  1. I like midnight's idea of wearing your hair down and then changing it when you go to the reception. As for the issue of hurting the FMIL's feelings.... if you REALLY don't like the veil, maybe try to explain that with what you'd like to do with your hair, makeup, etc... the veil doesn't fit in your vision. However, ask her to go with you to find one that does? Just my two cents.
  2. Aww, that SUCKS! It's horrible that companies repeatedly rip off brides. This is supposed to be one of the happiest times in our lives, and greedy assholes seem to think it's a great time to rip us off! I wholeheartedly believe in the saying that Karma always has a way of coming around. I, however, have had great results with Go Smile from Sephora. I used the whole kit, and still use the on-the-go touch-ups. Good luck!
  3. Welcome to the forums! This place is AWESOME for planning!
  4. What a great find! Target has the best deals sometimes. It's times like this I wish I had a flower girl. There's so many cute things for them!

Since it's used to printing on heavier and glossier (photo) paper, it worked like a charm. miznunu2010: I was able to print directly on the envelope due to my photo printer. I just moved the printer tray things to the right size to hold the envelope, and it did the rest. However, when I did my invites, I really didn't want to address them by hand, so I got clear sticker paper from staples and printed on that and then stuck them to the envelope. They were almost invisible, and most people never noticed that there was a label. It was a thought for the tears of joy envelopes if the printer wouldn't cooperate. That might be something you want to look into! YIweddings: I can't take the credit for the tags. I'm not sure whose they were originally, but you can find the template in the DIY forums!
  6. I've started working on a TON of DIY projects. I finished two of them tonight. I'm so happy to finally have something finished that I can show off, that I could dance. (Ok, so I did do a little happy dance earlier!) Pashminas: I have completed 6 of these. Since I don't have an approximate guest count, I'm just purchasing them as the RSVP's come in. I have 6 confirmed female guests thus far, so those are done. I used the template from the Pashmina Template thread and just removed the outside border(s). It made it easier so that if my 2" hole punch wasn't exactly centered, it didn't look too bad. Then I punched pieces of scrapbooking paper as well, and glue dotted them on the back, so that there's a pretty design if the tags get flipped over. The pashminas themselves are all different colors. I have some finicky guests, so this way if someone doesn't like their color, they can swap. I've already had comments about my color combo, so this was me playing it safe! Tears of Joy packets: I'm creating 20 of these, since they're so simple. Once I created the design/saying and put our logo on it, it was just running the envelopes (from my local Michael's) through the printer, and putting the tissues inside. For some reason, in these pictures, the color looks pink, but it's actually purple. It must be because of my crappy camera on my BB. (Ignore the blacked out portions. FI thought he was being all savvy by blacking out the names and info on them.. he didn't realize all that info is already on here!) Girls, let me know what you think!
  7. jealousy88: I spent about 20 hours to do 50 invitations. Once we had the 1st one done, the rest went like an assembly line. The most amount of time was spent on designing them, so if you have an idea of what you want already... I say go for it!
  8. That sounds like a great idea! You know that everyone is going to fill up with sweets though, and then dinner will be spoiled! lol
  9. Thanks for all the support, ladies! Now that they're sent out and the feedback is coming back from our guests (almost all positive!)... I couldn't be happier. I'm so proud when people find out that I made them myself!
  10. I agree with Lucy... even if you don't know her, a small gift is always appreciated!
  11. You should do what YOU want. It's your wedding, afterall. I will say though... I love the idea of incorporating your entire family, children included. Your marriage is the joining of two families, so it's such a symbolic occasion to include everyone. No matter what you decide, just make sure that you are happy!
  12. The bridesmaids will be a smaller version of the same bouquet. Bouts will be the green orchids, wrapped with purple ribbon. I ordered them a few weeks ago from wedideas.com. I can't wait until they get here!
  13. That is SUCH a gorgeous dress! You'll have no problem selling it, I'm sure!
  14. Such a typical male. My FI says that I can use all four of the luggage pieces, since he can fit everything in his garment bag. I was in SHOCK when he said that... how do you pack for your wedding and honeymoon IN A GARMENT BAG? Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for being able to take 4 bags, at 50 lbs a piece... but I know he's going to regret it!
  15. Ayita, if you'd like to relive those days, I'll happily let you take over my DIY'ing and planning! HAHAH!
  16. I think we are skipping the photography. All of the leads that we had that would fit in our budget have ended up not working out. Since I'm unemployed and FI is just now finishing school we don't have any real income.
  17. Your story is so beautiful, and your family did an amazing job on the shower.. I love the centerpieces!
  18. Kristy!, Thanks for all the info. Even though we've already booked with Sandals and went AI, we're still excited to go out on the island and explore... even the restaurants! You make it sound so beautiful, white beaches or not!
  19. Congrats on your engagement, and welcome to the forum!
