I need advise on this. I have 3 best friends I have grown up with. One is my cousin who I've always said will be my MOH as she is like a sister to me. My other girlfriend I met in pre-kindergarten and the other in high school. I would love to have all 3 in my wedding party but my FI only wants his brother as he does not have close friends like I do. Is it weird if we have 3 bridesmaids and 1 best man? I also have 2 really good male friends who are also friends with my FI and I have suggested we ask them to stand up for both of us but on the guys side and he said he think about it but never seems to want to give me an answer when I bring it up. What should I do?

Eleven years ago my roommate and I threw a cookie exchange party before Christmas and she invited her co-workers. I was upstairs talking to my cousin and this guy is coming up the stairs and hit her and said, "I don't know who he is but he's kind of cute". He then walked right up to me and introduced himself and we've been together ever since. Turns out he had a heads up on me and had a thing for redheads and from my roommate talking about me he thought I sounded interesting and that we had similar taste in things like music. My roommate and I did not and she used to complain at work about it. The next day we were talking about the various cookies everyone brought and my favourite one of the night turned out to be the cookies he brought. Love over cookies, I guess it was meant to be.

We sent out our STD cards and our guests should be getting them today in the mail.

I think $1500 is quite possible and that is also my budget. I booked a 5*, adults only for this past March for just under $1500 in Samana, DR. The trip ended up getting cancelled (long story) but my point is that I was able to get this price range for a 5* and it was in mid-October that we booked and a lot of the resorts were in this price range.

Hello Fellow Ottawa Bride, Picking the resort is the hardest part (I think). It took us 3 months to decide but it is certainly alot of fun researching and dreaming about all these places. This forum is so helpful and has lots of great information that will make it easier for you. Happy planning!

I ended up sending the deposit for Dreams Palm Beach and am going to take my chances that the prices will drop by the end of summer. If I have to change it's only $100 I'll lose. I was with the TA when he called and was told by Sunwing that the prices will drop by the fall so I'm feeling better about that. Our guests will get the STD cards this month and the official invites as soon as we lock in prices. Still gives everyone lots of time.

Yahoo, I just sent off my deposit and reservation forms for Dreams Palm Beach for a March 15, 2011 wedding date. Just need to hold my breath now until the AI prices fall.

Yikes, I just got a quote for Dreams Palm Beach for the week of March 12, 2011 which is Ontario's March break and it is $2,384 with taxes. This is the earlybird special, if we don't book and pay by July the prices will go up $635 per person. There is no way the price should be over $3000 whether it's March break or not. I told my TA to check again in June and that I'm not locking in prices until they are closer to the $1500-1700 range which I am told probably won't drop to that until the fall.

I was with my TA when he phoned one of the travel carriers to get pricing and our pricing came over $2000 as well. However we were told this is because pricing is just coming out and the prices will drop after the summer. My TA has advised me to pick my resort (still trying to decide) based on this years prices and he will keep checking every couple of months for group rates. Once we have a price we are comfortable with (I'm hoping for $1500) then we will lock in pricing and notify our guests and they can make their deposits. I know it's tough to go in blind but if you aren't getting married until April 2011 you shouldn't have to lock in your pricing now. We are getting married in March 2011 and I'm trusing that my TA is giving me good advise.

Hi Sheri, Ocean Blue is on my list that I am awaiting pricing for from my TA. What did your guests end up paying for 1 week AI? Most of our guests will be leaving from Ottawa or Toronto. Good luck with your wedding. I almost want to wait to hear how your wedding was before picking our resort.

I am not taking my FI last name as I too believe that this is my identity and who I am. I have a unique Ukranian last name even though I have to spell it every time, Rogozynski. MY FI is not bothered by this.

Excellence looks amazing but we are going to have children at our wedding. So far I've asked for pricing for either of the Dreams resorts, Ocean Blue and Sands and Grand Palladium Bavaro.

Definitely, I didn't make my decision yet on resorts. It's so hard but TA is getting me pricing and I've been collecting the wedding package information and hopefully will be able to wrap my head around this soon.

At the Dreams resorts can you have your dinner at the buffet restaurant or one of the a la carte restaurants without having to pay extra? Some of my guests think it's crazy that we pay for extra dinners for the wedding when they've already paid for an all inclusive package. My FI doesn't want our guests to be eating the same food that they've had all week while I just want to go for what is most cost effective for our budget. Thanks!

Picking a resort that will be affordable for my guests. My family does not travel and many are going to be traveling for the first time so I need their AI package to be affordable and enjoyable for everyone. I wish AI pricing was out NOW.

I love those dresses. They are perfect for a destination wedding.

I will be a March 2011 bride as well. The same week, I just haven't picked my resort or exact date yet. I hope to make that decision this weekend.

Hi Amanda, Congrats on the booking. I recently discovered RIU Palace Punta Cana in my research and am seriously considering them to have our wedding. My FI and I are hoping to make a decision this weekend. Did you get pricing from the resort or just go by what is on the website? I'd like to know the prices for "extras".
