I want to get them something to give to them on the morning of the wedding with a card. But i just havent got a clue what to get each of them? Can anyone help me with 1 or 2 ideas? Thanks x we're giving both our parents a weekend spa getaway at Harrisson Hot Springs (a short drive from here) and also making them silly, cheesey "thank you for raising us" home video. =)
  4. yay! i just got confirmation that my semi-private reception has been changed to a private one in the central garden! we wanted the beach at first but it's been booked already but Lady Di's reception looked so nice in the garden, i'm not really disappointed we didn't get the beach.

There are also my sisters, my MIL that need their hair and makeup done too. It is just much easier to do a group package deal, and everyone is chill and happy. One thing I should note, Waves offers airbrush makeup, that doesnt move or melt during the day, which is a plus for me. I have oily oily skin, and with 35C and 70% humidity outside, you can fry an egg on my face after 1 hour in the sun. I guess I will make sure to tell my makeup artist that I want to look very natural and neutral with my makeup and not like a 1980 asian movie star. yes, panda eyes =) which is too bad because a smokey eye is very sexy. you're right on the relaxation thing....will have to reconsider..... airbrush makeup would be awesome. gives a really natural and flawless look. can't wait to hear more about this waves salon! i'm looking forward to hearing more about this!

The price is around $300 for a trial plus the makeup on the day. Another problem is my resort would charge me $350 for bringing Fernando in. That is why I am looking into the Waves Salon. LOL! i was thinking kinda the same thing! Beautiful Caucasian brides but drag queen-y Asian brides....I think it's our eye lids and eye shape in contrast with the makeup application style. How is the makeup at Waves Salon? I'm now playing with the idea of doing my own makeup....that vendor fee @ the royal is too expensive!

  9. i sure hope this is only a bump along the way. thank goodness we are not going to live with them! FI asked them to pay for the favours too because we will only do candy or something like that if it's up to us (cheep cheep). They were fine with candy so...that's that. lol, FI asked me "chocolate is still good until May if we bought it after Valentine's Day right?" Thomasjsgirl, i think you're right, i do think they find the DW a strange thing and worry what "people" will say, but now it really is, can't beat 'em, join 'em. i'll be sure to post photos of how it all goes down! you ladies are the BEST! happy Friday!

Plus I'm mad that you got stuck footing the bill for the photographer, favors and maybe more. But I guess it is what it is and could have been a lot worse. You are a better person than I because I would have told them where to put their big, fat AHR! I hope you make a killing and can use the extra money to take a long vacation away from them LOL You shouldn't be stressed out about an AHR and it's all their fault. You have every right to have an uncomfortable feeling towards them and I hope for your sake that it goes away when the show is over! Hang in there yes, i don't like this way of paying for it either, yes, pointless. definately could have been worse....As for the favours...I'm thinking cheap... probably candy or hershey kisses... lol, i sure wanted to tell them where to put their AHR! But i knew if i did, there would be no going back.... So I let my Fi do the yelling & shouting. thanks again, i hope with time this blows over....and it would be so great to have some money left over to get away from them, that could help the "blowing over"

I just had my first dress fitting 2 days ago - I cried when I put on the dress! Which is funny since I didn't cry when I initially found it! my TA was the go between person at first to book the time, date and locations. Then I started dealing with the WC directly for the little details and was told i would be given to an onsite WC 30 days prior. it's a good sign that you love it enough to cry. i didn't cry when i found my dress either, but sure didn't want to take it off!
  12. Thanks for asking sorry, my laptop is messed up, so i'm computer-less at home right now. Stupid Vista. Then I tried to post 2 times now and lost my post both times because I took too long to type (sneaking in here at work). So the whole discussion was quite tense, there was some shouting...i mostly stayed quiet and let FI do the talking/shouting....not my parents afterall. We stood firm, but so did they...we told them we were not going borrow money just to throw a party they want, end of story. They just kept saying "but you'd make it back at the end of the night". I know most our friends and family would be giving monetary gifts, but it's hardly something we want to count on! You just never know. They insisted that if we didn't have it, then no one would give us a gift or money, but we don't care about that! We don't want these people to think we're just throwing a party to get their money, we just want a happy wedding - ON THE BEACH IN MEXICO! SO, after what seemed like eternity we finally came down to them "fronting" the money for the reception's food, booze and tips. Any monetary gifts received would be used on paying for that. They would cover the difference and if there was anything left after that, we would get it (I'm DEFINATELY not counting on extra money being left over). We would be responsible for a photographer and favours.....maybe a dance floor rental and DJ (FI and I contemplating, but they left it up to us). No decorations, no flowers, no cake and no band. What an exhasting experience! I must say, although I hate to, this has left me with an uncomfortable feeling towards my future in laws. i don't want it to be there but can't help it. i hope that goes away after everything is done. I'm really a posivitive and happy person normally! This wedding experience has me stressed out and emotional! From the botttom of my heart, I thank you ladies for your kind words and support. You took the time out to read my vent and post something and that means a lot. See you around! I'm sending good vibes your way!!!

Right now we are leaning toward the Xcaret for the wedding, but staying at the Royal for the week. that's great news that you're sorting things out xcaret would be an amazing place for a wedding. i hope it all works out! we'll be there thursday to thursday with FI and I looking at staying a couple of extra days. keep us posted on how things go!

I was ready to make a deposit, but it took them forever to get back to me, I had to email them for a third time today and finally it was... oh it's not available. I have no idea what to do Maybe they can put us in the Gran Porto Gazebo? Rosieposie, looks like we'll be down there the same time. My date is May 21, 2011 i was wondering if i might be down there at the same time as anyone from here! what are your travel dates? i'm sure we'll see each other around the resort =) sorry to hear your having problems with your ceremony arrangements! i hope you get it sorted out soon! the gazebo at the Gran looks quite lovely too, so if the time is important for you, it could be a good fit. but if you have your heart set on the Royal's gazebo, is an earlier time available? don't worry, you never know...let your WC know to keep an eye out case what you want does become available in the next couple of months.

Alux is very cool and I had the food there, it was ok Cogo Bongo is awesome but I love to dance as do all my girl friends so this is usually where I end up at the end of the night I also love this place right on 5th called Tequila Bar Tequila Barrel Sports Bar and Grill in Playa del Carmen Mexico Its a sports bar feel but its fun to just grab guacamole and chips and hang out oh yea!!! tequila barrel!!! i loved their lime and tequila chicken!! making me also think of brownie from Ah Cacao i had on the way back to the resort....mmmmm http://ahcacao.com/en/

It's a short (under $10) cab ride from the resort. coco bongo in playa is next to the blue parrot. was quite fun, didn't have fire dancers or anything like that. Still had a fun atmosphere, but noticed that blue parrot attracted more people. went to a foam party at the coco bongo in cancun, was so much fun! BUT noticed the foam left a weird smell afterwards but went away after a shower. heard deseo is quite nice, on the rooftop of the deseo hotel right on 5th ave. but we didn't have time to go.
  19. i just got an email from Flora saying she's now an onsite coordinator and i now have Ana to help me until i get to the onsite part. anyone have the same person or any experience with her? i've been waiting to confirm the change from semi-private to private reception.

Here's a map, hope it helps! http://www.infoplayadelcarmen.com/im...-100104web.jpg
  21. I also like the one without the extra bows best Great necklace and earrings set by the way!!!
  22. Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate all the comments! Unfortunately, This font can't be bolded in illustrator. But I googled something that kinda draws in the bolding. So after I teach myself that, I will edit the post with the new one! Have a great weekend!
