  2. Beautiful pics, beautiful beach, beautiful bride. Congrats and enjoy the rest of your time away.
  3. How exciting. Can't wait to hear all about it. Good luck with the last minutes details and I hope every thing is amazing!
  4. Welcome to the forum and congrats. Happy planning, this place has every thing you need to know.
  5. I'm thankful to have booked our date and resort and our flights are taken care of. Everyone else will figure it out and if they don't, I'm trying not to think about it yet, we have time. But my current big stresser is that my FI thinks we don't need to do any more planning. I'm trying to get every thing pretty basically planned out; ie: what we're going to do about flowers, the ceremony (we're thinking about having a few of our closest friends do reading to get them involved), figure out the OOT bags and just break out where we're spending the money and he won't help me. He refuses to help me and it's making me crazy. I don't want to plan this alone, I want his input, his opinion and it makes me so sad that he doesn't want to be a part of it. He just keeps saying "it's your day do what you want"...well that's all well and good, but it's OUR day. I'm frustrated, sorry.
  6. Welcome and Congrats. I'm a December bride as well. We're doing the Dominican Republic and very excited. Good luck with the planning and I promise once you pick the place the rest is fun
  7. Thank you for sharing them, although I'd pretty much thought each of them it's nice to have them in writing to remind myself when I start to feel frustrated.
  8. Thanks for posting this there's tons of wonderful stuff. I need to find a location pronto! thanks
  9. love/hate - it's one of those relationships Kindle?
  10. Every thing looks fantastic, I'm so excited about all of it. You're guests will be too! Question, where did you get your fake flowers for your DIY bouquet? I'm been considering doing it myself as well, but the fake flowers I've seen look horrible.

I let him have his way, figure I can use it later The bags look great. Love the color.
  12. Welcome to the board, good luck with all your planning and Congrats!
  13. Sounds like most of us are in the same boat. A full blown wedding in Chicago just wasn't the way I wanted to spend $25K+. We had a goal on what we can save in a year and we're already more than 1/2 way there, it's only been 3 months. We could do the city wedding, but the way we see it, no matter what family is traveling, whether to Chicago or to Punta Cana - we LOVE the Caribbean, it's our favorite way to spend our vacation time so why not start our life off where we love to spend our time. My parents are SUPER excited. My FI's, not so much. His sister, who's getting married 3 months before us decided to extend their trip and make it their honeymoon, his brother (who's supposed to the Best Man) spent 30 minutes complaining about every thing on Sunday. I know my FI will never forgive his brother if he doesn't come, but at this point I feel if they really love you, if they really want to be a part of your life, they will find a way. Even my aunt who's on dialysis is planning to go. My father who just found out he has cancer (a very treatable kind, fingers crossed), is planning to be there. It's not easy planning a wedding knowing that not everyone you care about wants to be part of it, but the deeper into the planning I get the more excited it get for all of us that are there. It's going to be so special and different from any other wedding in Chicago (and we've been to a lot). Good luck with your planning and I hope your family and his get on board! Either way, it's about the two of you and how you two want to start your life together.
  14. How exciting, welcome to the forum! Good luck with all your planning
  15. like, most of the time. Hot tea?
  16. My experience with destinationwedding.com was not great. The women who was supposed to be my TA barely helped me out. By the time we narrowed down where we wanted to go and emailed her for information, we didn't hear from her for over 2 weeks, so we contacted the resort directly. As much as I had hoped it would work out, it didn't. Since then I have learned that destinationwedding.com uses various TA all over, and you never know who you're going to get. Some people get lucky and make a great contact, for us it was a bust and caused more trouble then help, so be cautious. Good luck
  17. Anyone considering not having a first dance? Neither my FI or I really like to dance, just wondering if anyone had any other ideas?
