Brazilian Blowout or Keratin Complex Hair Treatment?
rosieposie replied to rosieposie's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Hi Jamie! You w-day is my legal day! Â A friend of mine recently did the BB and she has fine hair. The hair dresser recommended that they start the treatment approx. 1-2 inches away from the scalp so it doesn't make her hair flat against her head. Turned out great, she really enjoys the low maintenance. Â I'm doing Keratin Complex myself but holding off until I decide whether I want to do it 1-2 months before the wedding or do a trial way before in case it's not what i expect... Â lol, decisions, decisions. -
that would be a great idea! hopefully they can accomodate that =) looking forward to meeting you all!

i agree with Lisa, having to chase people for money afterwards is added stress that can be avoided. i was in the same boat about the spa appts ( and i also have Ana) but then I talked to the girls and they'll either to their own or take their chances. having an appt for yourself and/or your mom and/or FMIL set up would be a good idea, beyond that, let the girls decide for themselves and you won't have to stress because they made the decision themselves. Â money makes people funny, better talk it out or have them pay you before you put it on your final payment...

hmmm.......would it be better to do the tour around 730 / 800 then? or forego the tour? Â
-
maybe it would be a good idea to move the tour a little later - 730 would be good... Â i don't think it would take very long, then maybe those that don't head over to have a look can stay at the coffee shop together and those that do go can re-join afterwards? Â it would be great to get together to "talk shop" with the tour being a side thing for those interested.

i know! a weekend of BBQs and parties can be a set back, but you're right, Monday's a new week! i'm trying to motivate myself with a reward...there's this dress i've been eyeing but think it's on the pricey side and can't justify getting it for no "real" reason.....SO it makes a guilty splurge, not so guilty! i'm fallen off the wagon, and clawing my self back on.....  I put an old fat picture of myself in my phone to "help things along" on those days I don't feel like working out. I'm aiming to lose 15lbs over the next 6-9 months.  we can do it ladies!!!  Â

thanks for setting that up Becky!

true, that starbucks is transit accessible but not the most convenient via skytrain...maybe downtown is okay then? how about starbucks in the Hyatt (burrard side) or across the street on Georgia both are close to Burrard station or becky's place...  hmmm.....does someone want to make the "executive decision" for us? ....
-
15th sounds great! Last time we met at this Starbucks, and there was plenty of room, it was quieter and areas with free parking. East 2nd at Commercial 1752 Commercial Drive Vancouver, BC Would that be okay again? I'm open to anywhere too if anyone wants to meet somewhere else! (I'm thinking downtown would require pay parking and could be hard to find seats for everyone if it's busy.....)

Brazilian Blowout or Keratin Complex Hair Treatment?
rosieposie replied to rosieposie's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
thanks! I ended up getting something from livingsocial.com (similar to groupon) for the Keratin Complex + cut for $149. too good to pass up, and expires in a year so I figure I would give it a try. I have thick, semi-wavy, frizz asian hair so anything that saves me from having to blowdry or flat iron would eb fantastic! i will post pix once i decide when to go =) sorry to hear about your bad experience, perhaps you were particularily sensitive to an ingredient? i hope you reported it to the company! after trying the keratin complex - hoping all goes well, i think i'll try the BB to compare....especially if the results are as good as they make it all sound. hope your hair is ok now =) -
:welcome3: and happy planning! tons and tons of info on the Royal thread to help you plan your dream wedding!

Brazilian Blowout or Keratin Complex Hair Treatment?
rosieposie replied to rosieposie's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Thanks! Yes, that's the one - by Coppola!! Ok, I'm going with that one then Can you please ask when you have it done that after all the downtime and such, can you use styling tools (curlers) and still do updos without ruining the effects? I would like to do it a month or so before the wedding but want to curl or put my hair up for the wedding at the same time don't want to ruin the effects of the treatment. -
Anyone tried either of these? I've been interested in getting one of these treatments done a month or 2 before my wedding to help tame frizz while in Mexico. It's supposed to be the latest thing in hair maintenance unlike the Japanese straightening, it's not a "perm" treatment, it's more like a hair conditioning treatment. It smooths, de-frizzes, adds shine and softness. Works on any hair type, even chemically treated hair. Apparently you won't need to straighten or blowdry for weeks after getting it done. Downside is it usually starts around the $250+ range. I still have to inquire about is whether it'll be okay to curl or put the hair into an updo (or something) during the time the treatment is still in effect. But here are some things I found online Brazilian Blowout http://www.brazilianblowout.com/home - 90 minutes to do - formaldahyde-free - no downtime - use their shampoo & conditioner for aftercare and maintain effects - lasts about 12 weeks Keratin Complex http://www.keratincomplex.com/ - 2-3 hours to do - formaldahyde-free - 3 days downtime, no washing, no tying, no headbands...etc. - use their shampoo & conditioner for aftercare and maintain effects - lasts 3-5 months depending on hair type I'm not sure at the moment, but if and when I get this done, I will let you know how it goes! Please let me know if you've heard or tried either of these, as so far I've heard nothing but good things. Except that both treatments still emit fumes of some sort despite being formaldahyde-free.

Nice! Looks like it'll be a big turn out for September! Should we try to narrow down a week? How about some time the week of September 13 in case some people might be busy due to the long weekend the week before? Or is the week after better? Did you ladies have a preference for a location? Becky has kindly offered the rooftop in the building she lives in, which would be nice, unless it's preferred to meet at a coffee shop or restaurant?

Has anyone tried "Latisse" to grow your lashes?
rosieposie replied to SouthernSweetie's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I've always had short and spaced apart lashes, so i tried lash extensions couple months ago to see if i'd like them for the wedding. then had them removed, big mistake - they're even worse than before! so i finally had a moment, went and asked my doc for the prescription for latisse and filled it today. hopefully it works!
