We booked Ivan in May also. Ay yay yay.... I hope everything works out. Before Ana left, she called my travel agent and assured her that everything we had already agreed to would be honored. I'm going to try not to worry about it. If anyone hears more updates, please write a post about it. Thanks!!! Hopefully Ivan will work things out with Gabriela this week.

Hi girls, Â Has anyone who is using Doremixx for a DJ had recent contact with Ivan?? He is usually super responsive and very quick to reply. I've sent him two e-mails over the past three weeks and haven't heard a word.....making me a little nervous! Just wanted to see if anyone else has had luck contacting him.

Aubry's Dreams Riviera Cancun in July Review
allegraapple replied to aubry's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Thanks so much for your detailed review. Overall, sounds like you had a great trip. I have to say - when I was there for a site visit, the worst part of our experience was checking in and checking out. They just didn't seem to have it together. But everything else was good. Thanks again, and CONGRATS! -

IT'S THE BEST PLACE WE'VE EVER BEEN TO!! I started jumping up and down in the kitchen and got all misty eyed. Must make you feel great to know your guests are already loving it!!! That's awesome. Good luck and I'm sure your wedding will be fabulous :-)

Mmm. For some reason, I thought everything ($$) was due two days before the wedding. But, maybe I'm wrong. Would make more sense to pay after - just to make sure everything goes as planned. I have CONFIRMED with Ivan (from Doremixx) the pricing for the setup for a slideshow. However, I should clarify - we have a large group coming and we wanted to have something organized the night before the wedding. So we are going to do Karaoke for a few hours (which we'll be using Doremixx for) and he'll also bring stuff to set up a slideshow (for the extra fee I quoted earlier). If you wanted to do the slideshow during your reception or something, I'm sure he could work that out and I would imagine at the same price he quoted for us.

I am planning on doing a slideshow (although I guess that means I actually have to gather up some pictures and find someone to help me put it all together!!). Anyway - we are using DJ Doremixx for this and prices are as follows: Tripod screen: $50 US Video and data projector: $200 US I think the resort can do it also (there is a screen and projector in Desires night club that I think you can use). Ana's prices are the same, I believe - but not sure about if she arranges for someone to help play the slideshow. We are going to do this the night before our wedding.

To make matters worst, I've read 3 reviews on Tripadvisor about how hot/stuffy Portofino's can be. ARGH!!! Just ask/request that turning on the air conditioner will be an option/available if necessary for your party! Maybe it gets stuffy when they don't turn the air on??

My FI and I will be staying at DRC from 12/7 though 12/14 - then, I think we'll go somewhere else (TBD) for a few nights. Counting down....I'm starting to stress a little, as I feel like not much is totally finalized yet. Ahhh. We'll get there eventually.

Have you guys sent pictures to her and if so what did she say about it & any idea on what pricing is like? PBJwed & Boo - What dates are you staying at DRC? We might bump into each other The pricing of bouquets and centerpieces will depend on what flowers you want. The "included bouquet options" Ana sends out are examples of flowers that are in season all year round (included with the Dreams, Love, or Ultimate Package). If you like the flowers in those bouquets, but not necessarily the way they are arranged, I'm sure Ana will be able to re-arrange or do something different for you. If you want what's considered an exotic flower (for example, I know that white caly-lillies are available all year, but all other colors are considered "exotics"), then there will be a charge. I imagine pricing will differ, depending on which flowers you want. Hope this info is somewhat helpful. You'd need to tell Ana what colors of which flowers you want (if you don't see them in the 'included bouquets') and unfortunately get pricing from her. Unless there is a bride out there who paid for special flower arrangements and can share pricing info??

I want some alone time to get ready.. and enough space... and not to have to share bathroom/mirror/counter space with a bunch of other women.. its my wedding day!! =( It says per availability.. but you know how that goes.. i'm trying to prepare for the "sorry mam, we dont have another room available" and then i freak out lol. We actually just booked a regular room and may upgrade when we get there, not sure yet. We just didn't want to spend the extra $ for a plunge pool or anything because we will have 40 guests at the resort, many the same length of time as us so we won't have much alone time. We're planning to take another separate trip by ourselves next summer for our honeymoon. I think the bridal suite idea is a fabulous one!! (only if you are using the spa services though). I'd plan/be prepared for a back-up. It's a nice 'extra' that they offer the extra groom's room, but I know it's based on availability and you probably won't know for sure until the day before your wedding....bummer, I know. But better to be prepared about this than to be blind-sided I guess.

SO that’s a TOTAL OF $94.00 per person!!! And that doesn't even included the additional bottles of Champagne which is $ 38 usd + 15% service +10% tax per bottle!!! Now am I reading this wrong or is it really $94 a per person for any additional guest over the 20 included?!?! There is such a language barrier, lack of response and I have a hard time getting straight answers. If it is it is, but I just want to try and understand. And I will definitely be negotiating for we have 95 people already booked with another 15-20 still anticipated to book. And wedding is November 13, 2010. ANYONE WHO KNOWS PLEASE JUST LET ME KNOW.......MUCH APPRECIATE!!! :-) Yes - I think you are understanding correctly. It's about $100 extra per person for the food and alcohol beyond the 20pp included in the Ultimate package. We are also expecting a large group - but I'm hoping no more than around 90pp max - otherwise we are in trouble! Time will tell...

It's so hard to tell what the colors actually look like online!

She hasn't confirmed the jacuzzi area and I've sent her 2 emails but I'm not too worried about it. When she had given me options about other things previously and I was waiting for her confirmation, she always had it set. I think she makes note of these things even though she doesn't get back to you right away. I think when you first contact Dreams about having a wedding there, they should inform you that reception locations need to be reserved far in advance. I didn't even think to ask about it before we reserved our date. Maybe they should put some of that kind of info on the website so people know what to ask prior to reserving a date. And other things could be on there like the menu options, etc. so you don't have to wait for Ana to get back to you. Oh well, something for the suggestion box I guess I totally agree. I think there should be a Frequently Asked Questions page on the DRC website for brides/wedding inquiries. They could have so much info listed there and I'm sure it would reduce the ridiculous # of e-mails Ana and Yasmin get on a daily basis. It's so silly because I'm sure they get asked the same questions over and over again re: reception/ceremony locations, spa prices, table sizes, menu options, flower/bouquet/centerpiece options, etc. They just need someone to create this for them because they don't have time to do it! Ahhhh - maybe one day. If management were smart, they'd do it soon.

I wonder if by 'pool deck' she means the Gazebo area and 'pool terrace' indicates the wooden deck area between the infinity pool and the beach. Any other thoughts?

Sorry, I don't have any pics of the room, but I thought it was a super cool vibe. Feels like you are in wine bar (go figure). There are bottles of wine lining the wall, and it's a nice private space. Max capacity is around 25 people.

We'll be there 2 days before the wedding and I would love to have it at the Seaside grill or El Patio. Anyone asked Ana this yet? If you want to use Seaside Grill or El Patio for your reception, just e-mail Ana with your preference. As long as you are paying extra (the per person rate for food and alcohol above whichever package you chose), and you have a large enough group (40 is big enough), I'm pretty sure she will make that happen and they will reserve the restaurant for your private-paying group/party. I'm just not sure they would close an entire restaurant for a small group. Regardless, my advice is to at least let her know your preferences - and if you have a few choices you'd be willing to accept, all the better.
