Hello, I was just curious to see where Canadian brides were booking their destination weddings. I'm having a bit of an issue with the resort I've already selected and put a deposit on. The destination wedding specialist I have been working with assured me it was within a certain price range and after telling some of my guests they were finding very expensive prices. I looked up every site imaginable and the cost was way more than she had told us. SO.....I might have to start from scratch again. :-( I don't expect my guests to pay over $2000 to come to my wedding. Just curious to see where other brides are going from Canada and if the prices are reasonable for your guests. I'm findin the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum is very reasonably priced and it looks really nice. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Who said a destination wedding was without stress?? haha

Oh ya I forgot to mention the wedding albums. I am definitely going to purchase the DVD of pictures so I can go back home and make my own album. My friend got married in the summer and has a hard-cover storybook wedding album. It is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and I definitely want one! Moments that Matter Photography offer it as an option. You can look up a company in the states called Pictage that makes the albums. I just went to a wedding show a few weeks and alot of the photographers now are sending the pics away to get them made. They are a little pricey but worth every penny!! They are amazing!

Peterpanpixiedust - That TTD session sounds amazing. I was going to get Juan to do it but that sounds like so much fun! Can you share the info when you find out more? Phillybride - thanks for providing feedback on the photographer. Juan does take amazing pics. I wanted Claudia Rodriquez but maybe I will just stick with the resort photographer and save myself some money. I was definitely planning to hire Mike Cantarell as our videographer but if he is part of the Dreams wedding package that is fantastic! My DSW is getting in touch with Claudia to confirm and see what he provides as part of the package. Thanks for the help ladies! :-)

Elizabeth Medina and Del Sol are amazing but too pricey for me! I am looking into Claudia Rodriquez for photography and Mike Cantarell for videography. Phillybride - Juan does take amazing pics too. I have to compare the costs and what they offer to make my final decision. How many hours did you have him? Is the video your wedding pics set to music or is it an actual video? Peterpanpixiedust - I think the bridal party covering up the rocks is a great idea. I will 6 people on each side which will help deal with the new view. haha So..how long are most of you having your photographer and/or videographer at the wedding? If you choose 5 hours would that be from like 3-8pm for example or is it 5 hours of shooting. What if they are eating or something? haha I want to make sure I have them for all the important things but paying for a full day for both is going to be crazy expensive. Any feedback would be appreciated. I'm just trying to get a sense of what other brides are doing.

I've emailed 13 brides so no need to post the pics now. It is definitely not the same view as before but the pics made me feel much better. The facebook pics are terrible and the rocks look like an eye sore but it's not as bad once you see everything set up. I'm sure the photographers will have lots of ways of getting around having the rocks and the beach in much of the picture. I have 6 bridesmaids and groomsmen so I'm hoping they will hide the rocks a bit. haha So glad I could help and send the pics ladies! If Claudia decides to send me more pics to further ease my mind I will share them as well. The resort photographer took all the pics. Does anyone have some leads on good photographers? I like Moments that Matter but Claudia Rodriquez does pics and video and I really want a video. I see them and they make me cry. I want one! haha

Hello everyone, I just wanted to provide an update on the new beach at Dreams Cancun and how it affects the gazebo view. At first, I was very upset and if you look at the pic on their Facebook page it does look like an eye sore. However, Claudia was so great to get back to me right away and send me some pics of recent weddings. I feel 100% better now because it is not that bad at all once you see the gazebo setup for the wedding. It's still the most beautiful destination wedding location out there!! So if anyone was concerned about this you can relax bc it is still gorgeous! :-) I can't post the pics on here because I haven't posted enough yet to have those privledges apparantly. haha If anyone is interested, I can send you the pics that Claudia sent me if you want to see what the gazebo looks like with the new beach. You can email me at [email protected]. So excited again! haha I can't wait to get married at Dreams. We sent our deposit this week.

Is anyone on here getting married within the next month or so? I'm dying to see pictures of a wedding at Dreams now that they have the new beach. I found out about the new beach on this site and some people were talking about how the gazebo view was ruined. I emailed Claudia to see pics of the new beach and the gazebo view and she told me to join the Facebook group to see the pics. Well....I just checked the photos and I can honestly say I am so upset!!! One of the main reasons I chose this resort after endlessly searching other resorts was because of the breathtaking view of the gazebo. Now you will have a view of rocks and a beach on one side. I need to see pics of someone's wedding coming up. Right now I'm ready to pull out and start from scratch. Maybe it's just a bad picture...I'm hoping!! I can't imagine getting married anyone else. My heart is set on Dreams Cancun. I feel like crying....does anyone else feel this way??

Hello Ladies, It's so great to see some 2011 brides on here. I'm getting married April 6th, 2011 at Dreams Cancun and I am so excited. We are putting down our deposit this week. We are probably going to have about 40-50 people. I totally understand what many of you are going through right now trying to pick a resort. I was trying to find something that everyone would like and was losing what "WE" wanted for "OUR" wedding. I could've been a travel agent for Mexico at the end of my searching but I kept coming back to Dreams Cancun. I fell in love with the gazebo and the lighthouse. I'm from the Maritimes so I just felt like I could have pics that looked like I was home at the lighthouse and the gazebo was just stunning. They also have a nice pier in the water for some great pics. It had everything that we wanted for our wedding. Our choices were also very limited because we have kids attending our wedding so we needed a family-friendly resort. We are going to spend the week with our family and friends and than move to a more private adults-only resort afterwards for a honeymoon. Our DWS told us it will probably cost between $1300-$1500 for an all-inclusive 7 day package for our guests so we thought the cost was reasonable as well. I'm seeing so many beautiful wedding dresses on here and it's making me want to go shopping!!! I decided I was going to wait until June to look for my dress when my MOH moves back home but it is so tempting! haha I'm having a hard time right now trying to pick a photographer. It would probably be cheaper to just go with the photographer on the resort but I only plan on getting married once so I want our pics to be amazing and I want a video as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for a place that does great pics and video? I emailed Claudia Rodriguez bc I heard great reviews but I haven't heard back from her yet. I got off the planning for a bit since I feel I have so much time but it will be here in no time. I'm back in planning mode again so look out! haha Tara :-)

You are going to hear mixed reviews about everything. I am getting married in April 2011 at Dreams Cancun and my TA is through destinationweddings.com and it is the best decision I ever made!!!! My destination wedding specialist (DWS) lives in New Jersey and I live in Halifax, NS, Canada. She gets back to me right away with any questions, calls vs. emails so we get to know each other, and she was able to get my date confirmed with the wedding coordinator at Dreams Cancun in 2 days!! I've read many brides on here getting married at Dreams Cancun commenting that while Claudia (Wedding Coordinator) does a great job she is very hard to reach and it is a frustrating process. I don't have to deal with any of that because my DWS handles all that for me. They take care of the travel for you, work with the wedding coordinator, book all your guests travel, and they have an emerg 24/7 number in case anything goes wrong. I feel so comfortable knowing that if something goes wrong with a guests flight, room, etc. they deal with it and not me. :-) You ask the questions and tell them what you want and they do what they can to make it happen. They pick someone for you that has done weddings at the resort you choose. If you don't like the person they pair you with you can request someone else. They know how to get deals on travel and bargain with the wedding coordinators. You ask them questions and tell them what you want and they do their best to make it happen for you. It is amazing!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing this. It's only $50 so you really have nothing to lose. :-)

Thanks everyone!! I keep going back to Dreams Cancun and getting excited so I think it could be the one. I can picture myself getting married in the gorgeous gazebo, getting pics by the lighthouse on the rocks, the pier. It just seems like there are a lot of nice places to get pictures besides just on a beach. It is a hard decision to make bc I want to make sure i make the right one. I'm still learning how to navigate this site so I have some more researching to do. Thanks!!! :-)

Hello ladies, I think I seriously have looked at every resort website for Cancun and the Mayan Riviera! After countless hours of navigating on the net with tired eyes, my fiancee and I have narrowed it down to 3 places: 1) Dreams Cancun 2) Barcelo Maya 3) Moon Palace .... these are also in the order of my favs so far. :-) We want to have the wedding of our dreams with a beautiful gazebo and the best night of dancing at a reception ever! We love to dance! haha We are also trying to consider our guests by picking a great vacation spot at an affordable rate for most people. Seeing some of your pictures and reviews is SO HELPFUL!! I think I should be able to make my decision over the weekend. Any thoughts, suggestions, pics or reviews you would like to share. I have lots of time since we are getting married in April 2011 but on the other hand that will be here before you know it. Time flies when you're having fun! Tara :-)
