  1. Congrats!! I'm sure there are definitely places where you can have a wedding for just the two of you. I'm sorry I can't say where, since I'm not marrying in Mexico but I bet it can be done. Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for.
  2. Here is a thread where the ladies seem to keep up with and voice their concerns on this issue:  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/38173/issues-questions-concerns-safety-traveling-to-mexico-post-here  I was in Mexico last October (Playa Mujeres) and I can tell you that though all of the stuff was 45 minutes away it felt like a world away. I remember asking people at the hotel and even our car driver (we were worried so much we had a driver the entire time we were there) and they all mentioned that the drug lords would not dare venture into the tourist areas of mexico, its where they launder their money so they want business in those areas to remain booming....I really don't know if that is the case or not but I do know that we felt extremely safe the entire time.....of course this was October 2009. I'm not sure if a lot has changed since then. Perhaps the ladies in that thread can help.
  3. Brandy they look fabulous! I haven't been on the site much but I have been checking back just to see how they turned out......your guests are gonna love them!
  4. Ok ladies so minor set back. I lost weight....bummer though I am working out religiously I'm not eating as much calories as I should be so I am down to 105 so they are taking in my dress. I was 111 when I first ordered it and they took the measurements. Good news though I don't have to pay for alterations!!!!! So my last fitting is on Oct. 11th, but I am going in on Saturday morning to try my shoes with the dress since I didn't have them with me on Monday. We getting close to the 1 month out ladies!!!! Are you ready?
  5. sxcT you can always get foot petals...most shoe retailers sell them. They literally look like little daisies that are soft and velvety and they go under the ball of your foot on the shoe.....it makes wearing high heels easy.
  6. Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum. A travel agent can always lay our your options for you and help narrow your choices but you and FI can also do that on your own as well. Try to make a list of what it is you want out of your destination, are you thinking all inclusive or regular resort? Big resort or boutique style hotel? Do you want seclusion or lots of activities? Once you start answering some of those questions and making your lists your decision will start to slowly form. Browse the different threads and look at some of the resort other brides are using. You'll definitely find lots of help, tips and advice here. Good luck and happy planning!
  7. Your mugs turned out great!!! I am in a constant back and forth with discountmugs since they sent me my water bottles and they were completely wrong! Today I received my totes and those were completely wrong as well. They claim they are going to correct it but we'll see. So far the only way to communicate with them to resolve the issue is through emails and on their website....I would really like to scream at someone. Wooohsaaaa! I hope I end up with a happy ending like you.
  8. Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum. Getting started is always the tricky part, so many beautiful destinations to choose from. You and FI can make a list of perhaps your top 5 resorts and then make a list of what is most important to you. Are you looking for lots of island activities? Do you want an All-inclusive or regular resort? Do you want boutique style or big? As you start answering these questions and others your decision will start taking shape. You can always contact WC at different resorts and ask for their wedding brochure so that you can see what is offered, what is included, and importantly where it may all fit into your budget. Don't worry there are lots of us brides here to help your questions and planning along the way and most of all just lend support. Good luck and happy planning!
  9. Lauren is already on maternity leave ladies. But Brianna I think your veg option is going to be the mushroom rizzotto just like nsblum and I. I don't think we have enough planned for our guests but then again most of our guests are arriving Friday. I am doing a brunch the next morning with family since it is FI's birthday....it'll be so awesome cause he has no clue about it. Yaay! Then Sunday after the brunch we are off to do our TTD with Ileana. I kind of wish we were staying longer in T&C so we could see some of our guests leave and stuff (most people are leaving on Tuesday) but then again Bora Bora awaits so I'm not that sad....lol! We'll only be in T&C Nov. 10th thru 15th. But FI says we'll probably go back next year....if not for my bday in Feb perhaps later in the year. Â I just found my shoes this week. I had my fitting on Monday and then I found my shoes on zappos.com on Tuesday night, ordered it regular shipping and was told I was upgraded, woke up Wednesday morning 10am both shoes were at the door!!! Talk about great service. I ordered two shoes (actually three because I bought wedges while I was in NY over the summer) because I really like them both and I can't decide but then after trying them on I told FI it doesn't matter which I choose I am keeping them both. I am buying the little squares that go at the bottom of my heel so that I don't sink into the grass. MysTea told me about them a while back. I just can't bare being short all night. Being a ballerina for 21 years I got used to being on my toes.....literally....lol. I'm 5'1 and for most of my adult life I've worn heels everywhere (never shorter than 4" cause that defeats the purpose).....and I do mean everywhere...grocery store, post office, running errands....everywhere. If you saw me without heels I was probably at home or at the beach....lol. I tell everyone in my mind I'm like 5'5 but then I look in the mirror and reality smacks me in the face. Brianna I know what you mean about it getting all real. I tried on my dress on Monday and it hit me, I'm getting married. I was like whoa Nelly! 51 days to go till my wedding and 46 days before I am in T&C! I can't wait!!!
  10. Oh my goodness so good to see it on here, the store is located very near to my house and the owner Alisha has been awesome in helping me pick out all the items for my wedding (as well as Josh...her dog who is in the store with her everyday). I must tell her that she was mentioned on BDW. Any ladies interested in bling I would definitely recommend Twinkle Twinkle Bridal in Coral Gables and if you don't see it on her website she can order it and get it for you. Her quality is excellent and prices are just as competitive as Tejani.
  11. I love TTD shots! These look fun and fresh, capturing the playful side.
  12. Congrats and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find lots of ideas and inspiration here. Good luck and happy planning!
  13. Hi Jessica congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum. Happy planning!
  14. Welcome to the forum and I hope you'll find it a great resource in all your planning. Good luck!
  15. Can the thing around his neck probably be replaced with a name tag that fits exactly the same way? Or perhaps instead of maracas in both hands one can have a stick/pole of some sort (kind of like a swizzle stick) that has a flag/tag at the top with the name. By the way I like the little Lego guy...cute idea.
  16. I like the donation idea as well. I think I'll discuss this with FI since there is a local foundation that he works with here called Shake a Leg (it allows disabled children the chance to do water activities they never dreamed of like sail their own opti with the help of a grown up, or other such things).
  17. Don't worry Misti I am sure they will go down, probably even below $600. I was sure that with my wedding only about a month and a half away tickets wouldn't be cheap right now. On Monday I got an alert that tix were $435 and low and behold I went from 39 guests to 41. LOL! So don't you worry, they'll be going down....good that you signed up for price alerts cause then you'll be on top of it.

  19. Congrats and welcome to the forum Amy! I can't help with your Costa Rica questions but I just wanted to pop by and welcome you to the forum. Happy planning!
  20. Hi Sally congrats on booking and welcome to the BDW site. There a quite a few Costa Rica brides so I'm sure you'll be able to find lots of advice and tips and info in their threads. Good luck with all your planning!!!
  21. I think Abbie said it best. Do what makes YOU and FI happy. Rule number one of planning a DW someone will always complain...family, friends, someone. But it is important for you to do what makes you happy. If you can find a happy medium such as a DW but an AHR at home I am sure they may be willing to compromise. I remember tons of friends saying they couldn't make it, initially I had a small group of about 25 guests, as time went by people changed their minds when they realized we weren't changing our plans and if they didn't change their thinking they would be missing out on a very memorable experience. Now I am up to 41 and who knows it may still even go up from there. Do what makes YOU and FI happy and make it the decision that in the end you can live with. Good luck!
  22. They look very nice. Is the hibiscus in the middle real? Or is the entire thing real touch? The hibiscus looks very real.
