WARNING-Scam- AH Fashions- Linen Suits
JanineA replied to MrsLewistobe's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Mrs. Lewistobe sorry to hear about your experience. $99 for linen suits that is a steal. I read the original post and know two of the brides were happy but it is coming all the way from India and so much can go wrong. I ordered my fiance's suit from Menwearhouse. Right now they have a sale where the linen suits are $250 and you get the second suit for $100 (since he has 3 groomsmen) it worked out to each person paying about $150. The linen shirts they will wear are from a store near my house Guayabera Shirt, The Guayabera Shirt Company. They have cuban guayaberas and lots of linen shirts of excellent quality. (Shirts are typically around $30 with a 10% discount if you mention it is for a wedding). Hope everything goes better in your search. -
Invitation Etiquette...please help?
JanineA replied to JanineA's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Thanks ladies! I wasn't sure what to do. My MOH can't come because of money issues and my bridesmaid because she is pregnant but I wasn't sure if sending an invite after they both told me they couldn't make it was rude. MDLady I kind of get where your mom was coming from. I didn't want to seem like I was rubbing it in their faces or something. I will send it out since you ladies are right I do want them to feel like they are still part of the moment. Thanks again! -
My wedding is not until November but I have had a few people (one bridesmaid and my MOH) already let me know that they will not be able to attend...though I am bummed out I kind of expected both. My question is this, if someone has let me know way in advance they will not be attending do I still have to send them an invitation? They were sent save-the-dates which is when they responded saying they wouldn't be attending. Do I send the invitations out of courtesy?

Roo, thats a good idea. I was just afraid of it being too expensive but I guess it is always an option. Thanks! JT3 good luck, I wish I could say that I could be so brave as to attempt to make them. I am not creative in the least. Good for you, I'm jealous.

Hi Ladies, does anyone have any leftover sarongs from OOT bags that they would be willing to part with? Or can you perhaps recommend where you got your sarongs? Thanks

Looking for luggage tags, laterns and parasols
JanineA replied to miznunu2010's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Hi Miznunu, not sure if you are interested but theknot.com has parasols right now on sale for $4.99 (they are nylon and good quality, I had a friend who recently used it at her wedding and it came in handy cause the nylon actually was sturdy and protected us from the very light sprinkle that came through....I think paper would not be as sturdy). I intend on getting some for my wedding. I already bought a few things from there. Here are two coupon code I can share with you: 15% COMPLETEKS and 10% CONGRATS! Hope this helps...I'm continuing my hunt for sarongs....if anyone knows of a place for affordable nice sarongs please let me know. Thanks!!! -
Flip Flop Question...a little silly
JanineA replied to JanineA's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Thank you so much ladies. I think I am going to send a mass e-mail. I have been sending e-mails with things such as the discount code American Airlines gave us and hotel and travel agent info. I don't know why I didn't think to just send an e-mail. Man so much going on my mind overlooked that. Thanks for all the input! -
Flip Flop Question...a little silly
JanineA replied to JanineA's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Hi Girasole!! I see you're wedding date is fast approaching!! How exciting. I'm also getting married in TC but in November. Thanks Carly I am gonna google away, I know I shouldn't be buying stuff so early for the wedding but I can't help it. I have been finding some really great deals and can't help but take advantage now. -

Seeking Band/DJ for Turks & Caicos (Island Boys?)

Hey Panda, can you tell me who you decided to go with for the music for your reception? And what your general thoughts were on the service they provided. Thanks -

JanineA replied to PandaNYC's topic in The Islands Weddings
Panda have you had your wedding yet and who did you go with for entertainment/music at your wedding? -
Mercedes so sorry to hear your experience was not a pleasant one. Can you elaborate on perhaps the rest of your experience that was positive. Did the island meet your expectations? Did your venue deliver all that you hoped? Tropical Imaging is fantastic glad to hear your positive remarks about them.

St. Thomas - Magen's Wedding & Grand Turk TDD Photos
JanineA replied to ~St.T Bride~'s topic in The Islands Weddings
Absolutely gorgeous pics. Loved the one of you two kissing under the dock and playing in the ocean! Congrats! -
Yes I know that flowers on the island can get quite pricey...hehehe, I am originally from the islands (not TC, another island). Most imported things are pricey. I have seen a few favors on etsy that looked promising for the arrival bags I want my guests to receive upon check in but was a bit weary of ordering cause I have never ordered from etsy before or even known anyone who has. I actually stumbled across the site by searching for organza hair pieces on google! I wasn't sure how up to board the sellers are....I guess I could just buy one small item and try it first. Curious I haven't gotten the quote back for my flowers yet, though I already know its going to a bit much since I need centerpieces and the whole shabang but how did you get the clay flowers there with out them being crushed?

The Gansevoort was one of the venues in my initial consideration. If you get in touch with the Claire Arrindell (Director of Sales) email [email protected] or Kanzy Hajouji (Restaurant Manager/Events Manager) email [email protected] they will send you any banquet/wedding/event brochures you may need. They are both very very helpful and usually respond to emails rather quickly. I believe Tropical Destination Management handles most of the planning and organization of the wedding once you are booked and the contact for them would be Teresa Brunner email [email protected]. I still have all of my packages and brochures from them and would be more than happy to pass them along to you if you would like, but I suggest giving them a call they are very nice and have been trying to do more wedding business. Good luck!

The woman I purchased mine from duplicated exactly what I wanted! I couldnt be happier and I get to see them everyday! Those were clay flowers I am impressed. I have no intentions of keeping my bouquet but I would have never guessed from your pics they were clay. Great job! I am considering getting my hair piece from etsy. They have great stuff. Ileana is doing our shoot and the first time I saw your pics was actually on their blog. Awesome pics! Just awesome!

Hi Kaml, I'm not hosting my wedding there but I am from Tobago so I wanted to say good luck!

Hi Glowbee and welcome! Quite a few of us have TC weddings planned in all different venues so there is a load of info to be found. I am planning a TC wedding scheduled for Nov. 2010. Mine will be hosted at The Somerset on Grace Bay: Beachfront Caribbean Resort Turks and Caicos - Beachfront Grace Bay Resort - Hotel My photography will be done by Tropical Imaging: http://www.brilliant.tc My flowers will be done by Flowers by Environmental Arts, sorry don't have a website for them but do have contact numbers etc. let me know if you need them. Sorry I can't offer any info with regards to the Catholic church on the island, we are having a beach ceremony. So far my blog consists of only my ideas and such, no pics of venues there but if you would like a pic of real weddings done at various venues I suggest you check out the Tropical Imaging website. They are the premiere photography group on the island and have shot in nearly all of the locations. For example to see pics of real weddings shot at Somerset here is the link: Brilliant by Tropical Imaging However once on the site you can search practically any of the resorts and see a host of pics from different venues. There is also a member on here by the name of Krys who is extremely helpful and can probably answer all of your questions and lives on the island! Good luck!

Is a Caribbean wedding legally recognized in the US?
JanineA replied to PandaNYC's topic in The Islands Weddings
The reason I said you can register it or not is because in Miami you have the option also of not registering and simply presenting your TC marriage certificate whenever asked for it. Of course with the growing suspicion of most agencies it is advisable that you register it and use the US registered copy to do any name changes etc. Once it has an official govt seal from the issuing country, in this case TC it is usually not questioned though. New York may not share the same policy as I have found NY and DC to always be a bit stricter in policy.
