  1. I have 2 months to go and still haven't found shirts that I like for my groomsmen and FI! Ahhh casual long sleeved yellow button shirts must not be the 'in' thing this year.. My FI did find a suit at Dillards that he really likes - linen blend tan colored. If you're looking for linen suits (or any other summer suits) they seem to be out now. I saw some in Express, Banana Republic, Dillards, JC Penny, Younkers, and some other places too..
  2. We are using Consuelo for our rehearsal dinner - it was recommended to us and looks very good. The price is about $35/plate - but we are just having hors d'oeuvres and not a full plated meal. The food sounds really fancy (actually more so than I was planning on). My FI's parents are throwing it so I don't know ALL the details... but the price includes coffee and tea as well. They are getting SOOO many options for this price too... it seemed like 4 sea food options and a couple that are turkey, chicken, or steak. And then there are lots of desserts and other appetizer type foods. The lady is setting everything up at our condo that everyone is staying at and she will be there the entire time. It sounded like she was pretty flexible on the type of food you want to chose for your even as well. I'm not sure where this company is based - but we are staying pretty close to Kaanapali and using them.

You have to pay $8 per person for admission and chairs are $2.50 each. We got a package through Precious Maui Weddings and the total package came to about $1400. This includes the minister, 2 wedding leis, my bouquet, MOH Bouquet, 2 boutineirs, photographer & photos, hair and make up in room for me and MOH, entrance for 23 people, chairs and set up fee. Our reception is at Ruth's chris steakhouse. Wed have a set menu which is $69 per person. Its includes appetizer, salad, entree and desert. We're expecting about 23 people so with tax and tip the reception will cost about $1930. So total we're spending about $3330. I also used Precious Maui Weddings for my wedding package. I did the reception on my own. My price came out pretty similar to this one (sorry for so many posts! I guess I'm forgetfull and keep having things to add..)

  5. Oh I forgot location. We are getting married at Meriman's Kapalua. The site fee for that is $500. I included that in my total price above. It is a big enough area for a 40 person wedding. The reception is at Duke's. It's a restaurant on Kaanapali.
  6. We are planning on around 40 guests. For our ceremony (at a private location) the total cost ended up at about $1450. We still have to order chairs at $5.50 a piece when we have a final count. We are anticipating about $200 for that. This includes the basic things you would want at your wedding, but nothing over the top. It includes flowers, musician, photography, on site wedding coordinator...etc We are having our reception at a restaurant on the beach. We are anticipating that to be about $1500-$1600. This would be a 3 course dinner for everyone, only including coffee and tea for drinks. So we are guessing about $3200 for everything. We still might add in a couple rounds of drinks and dessert at the restaurant, but we haven't decided yet on those things. The drink prices in Maui seem to be pretty high so I'm not sure exactly how much that would cost.

I've reserved it through VRBO is Vacation Rentals By Owner - on that website you can rent the condo directly from the condo owner so it's usually a lot nicer and less expensive. I LOVE staying at a condo over a hotel. The one we stay at is right on Sugar Beach, so you can wander out to the beach in the morning with your coffee. With a condo you can grocery shop, make breakfast each morning (fresh pineapple!), bbq by the beach - it just feels more homey to me. I agree that this method usually gets you a very nice room at a cheaper price. It seems like the best way to go! My FI and I ended up deciding to move around a little bit rather than book a full week in one place though... We caught a few deals after searching the internet forever! We ended up in a condo for a few days north of Kaanapali and then some nicer hotels in Wailea/Makena.
  8. Do you know which part of the island you want to get married at, west or south?? Or what type of price range you're thinking?
  9. Yay!! Isn't it such a releif!?!? Choosing a planner was the most difficult part for me! Now I have put all trust in mine to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I'm interested in how much do you pay for how many guests so i can have a clue. Please lets me know, [email protected], really appreciated if i end up booking your vendor especially you already have good experience with them I went with Deanne's "Gardenia" package (and took out the minister since we are bringing our own) -- $545. I am having around 40 guests. You can see what that includes here Maui Wedding Packages, Hawaii Wedding Packages, Maui Hawaii Wedding Packages We added a musician for the ceremony ($175), 3 single stem flowers for my bridesmaids to carry ($15), 8 leis for grandparents & parents ($8, and 3 boutonnieres for our groomsmen ($27) So that came out to about $850 for everything through Deanne. Our ceremony site is $500 + cost of chairs (Meriman's Kapalua) -- she booked that for us as well, which was the same price if we booked it without using Deanne. AND instead of added extra photography we are buying a CD of all of the pictures they take so that we can bring that home and print out what we want when we get home ($100 is the estimate for now) -- this is done directly with the photographer and not Deanne. We are taking care of the reception seperately on our own, but above pretty much includes everything else! Hope that helps -- let me know if you have any questions.

We struggled a bit between Nancy and Marbelle but I think we're going to go with marbelle. How did you find her to work with? I love the photo's she takes but I also want to be sure that it's not just posed pics and also able capture the moment in the ceremony and also the more conventional wedding photo's - I guess I'm hoping for a good mix. Did you find you got a good variety with your pics? Stacey - which photographer did you choose to go with? I am letting Deanne take care of it... I'm pretty trusting, haha I picked a package with her and added on anything that I specifically wanted.
  12. I am having my bridesmaids carry single stemmed flowers.. I have always really liked the simple look of it. I think they are going to be $15 each (doing calla lilies). I'm not sure but they might kind of make a little bouquet out of the one flower -- ribbon or something. Either way I will be happy and it didn't cost a lot..
  13. Awww such a good story I bet it drove you crazy to hide that ring for 10 months!
  14. Ahhh the holidays are the worst for that! haha Thanksgiving and Christmas were rough - hopefully Easter isn't quite so bad I love sweets! And every holiday means at least 3 family gatherings to attend packed full of them!!
  15. Day 2 -- missing caffeine and chocolate already!! At least this program lets you eat what you want on Sunday :-) Hopefully I'm not sore the whole time! Maybe by week 3 it will just be a daily routine vs a workout that's kicking my butt, haha
  16. I was looking for a tropical hair flower for a while too and couldn't find what I wanted. I ended up ordering a real touch hair flower clip from Enchanting Memories. I haven't gotten it yet, but it's only $15 + shipping (they charge what it costs them). I'm pretty excited about it but no pictures yet to show you.. I ended up ordering a tiger lily, but you can pick just about whatever you want. Prices may be different for different sized hair flowers.
  17. This is pretty much what we have spent (not exactly sure what the reception and AHR will come out to, but everything else is paid) Flights for Me & FI: $988 Rooms for 1.5 weeks (wedding/honeymoon): $1,972 Rehearsal dinner: $1,000 Wedding Ceremony Location: $500 Chairs for Ceremony: $250 WC (includes flowers/photography/musician): $880 Photo CD with rights: $150 Reception: $2,000 STD/Invitations/Luggage Tags: $450 AHR: $6,000 TOTAL: $14,000 Attire for me & FI: $1,700 Wedding Bands: $550 Engagement Ring: not sure
  18. An hour and a half drive isn't bad... (haha actually sounds great to me since I have to drive 3.5hrs) and I've only been to JFK once - it didn't seems THAT bad.. but like I said, only once - might have been lucky. If you think he would like it that much and you were that excited about it - I would still go for it through JFK. But honestly he is going to be excited about going to DR to marry you either way I wouldn't stress too much..
  19. I just ordered these for a bridal store in town. The bridesmaids/groomsmen will be barefoot - so I decided to go with casual nice flip flops - I love them and they aren't expensive Wedding Flip Flops in Iridescent Taffeta: The Dessy Group
  20. Ohhh I love the shell combs -- I need to quit looking at these hair accessory threads! I can't put everything in my hair that I see and love! haha - I've already bought a real touch flower hair pin and those starfish hair pins! I wanted to get a veil too - my hair will look like a birds nest if I don't quit!
  21. litl april -- I guess a lot has changed in the last year... My cousin was married down there 5 years ago and several things he did I can't do this year. Kaanapali is pretty restricted now -- no weddings on the beach, not even photography allowed. All other beaches are ok - except that no chairs on the beach are allowed anywhere from the sounds of it. I think that's all pretty new now though - I talked to Deanne (actually didn't trust her at first and did quite a bit of research as well). I'm happy now though - I found a great location at Kapalua Bay Did you find your own photography rather than using hers??
  22. I ordered these --> Cassandra Lynne — Swarovski Clear Crystal Silver Starfish Hair Pin Set I love them - but they are pretty small, maybe not what you're looking for. But I got them very quickly, and it was only $15 after tax/shipping and everything.
  23. My wedding is June 7th - so I don't actually have any experience with the vendors yet.. I am working with Deanne at Precious Maui Weddings. I can say that she is very nice, helpful, easy to work with, and responds to any emails/phone calls very quickly. Her prices are also very reasonable.
