HI there, I too am getting married in the Dominican because it is more affordable for my guests. If you want modern this can be done on how you plan your decorations, reception, etc. Check out Dreams Palm Beach, the restaurants are very funky looking and can may have that feel you are looking for.

I agree with josietoms, I like the flip flops and think that the tennis shoes would be hot. My first thought when I saw them was "my feet would sweat in those".

Congratulations, yes having to plan around schedules and other people is difficult which is why I'm having to have my wedding during the school break in Ontario something wouldn't have done if I didn't have 4 people coming including my MOH who are school teachers. So far it's working out as more people want to come because it is the break and they can bring their children. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Do what will be best for you and the ones you want there and remember that you won't be able to please everyone.

Hi Chelymo, Congratulations on what sounds like a great day. We are getting married there as well and have also booked HDC. I have a couple of questions: 1. What time did you get married? We are scheduled for 5:30 and am wondering if there is time for photos or if we should do them before. 2. Did you have a reception/dance? If so, where? 3. I am expecting 35-45 people and was going to get a dinner package? Would you know what restauarants or where they can hold groups this size or should I consider not and saving money on the dinner package? I would like a dance. Thanks so much and once again congrats.

My bridesmaids are paying for their dresses. As for the dresses I've told them what colour I want them to be and are letting them choose their own style as they are all different sizes and shapes.

To be able to pay for all of our guests to attend our wedding. If you had a choice between being able to eat whatever you wanted and not gain a pound or extremely wealthy, what would you choose?

I was not going to register but am seriously thinking of it now as I found out that my family wants to havea shower for me even though I insisted it's not necessary. I also don't want gifts from guests attending the wedding but I've been told that I have no say in the matter and we will be putting alot of time and money into the wedding so why wouldn't our guests recogonize that. As well, everyone is looking at this as an opportunity to have a family vacation together that they would probably not do otherwise.

I'm still stressed about pricing and will continue to be until they go down (crossing fingers) and I can lock in the prices.
