  1. Im sure all the Riviera brides will be of great help to you. We all went through trying to pick a perfect place too. Ask lots of questions if you need to and hopefully your decision will be a cinch.
  2. what a fantastic idea! I went to a wedding in Johannesburg and it was BEAUTIFUL. The bride was dressed in a very colorful african themed wedding dress with an amazing african choir. I'm sure everything you decide will be great and unique too

    New Here...

Yipee! Congrats. Glad you finally joined....nobody likes a lurker! hahahahaha just kidding, we're happy to have you
  4. Good Luck! Spin class just kicked my butt yesterday morning so I know how you feel... 2 and a half more people booked Yippee. Now we have a little flower girl.
  5. Welcome Linds! This website will help you so much as it did for most of us. This is a good forum to be on too because we all try to help each other out looking for OOT bag items and great sales around Calgary. I'm sure you'll find it very useful. I too used Romantic Planet as our travel agent for the wedding. Had a bit of a nightmare of a time at the beginning but I have to say that they have really redeemed themselves and are now working very hard helping all our guests out. We have people coming from Calgary, Regina, Toronto and Halifax and Tara's been helpful to all of them. If you have any questions about them, just ask. I have been dealing with them since last October/November. Good Luck with the dress hunt. I'm sure you'll find something fantastic. You have lots of time so no stressing out yet! Happy Planning
  6. The reason I am having placecards is because I have my mom(+new BF), a stepdad(+gf) and a biological dad(+wife and kids) coming. I need to keep them separated!!! HAHA how's that for ghetto wedding!?
  7. Ok, I'm liking the $75. Meghan, let me know if they did a good job. I'm a little freaked about it because I don't want someone ruining my dress BEFORE i get married. CONGRATS on the wedding. Sorry to hear about the rain but it sounds like you had a great attitude about it. It's only rain, right? Also the camera fiasco. That sucks but what can ya do! I'm sure everyone has amazing pics for you soon. Did you hire a professional photographer? Did you get those back yet?
  8. Angie, I'm not. I'm basically bringing a very minimum amount of stuff with me. The OOT bags and placecard holders are really all I'm bringing I think.

Here's the link: TheFinalCost.com - Canadian total shipping fees calculator (brokerage, duty, customs) Happy shopping Thanks! That is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Wonder how accurate it is.... hmmm?
  10. Technically Kelie..... you're not even spending any money I love how we can justify almost anything!
  11. oh I just re-read my post and i sound so greedy LOL I actually didn't even think about presents... i swear
  12. I'd totally be up for that. I'm all about summertime drinks on a patio! Soooo I was thinking I wasn't going to register anywhere just because people were traveling so far for the wedding, I don't really expect many gifts but I never really thought about the shower. Did everyone register somewhere? Nadine & Kris did you get many gifts.....
  13. there are no good stores up here and all the canadian websites charge triple! It's ridiculous actually. I will definatly be planning a trip to your country before the wedding. As for the invites, I'm actually not even doing any. (still haven't decided if that's tacky or not!) I sent STD out early with little reminder magnets so I figure those that want to book will. Most have already booked and to those people, I am sending out luggage tags and packing lists probaby end of August.
  14. Soooo pretty, what nice engagement! We are from Cochrane (about an hour east of Banff). Welcome to BDW. It's a very helpful resource! Happy Planning
  15. She can't reply Kelie... she's working, remember! Shipping is never free to Canada..argggg but thanks for the info. When I find my American Wedding Mule, I'll be sure to start ordering I am, however, sucking up the shipping and customs costs and ordering from OTC eventually. There's so many great thing on there, it would be nice to look in a catalog. Kelie, thanks for sharing for package details. STILL not sure what I'm going to do in the end. I've been avoiding my romance calculator like the plague!
  16. They look fantastic! I just read a thread about discountmugs silkscreens rubbing off so this is probably a sure way to go. Good Job, they look fab!

Gosh! I haven't looked on Trip Advisor in ages. Probably a good thing though. I care too much what other people think, I don't think I could handle reading the bad reviews.
  18. We have 28 booked at PR but 4 more staying at a condo somewhere else. 32 is plenty for me.. I wish people would stop booking! LOL We also have a handful of those dreaded undecided ones too. I'm secretly hoping we max out at 40 but we'll have to wait and see. Kelie, I think I've asked you this before but are you customizing a package or did you pick one of theirs? I think you said customizing but I can't remember....
  19. Thanks for the head's up. The mugs are such a great deal from there that I think all of us were thinking of it at one point or another. I wonder if you ordered plain mugs and got someone local that you trusted to put on the silkscreen. Just an idea!
  20. What a great resort you chose! That was my first choice actually then I changed it because we were looking for somewhere that has a direct flight. We are still at a Paradisus (because we LOVED the resort) but now in the Mayan Riviera. Happy Planning!
  21. How wonderful that you joined this site too!!! I'm sure you and your daughter will find everything you are looking for. Just read through the forums because they are full of useful information and great ideas.... I'm sure you will also be able to find a thread that is directed specifically to UK residents! Good Luck and Happy planning
  22. Nice Suzy! That's great news! Can't wait to see the final product... Sarah's mug girl from Toronto is getting me a quote so if Discount Mugs ends up cheaper I think I will just go with them. $35 is way cheaper than I thought for fees and stuff.
  23. Welcome back Kelie! Not wedding related at all but did they give you a discounted rate to stay there for your site visit?
  24. Drycleaning Question: I bought my dress off the rack and am wanting to get it drycleaned. Went in for a quote today and they said $260... is this reasonable? I don't have a clue!
  25. Bye Kelie! (think I missed the boat on that one- lol she's already gone!) We are going to Scotland in March for our honeymoon. It's where we got engaged and we'd like to see the rest of that country
