Bringing Real Rings With You?

A jewellery cloth is also a good add-on. -
Newbie... Still in search of perfect destination
rosieposie replied to MichelleMace's topic in Newbies!!
congrats! it can be fun and a headache trying to choose a resort, take your time and do lots of research and work with a TA. We chose The Royal PDC, the only thing is, it's adults only (though i think kids are allowed for the ceremony), The Gran Porto Real is right next door and is family friendly, in a great area of town. Some hotels have 2011 pricing out already but is looking on the higher but my TA says to keep an eye out for reductions. Good luck & Happy planning! -
Congrats and welcome! This forum has so much great info and the ladies here are super nice and informative...warning: it's addictive!!!

10 Tips for Travelling Healthy and for Travellers with Allergies
rosieposie replied to priyanjan's topic in Honeymoon Forum
Thanks! Those are great! Both my FI and I are major allergy sufferers. Our naturapath doctor says Vitamin C is also helps ease allergy symptoms! (Also helps boost the good 'ol immune system while you're away) -
Bringing Real Rings With You?
rosieposie replied to rosieposie's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
yes, i would like to have them in photos too. i have my e-ring insured already, we have yet to choose bands but great knowing that it's not something i'm the only one worried about! definately have to not be flashy about them around town and good thinking about not taking it off....i take it off before sleeping because i use a heavy hand cream at night due to eczema....will have to work around that while there. thanks! -
My TA suggested we exchange fake or costume jewellery rings for our ceremony in case anything happens to the real ones while we're away. My preference is to use our real ones, because using fake ones feels..."fake"... but I guess I can see where she's coming from, it's in case we lose them, damage them or attract robbers or something. I'm just wondering if anyone has considered this and if its worth thinking of doing. Are you taking your engagement ring with you too?

Weird If I Walk Myself Down the Aisle?
rosieposie replied to rosieposie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
aww thanks again ladies a coworker overheard my conversation about this with a (close) coworker and said "it's such a shame your father doesn't want to walk you down the aisle. That doesn't make for a very good start to a marriage". i was so shocked i didn't know what to say. she made me want to run to the washroom and cry....but maybe i'm just being too sensitive..... we're already having a chinese tea ceremony beforehand - the part our parents really want us to have, so the western ceremony doesn't mean much to them, it's for us. much better now. yup. its what i want, who cares what ppl might say, as long as we're happy. -

Weird If I Walk Myself Down the Aisle?
rosieposie replied to rosieposie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Thanks ladies!! great knowing that I'm not the only one, was starting to sweat a bit there... -
Neither of our parents want to go to our Mexico wedding - we are having a large banquet 2 weeks beforehand in-town (which our parents want & insisted ... so we are...) and they feel that that is already our wedding, so they don't want to go to Mexico to the DW we want. I was thinking my younger brother but he's a student with student loans. It would be nice to have them all there, but our parents english is limited and don't like the heat, we would hate for them not to have a good time or have our friends try to entertain them. SO, would it be weird if I walked myself down the aisle, or should I ask one of my guy friends to do it ... or stretch my budget (already looking a bit stretched) and pay for my brother to come along?

Breakaway Bouquet Toss
rosieposie replied to 4nyree's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
i love the idea, i was thinking the same sort of thing, was thinking to put this on a little tag on a ribbon or something. kinda silly & cheesey tho Roses are red, Violets are blue, You caught the bouquet So next will be you! -
I got a quote back from Air Canada with $2050 + 238 taxes... flights, transfers, and hotel and included but that way more than what more of my guests are expecting to pay (Also the $1500 - 1700 range). Sure its AI, but they'll want some money to do excursions and shopping. I stumbled upon this site when I was searching about for May 2011 rates. www.weknowmexico.com they're California-based and I personally CANNOT say if they're reliable or not as I haven't deat with them, but they do have (May) 2011 pricing searchable on the site. (Just for rooms, tho) For some reason the drop down option to 2011 didn't click on the home page, but after I clicked on 'Cancun Riviera Maya' on the bottom right, and then changed the dates on that page (to the right of all the travel info), it worked. I figure this could be a guideline to use when I receive quotes from my TA, something to compare to for reference. I sent my TA a PDF of their pricing for the dates and resort I want. We'll see what she says....

My coworker had her's at Lagoona Grill, Cancun Restaurant Laguna Grill I haven't tried food myself but she said it was fantastic and what saw in photos, the place has a really nice view. But I believe it it located a little ways away from ME Cancun. I'm not sure what type of food you're looking to have but here are my faves eats from a year or two ago (not sure if they're still there or changed hands....). mix of steak, seafood, itallian and mexican. Run their names through a search engine to find more details. La Madonna and Lorenzillos are near your hotel. La Capilla Argentina, Labná, La Dolce Vita, Ruths Chris and Lorito Joe's are a cab ride away. Planet Hollywood, Pat O'Brien's, Bubba Gump and Outback Steakhouse are also near your hotel if you're looking for other eats during the week. happy eating!

I'm also waiting for rates for, May 2011. Also looking at Royal PDC and Secrets Maroma or Capri Riv. Cancun. Anyhow, i've been to both The Royal in Playa and Cancun. The Royal Cancun has a new beach now, haven't seen it in person yet but judging from website photos it looks A LOT better than it was when I went. I can't say enough good things about the service at both properties! I personally preferred Playa as it is not in the Cancun "Hotel Zone" where there are hotels all in a row...Hard Rock Cafe, La Isla Mall (complete with Zara, Starbucks and Nike), Bubba Gump are also in the area. Fifth Ave is steps away from RPDV and so much fun! Clubs, bars, shops and $35 massages =) PS: If you decide on the Royal, have yourself a Mango Tango!

hmm...i'm currently waiting for Estancia to quote me on their All Inclusive. Originally I was looking at Dreams PV, but turns out they're already booked for the date I want, so I am going to try Dreams Villamagna. I would check out the RIU properties but they do not perform ceremonies on sundays - not even symbolic... Cheers

Anyone NOT Taking FI Name?
rosieposie replied to hoyt75's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
i'm on the fence. in asian culture it's very important with the whole carrying on the family name and but it's our kids who will be carrying it on..so is it really required that i change mine if our kids will take his? the hyphenated thing won't work for me b/c the Chinese equivalent to my FI's Vietnamese last name, Huynh is actually the same as MY last name, Wong. So to our families it just seems silly....."Wong Wong" ....reminds me of Jacob Two-Two.... the important thing is, it's what you and your FI want, together =) -
I'm looking Dreams PV or La Villa Estancia Nuevo Vallarta.....Dreams is AI, but the Estancia is a $500-600 price difference per person when it's just flight + hotel. Is the location better for Dreams being in PV for places to walk around and party and such? Is food hard to find in Nuevo? Or should i just keep it simple and do AI? What is the majority of you ladies doing?
