Haha...I'm glad I'm not the only that is obsessive and cheating on their TA. This new TA seems to be on the ball and knows her stuff. She is calling around as I type trying to get me the best possible group rate and fast! I might just love this woman. HAHAHA

I just want to book my trip now but I don't feel like I'm getting the best price. I'm cheating on my TA and asked another one to give me prices and quotes! The one with the best price wins! haha Just kidding! Â Barbie girl....keep me posted on how you are doing with your booking since I think we have very similar prices and I'll do the same. Â I hope we can all get prices we're happy with. I think we will. :-) Â

So they won't allow an outside vendor but can you have a guest who is staying at the hotel take your pictures? There has to be some OPTIONS!! They can't be so strict about this. Every other resort at least gives you the option to purchase a day pass for an outside photographer or have a guest take your pictures. If enough people complain about this than maybe they will change it. Do they know that this forum exists because you can seriously lose a ton of business by acting this way? I was so excited about my wedding and know I'm starting to stress out and not want to go there. What about videographers? Let me guess he does that too. I want an actual videographer, not a CD of my pictures set to music. Â Did anyone get a video of their wedding done by the resort that they could share? I thought destination weddings were supposed to be less stress! haha Â

I am a little freaked out right now if it is true that we can't even have a guest take our pictures. I'm sorry but it is the most important day of my life and I don't think it is fair for them to tell us who we can and can't have to take pictures for our wedding. I emailed the photographer directly and asked for sample pics. He just kept telling me that he was excited to take pictures at my wedding. His website was terrible. I'll have to check him out on Facebook. I guess there is no flexibility with the videographer as well which sucks!! We're going to have about 50 or more come to our wedding and paying good money to have our wedding at the resort. We should have the option to decide who we want for OUR wedding. Ugh...I hope this is not the case. Â Does anyone have any pictures that he has done for their wedding? I would love to see some to ease my mind. Thanks! Â

Is everyone getting some good rates for your travel? I'm getting married on April 6th, 2011 at the Gran Bahia Principe Resort. The quotes I'm getting from my TA are a lot higher than we thought. She is saying they are group rates but not much cheaper than just getting the ticket yourself online.  Is anyone using group rates or booking individually? Is anyone waiting till the Fall to see if the prices will come down? I just want to book my trip NOW! haha  I'm also trying to figure out what resort to transfer to for our honeymoon. We are thinking El Dorado Seaside Suites....any suggestions??

I am buying my bridesmaids dresses too! I have 6 bridesmaids and they are all my closest friends in the world. They are spending a lot of money to be there for my special day and they would be just as happy to be watching as they would be standing up there with me so I feel like if I want them to be up there with me I will pay for their dress. I always said when I got married I would pay for my bridesmaid dresses because often times it is a waste of money. I've stood in 3 weddings and I've never worn the dress again. They always try to convince you it is something you could wear again but you never do. hahaha  I was hoping I would find a cute summer dress that they could easily wear again but that is really hard to find. They range in size from 2 to 20 so I'm having a hard time finding something they all like. I might just tell them to go find something they like but in the same color but I think it would be hard to find the same shade of blue.  So...I'm buying their dress. It just feels like the right thing to do for me. :-)

Hello, Â I'm getting married on April 6th, 2011 at the Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya resort in Mexico. Has anyone booked their travel for Mexico yet? Just curious to see what rates you are getting. Mine are higher than accepted but still not that bad. I'm hoping they will come down in the Fall. Â I was also wondering if anyone is staying after the wedding to honeymoon there as well. We were thinking of transferring to an adults only resort once everyone leaves. We just want to relax alone for a few days after the wedding. If anyone else is doing this, where are you staying?? Just trying to pick a resort for the honeymoon.

I felt the exact same way but it is a lot of pressure to put on yourself. I just started to look at things a little differently. Basically, I went dress shopping looking for something that would make me feel great at the weight I am right now which I'm not happy about. If I can find something that I feel good in now than I will feel like a million bucks when I lose weight and put it on! hahahaha It seemed to work and I found the perfect dress for a destination wedding!!

I just finished reading two books and they were both excellent! I couldn't put them down. "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls and "Still Alice" by Lisa Genova. I highly recommend these books!  I just started reading the last book of the Twilight series, "Breaking Dawn". haha  For anyone that is trying to decide on whether or not to read "Eat, Pray, Love" I would say give it at try. I really enjoyed the book. I found the middle section of the book when she was in India to be a little slow at times but overall the book is worth the read!  So glad I found this thread....I love to read and this will give me great ideas for more books! Thanks ladies! :-)

Anything would look great because the scenery is so beautiful. I have pretty much the same colors as Murmel. I was originally going with orange and fuschia but changed it to aqua or a bright, beachy blue with a lime color (not bright though). I think it will be gorgeous but I'm biased! haha

Omg that is terrible!! I can't even imagine one of my family members dying in such a tragic way. So sorry to hear about your loss. You and your family are in my prayers. :-(

They told me I need a booking number to start the wedding planning other than the ceremony. Have you booked your flights yet? I'm just getting quotes now.

Hello ladies, I went shopping with my BM's on Saturday and found the perfect dress!! I found two Maggie Sottero dresses that were gorgeous but I still wasn't happy as I should be. I was still worried I would be too warm. The last dress the bridal consultant pulled for me was everything I was looking for. It is so lightweight and comfortable and I feel amazing in it. Here is the link to my dress that I'm ordering this week: I bought my headband already so I could try it on with the dresses! haha I'm more worried now about my BM's dresses. We found one that everyone liked except one person. She wants me to get them made. I'm paying for the dresses so I don't want to pay a fortune for each dress. I do have 6 BM's so I would like them to be under $200 incl. tax. So excited to finally have a dress!

There are so many BEAUTIFUL dresses posted on here! I just started shopping for my wedding dress and I'm going again on Saturday with all of my BM's. I noticed that a few of the dresses look like they would be heavy. Last week I found I was just grabbing a dress and lifting a dress to see how heavy it is before even looking at it. I quickly eliminated half of the store. Is anyone else concerned about how hot they will be? I know it's the most important day of my life and I want to look beautiful but I don't want to be sweating like crazy and uncomfortable all day. I want a dress that I can wear all day and have fun in. Any suggestions on what kind of material I should be looking for that is breathable?? I found one last week that I loved and I was so shocked because it was the complete opposite of what I thought I would want. It was plain and strapless but once I added some jewelery and a headband I was in love. I'm thinking I will have my dress picked out by Saturday night. So excited!!

I'm still waiting to get some quotes from my TA but we're hoping it will be $1500 or less for our guests. We will probably have a fairly larger group of people going to our wedding so I'm hoping we will get some good discounts. I just want to book something now!! haha

Hello ladies....I'm also getting married in April 2011. We're getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya resort on April 6th, 2011. I'm working on the STD's and our website right now and hope to have the STD's mailed out within the next 2 weeks. I want people to have lots of time to book vacation and save. I was going to send out my invites with me STD's but I decided to wait on the invites until I get quotes from TA. I'm doing DIY boarding pass invites which I will work on over the summer. I hope to have them sent out this summer as well and than give people a few months to book. I'm so excited!! I have been engaged since November and have not tried on wedding dresses! I know my personality and decided to wait. When I like something I get it, so I didn't want to get it too early. haha I'm going dress shopping with my mom first in a few weeks and than going with by bridesmaids. I can't take it anymore and just want to go shopping!!! I hope time flies!! I'm so excited!! April seems so far away now. haha Here's hoping we all get good rates for April 2011! :-)

Hello, I am so excited! My wedding date is FINALLY confirmed for April 6th, 2011 at the Akumal beach hammocks location. I can't wait to start booking everything in. I already started working on my boarding pass invites. haha Our vacation package from Canada is only for the Tulum or Coba resort, so which one would you recommend staying at? I'm so happy that I can still get married at the Akumal beach location, despite not staying there. Do you have your dinner and reception at the same place as your wedding or do you have them where you are staying? Just curious. I thought I read somewhere that you had to have your dinner and reception where you were staying. Thanks!

Hey ladies, I just started P90X this week and it's amazing!! I'm only on Day 3 and I feel sore but tight all over and I have more energy. It's a great feeling! I'm excited to see what the results will be after 3 months. I'm not following the diet and using all the recipes right now. I'm just trying to watch what I eat. I have a puppy that I have to walk/run every night too so I figure I'm doing pretty good for burning calories on a daily basis. I'm doing it to get in shape for wedding dress shopping and the summer. My FI is doing it with me so it's great to have that support. I can't do a chin-up if my life depended on it. I seriously just hung there and tilted my head back. It made me feel like I moved up a bit. LMAO Questions... 1) Are you doing the lean or classic program? We're doing the classic program. 2) Are you tracking your exercises (how many reps you can do) and your inches? I was thinking I might measure inches since I will be building muscle and I might not see my weight fall very quickly. I usually go by my clothes anyway. It keeps me motivated if my clothes fit better! Thanks! Tara

Anyone on this website could probably be a travel agent for Mexico trying to pick the right location for your wedding. After countless of hours of researching and looking at what every resort had to offer for our wedding and for our guests, we narrowed it down to 3 places than finally picked Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya. It has everything we are looking for and more and it's reasonably priced at any time of the year which takes a lot of stress and pressure off me. So excited to have a resort picked (again)! All I can say is thank god I started planning early so I had room for mistakes and rebookings. Thanks for all your help and suggestions!

Thanks everyone!! You have been very helpful. We're going to look into finding a local travel agent (our TA now is in New Jersey through destination weddings.com) and go from there. Some of you were able to get some amazing deals!! I'll do my research before making any serious decisions about changing our resort. Luckily, I'm ahead of the game and still have a year. I like to plan ahead! haha
