it's crowded. it's an "adults only" resort, sure hope no one would be childish enough to freak out over you using their "reserved" chair. Quote: Originally Posted by kellygrrrl I believe the only reserved bungalows are those dedicated to the people who rent the beach-front rooms, and they have little placards with the room numbers on them. when my mom and I were at the royal, we'd occasionally use theirs until the true owners showed up (which never happened, and no one asked us to leave in the meantime). there were other un-reserved cabanas, but it was my experience most people wanted to be around the pool due to the music and activities there. the towel game is in effect, so if you're up early, you'll have your pick of the place. and honestly, I see no harm in using something that's 'reserved' with a towel until the 'owners' show up. it's silly, really. i made my final payment last thursday!!!!!! super excited!!! final fitting on Friday, and i'm waiting to hear back from Ana about who my onsite coordinator is, i sure hope i haven't forgotten anything. just trying to tie up some loose ends here and there. i just bought some cute personalize makeup bags and necklaces on etsy for my BM, can't wait to see them. i was planning on using a shell for the rings but then i saw the ceramic-type bowls and couldn't resist. etsy has too many temptations! there's a cake topper that's too cute but with shipping to canada is over $50 and i can't justify that. guess it's normal to get these butterflies when i look at the calendar huh?

Glad I'm not the only one!!!! I haven't bought anything non-wedding in so long and then I went a little crazy shopping while in Vegas for my bachlorette party. shorts, skirts and dresses.....it was madness but couldn't find swinsuits but was and still looking. Quote: Originally Posted by deannamarie85 Okay, so this might be another silly question....BUT is any one else going a little shopping crazy on clothes, shoes, hats, etc for the DW? I have sundresses, sandals, beach purse, swimsuits, etc! LOL

WOW!!! sounds like you had such an amazing time and so much fun! mmmmm that chocolate lounge and champagne brunch sounds yummy!! europe is one of my must-see places, and i had to google Edinburgh, it looks so beautiful!!! i can't acess FB at work but I'll definately check it out when i get home. silly question, what are "L" plates? i had my bachlorette party last weekend, we went to vegas for 4 days and had a lot of fun, went clubbing, shopping, gambling, and pole dancing. the first night out the girls made me wear a veil, pink wig and a sash. i kinda wish i had brought them something to wear too but i never thought they'd make me wear a bright pink wig! oh and then there were "tasks" - otherwise i'd never throw out those pole dance moves in public let alone spin on the thing. i also have never laughed so much in a weekend, nor have my feet ever hurt so much from long walks in high heels before but i would do it again! May is really next month isn't it??? Quote: Originally Posted by Nicyx OMG im back from my "HEN" weekend & i have had the best best time ever!! Brilliant, 7 of us stayed in apt and FSIL met us on the sat night for meal etc :-) Luckily i booked today off work, so glad i did as i just dont think i would have made it,,,, To cut a long story short..... We got to Edinburgh fri night, sat nav got us lost but we didnt mind as we found Edinburgh castle so we got out and had a few pix, what a beautiful place!! When we got to apts 2 of my friends were already there and had already started the party :-) We had a fun night, drinking games etc. Up early on sat (slightly hung over) showered and headed to the main shops AND OMG the weather, i dont think i could have chosen a better weekend if i tried!!!! Firstly we went to Harvey Nic's Chocolate lounge, for choc treats and champagne breakfast, we then went shopping then thought "beer garden" weather was too nice so we jumped a cab and went to the grassmarket and found an open top terrace bar where we had luch and a few drinks before heading back to the apt to get ready for the night ahead.... I have never laughed so much in all my life, my stomach is still hurting now!!! We got ready, i had a veil, "L" plates and one of my friends had arranged sashes for everyone saying "Nicola's Hen Night 2011" on one side and "names" on the other and on my sash is said "The Future MRS. Creely" on one side and "name" on other side.... We then got taxis to "zizis" where we had our meal, which when the bill came the girls all chipped in and paid for mine :-) Lovely x By the time we left restaurant it was 10.15pm ..... time to hit the pubs ..... what a laugh .... :-) 4.30am ish we rolled in and that was only because everywhere was closing..... didnt think i still had it in me.... haha!!! LOVE EDINBURGH, never been before, what a beautiful place :-) Would do it all again in a heart beat!!!! PIX ON FB!!!!!! If you wana see??? http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=743556004&aid=341187 (duno if this works???) xoxox

i was wondering the same thing, i want to carry it on too, but worried about those pins. then thought of checking it but it came in this large box that takes up so much room....but my girlfriend flew it back by carry-on from Ontario for me.....hmmm, i think i'll call/email the airline and ask but if any of you ladies find out before, please let us know =) same, i would be disappointed if i went ahead with tipped $100 thinking we were going to get "special treatment" and it didn't happen - or worse, bad service. but i do see the point about tipping first where there's a chance the staff would be more willing to go the extra mile for you that day, especially if there are other weddings happening at the same time.....ergh. looks like everyone's really on the ball here, last week was a bit of a write-off for me between working, working out and recovering from the bachlorette party. so here i am on the planning front: - i took BD photos on saturday and it was so much fun! but it also made me realize how pale i actually look, and i have been contemplating on hitting some tanning to get a base in case i burn. i've tried those spray tans but i think it just brings out my yellow undertones =S - the pashminas i ordered mid-february from ebay did not arrive, they said they would send again but can't guarantee they'll be here in time, not an extremely big deal - but annoying. - need to finalize the menu with the restaurant for AHR this weekend - decided on wedding bands - finished our wedding dance - went to 2nd fitting, 3rd and final on Friday - working on printing out menus - working on shower gifts - need to paint 'shoes optional' sign there's probably more stuff and i'm starting to feel forgetful (bad time) but here comes my boss so it's back to work for me!

it is CRAZY! i just got back from a few days in vegas with my girlfriends for my bachlorette party (soooo much fun! but i still can't believe some of the things they made me do.....) besides trying to catch up with work, i find myself not wanting to do too much. 2nd fitting on friday, BD photos saturday, bootcamp, laser hair removal, facial, nails, 10km run, AHR planning/meeting with the restaurant....bridal shower.....feels like things are all happening at once! glad we're in this together we leave 6 weeks from today!!!! (pre-wedding) AHR in exactly 30 days!!! ahhhhhh!!!! Quote: Originally Posted by deannamarie85 Fellow May 2011 Brides, Does anyone else feel like their calendar is CRAZY packed until the big day!
