  1. My mom planned a Mexican themed party at her house. It was a blast. She spent about $800 though on food, drinks, decorations, cake etc and we only went to the dollar store and Costco. I did not think about the gift thing as I would have said not to bring any, but our friends chipped in and got us a spa gift card and we got a few other small items and gift cards. Â I think if you have some snacks and appies and maybe a punch or some drinks for people they should be able to bring the rest.
  2. I am paying for their dresses and shoes however I had a budget and they could go over if they wanted to pay themselves, we found dresses for $35 at SuzyShier and I am hoping the sandles will be around $50-60 each, I have 4 bridesmaides.
  3. Even though my wedding is not until March 30, 2011 I was a little bummed that Jennifer is not there any more either, she was soooo good. I kept a running log of the emails between us and forwarded them to Patrick that way he can read through and be up to speed on what our plans and communications are (you should do the same). I am sure everything will work out wonderfully. When you have time we should chat more. I am curious to know if you will be getting your flowers there? I am basically bringing my wedding party and outfits and hoping they can take care of all the rest.
  4. We are getting married just after you on March 30 and my fiance was saying that it is too early as well, however we are in Canada and there is no way he is going to find the light summery clothes in Jan/Feb. I ended up getting him excited about going to the mall to look for board shorts and sandals that he needed now then said while we are here lets look at some wedding stuff. It worked well, and now we dont need think about it until a few months before we will hem the pants etc. Good luck with it all.

But flight prices are going up, and the bride is impaitent =) Would sending out a cute and tastfully wedding reminder be annoying or helpful? Maybe a Newsletter? I always thought you send those out after the invite when people have booked. I think a wedding website would be perfect for the in between, I also created a Facebook group as 90% of friends and family are on Facebook. I am not soo traditional though and may not be sending invitations.
  6. I used mywedding.com and it was really user friendly. Check it out. Amanda & Derek - wedding website by mywedding.com.
  7. Okay, this pic looks really funny because its a manakin with no head! The dress was $35 and looks really good on all 4 of my brides maides. We are going to pair it will a gold strappy heal. http://www.suzyshier.com/_static/web...75224_80_6.jpg We are thinking of having the guys in a dark beige short with white shirts and the groom in long pants similar color with a bright orange shirt. Probably long sleeved button down. Do you think the guys and my fiance's attire will look okay with the bridesmaides dresses? My wedding dress is chiffon, full length ivory, but it is basically white.

Will whiter pearls be too mismatched? I don't want anything too fancy, trying to stay simple and classy but I thought some sort of stud would look nice. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!!! I think a silver earing would look nice, something dainty and simple, pearl earings might look to matchy matchy and dated.

Eva & Michael asked us to base something on Char & Mike's response card down below and I think Omar did a pretty good replica . As far as Katie's maracas go .... well, I had a brain freeze moment. Before posting the REAL maracas, the FIRST person (minus the people/guests involved in this particular wedding to comment on the blog and tell me what's wrong with the picture down below, wins a hand-painted fan from Mishka Designs and I'll pay the shipping!! So, put yer thinking caps on and lemme know! Coming-up more maracas and a few inspiration notes as I'm working hard on some upcoming events. May is speeding to a close!! Hope this does not sound weird but that dress makes your booty looked smashing! lol. That is really awesome that the designer was there to hand pick a dress for you, congrats.

  13. Hi everyone, just wanted to share that I am going to the Royal Decameron March 26-April 2, 2011. She has been very great to work with thus far and has answered my many emails. I dont have the final quote yet however the initial pricing info has been reasonable. I also have lots of information about the Resort and have been in communication with the wedding coordinator. Happy Planning!

Again, feel free to make suggestions.... Here is my FI modeling the Best Man's attire. I searched high and low to find a shirt. I looked on island importers and all the other tropical wedding sites.Looked at Tommy Bahama and could not fine a shirt with Aqua or teal in it(Teal is actually my color but this is close enough, everybody will be looking at my anyways right). We ended up going to the mall on my lunchbreak to kill time and we found this shirt at J C Penny's for 25.00!!!! I really like the pic of him with just the shirt and kaki pants, however I feel that a little color is needed, maybe if he wore a bright boutiner or if he wants to wear the suit jacket, maybe a bright colored tye, just my opinion. Good deals you found!

  16. I am adding 2 very thin straps to either side that will create a V shape at the back. I call them my bling straps as they have some sequence/beading. I say whatever makes you comfortable. Hope the link works......... Venus Bridals

Some advice/info from them..... 1. Bring a big insulated Mug 2. Alarm Clock 3. Wedding Coordinator Jennifer is awesome, organized and easy to work with 4. Go to Salyuta not sure of the spelling, but amazing surfing to watch or try yourself, about 10 minutes past Bucarieus. I am sure it will be a beautiful wedding. You will have to give me an update when you return.

I believe you have to call ahead and request it. You will want the south end of the building, as pool number 1 is at the north end it is very noisy and is the party spot until about midnight. -Definitely go to the mexican a la carte it was delicious. the Italian was very good as well. (it's the only restaurant with a/c). the japjap (japanese) and the wok(thai) were ok but I think I would rather had more choices at the buffet. -the cleaner the maids use smells so good! weird but it's one thing both my fiance and I loved haha. The show's at night were awesome! you have to go. 95% of the tourists are Canadian so the staff plays up the Canadian pride. (I almost felt bad for the Americans) -We read a lot of reviews on tripadvisor before going, so I feel we were prepared for most things you need to know about. It's a long way to Peurto Vallarta from the resort. I underestimated the distance. it's a 40 taxi ride to downtown PV. it will cost 200 pesos each way. We only went once which was fine by us, as Bucerias is an awesome little authentic mexican town that's right beside the RDC. -our room was one big shower only. We are going to go back to the RDC when we get married as that's where we got engaged. it's a perfect AI resort at a good price. We haven't decided if we are having the wedding at the resort or off. Hope this helps Billy Thank you Billy it is very helpful. Too bad PV is 40 minutes away, oh well I think we will still head in to town at least 1 day. Do you recall if there were bus trips that go to PV for clubbing/bar hopping?

It depends on what you want to spend. I went to Bryans Bridal in Brentwood Mall and my dress consultants name was Hallie, she was great. I found a gown from the Venus Bridal Line for $400 not sure if the link will work below. Venus Bridals

What was the best thing that you liked about the resort? 4. What was one thing that was not great or you wish you knew about before going? 5. Is there a bath tub in the room or just a shower? This question is for my mom as she loves her bathes, lol. Thanks for your input. Glad you had a good time at the resort, it looks beautiful, I love the bright colors and Mexican decor.

But once again, thank you! and congratulations on becoming a mrs! Hey did you end up with the Royal Decameron? I am thinking about it for an April 2011 Wedding.
