  1. congrats & welcome! yay vancouver!! we decided on the royal pdc instead b/c no children will be attending, but for a while we were also looking at dreams riviera cancun, the gazebo looks amazing, its family friendly and the decor is clean & modern. check out tripadvisor for some hotel reviews.
  2. I haven't used this myself yet so I cannot say how good or not good it is. My MOH found this for me to look into: Free Wedding Planning tools for beach weddings and destination weddings
  3. considering a non wedding related vacation w/ my hunny....to get away from RAIN-couver!!!
  4. hi there! in case you're still looking... For my AHR, our photographer is setting up a photo booth/corner, where she'll put up a backdrop and a camera on a tripod with a remote. we're going to the dollar store, borrowing & searching our own stuff for props like big sunglasses, feather boas, large picture frames, etc. people can go up to it, take their own pictures and be off. the photos will be given to us on a disc in 2-3 weeks and also posted on the password protected online gallery where people can go and download their own photos. so its not instantly printed. in vancouver we have a couple for rent that are actual booth like you see at the malls, but they are quite expensive. i Googled this company: Chicago Photo Booth Rentals for Weddings | ShutterBox Entertainment hope that helps!
  5. we tried to avoid an AHR and only do a DW but our familes had a fit, they want the large chinese banquet with the 10 courses, all relatives and friends, tea ceremony etc.....so after some tears and fears (what a gong show!) we have booked a AHR venue & have joined the club. happy planning ladies!!
  6. I love DiorSkin Nude, it gives a lighter coverage (i'm not sure what kind of coverage you're looking for) but you can build it up. It absorbs nicely. Adding the DiorSkin powder set it well too. whatever foundation you use, don't use a sponge, it'll eat up your product and doesn't blend as nice. I'm loving Sephora's Professional "Airbrush brush" (#55) - $44 CDN gives an airbrushed look and is supersoft. Anyone try or thinking trying the Tempu Airbursh system? (But large price tag) AIRbrush Makeup System by TEMPTU Best thing is to go to a store and try a bunch - Sephora is great with providing samples. Also, check their return policy just in case!
  7. wow, now i'm having second thoughts. i was just looking through their site last night!
  8. Cenote Cristalino, I'm not quite sure where it is exactly, we were recommended by a couple at the hotel who tried the day before. Took a cab straight from the hotel. About 20-30 mins. Not much in terms of fish, but beautiful "jungle" surrounding. Not many tourists. If you haven't gone already, dancing at the Blue Parrot (5th Ave) & drinks at Alux cave bar/restaurant (short cab ride from 5th Ave) - not great food or drinks particularily, but kinda neat being underground in a cave having a drink =P Coba was interesting too. amazing view from the top. Have a Happy Wedding!

    Hi

    hello & welcome!

And I don't trust the room safes. We are having a symbolic ceremony and we've made up a wedding contract so that we have something to sign because we won't have a legal marriage certificate. It is just a cute little promise we wrote to each other. I figure if our "marriage license" is a fake, then heck, why not our rings! I don't want to be worried about it all week, but want it in photos at the same time - SO if I find one that looks similar in costume jewellery, I'm not going to rule out purchasing it. Regarless, we're going to make sure we have adequet insurance on things. We're also having a symbolic ceremony, so do see what you mean.
  11. Thanks Imuze & dolfinluck! phew! i was starting to worry - the sales associate made it seem like it was some sort of illegal exchange or smuggling or something! =) Foing to drive out in 3 weeks to order myself a Paigely!!! Can't wait!!!!
  12. LOL I was thinking the same thing! Because it looks like (for now, anyways) my ceremony is going to be at 2pm. So I was thinking how I could use those fabric bandage tapes or wraps to strap a couple of small first aid cold packs (the kind you crack to make cold) to myself. Thinking more so for after the ceremony, don't think I want to risk something fall out or dripping during... PS: not crazy =)

If possible, go for the later time, it will be a better plan good luck, mateo Thanks! The other time available is 6pm - but still $400....Hmmm....10am.... yes, I can't believe they're they're actually charging a premium on this decisions decisions..... Thanks everyone!
  14. Thanks! I was pretty sure it would be pretty bright and hot....Fans are a great idea! time to hit up Chinatown!
  15. My FI didn't want us to spend the extra $400 charge for a later time - "sunset time" so the hotel said 2pm is the only other time available besides 10am. ceremony is on the beach so I'm concerned we all would be baking in the sun. i really don't want to be a pain and try to justify the extra spending because we could use it towards favours, invites or something.... he's been so good with everything so far, and this is 1 of the few things he's asked, that we save this extra bit of money..... should be okay, right ....what will guests do between ceremony and reception, after photos.....?
  16. a store a little out of town carries the dress I want for $100 less than this other larger more well known store in town. When asked if they would match the price (so I wouldn't have to drive out there) the sales associate freaked out, and said that that's below their MSRP from Maggie Sottero and it would be illegal for them or any other store to do so. Went on about how I shouldn't buy from that other store because if anything happened to their MS contract b/c of their lower price, I wouldn't get my dress and they probably wouldn't give me my money back....the difference is $100, so not a huge amount - but still $100....to store with a sale associate with bad service.... They're both on MS website as authorized dealers.
