One of my best friends has been unemployed for almost a year now. I asked her to be one of my bridesmaids because she literally is like a sister but I also made sure to tell her I understood if she could not make it because of financial reasons. She is somehow still planning on going and pulling every move she can to be there. Did you go to Iberostar? How was it? I have never been there!

I am going for two weeks also. I do not think it will be too long. I am switching resorts for my honeymoon though. We will go leaving Iberostar and going down to Secrets adults only for the 2nd week.

I also have the menu pptions if you would like them. You have a choice of 5 menu's I believe. The only thing I was told was beach receptions have to be buffet. I was also recently informed that if I used the ballroom guests would have to be transported after dinner. That is not an option so Cajun it is for me (buffet is also not an option). I am going to ask about the place by the pool though since I will have over 60 guests attending.

Most of my guests are booking through destinationweddings.com. Iberostar just had a big fall sale (45% off reg rates) and everyone who booked received a credit due to the sale.

I am getting married November 12th. Some of my guests (including myself) booked in January for 380 non stop round trip from NY. Non stop is now over 600 round trip. Many of my guests have since only booked the room in the hope flights will go down during the summer.

I almost bought another designers dress just like it but decided to go with Lea Ann Belter. Her dresses are so light and I love the material! -

I looked into having my reception on the beach. It looks fantastic! The problem for me was that they only offer buffet style dinner and both of our parents are against buffet dinner at reception.

Most people so far have booked for 4 nights. My parents got 1600 per person at Iberostar Maya, direct flight from JFK including all taxes and transfers. I believe Lindo was quoted to us about 100 less per person. I have a feeling that prices may drop soon with all the negative press about traveling to Mexico.

Reyna's laughing her way to the bank with my $. haha Lisa- Yes, if you get that in writing, I would really appreciate it if you could forward that to me! BTW, who is your wedding planner and what details is she handling? I'm not using one currently, but am admittedly a little anxious about handling all the details myself. I am using Destinationweddings.com. My TA has been very helpful. Not only his he booking all my guests (at the lowest rates anyone can find) he also is working with Iberostar. He has personally met both wedding planners and they seem to have a good relationship with him. They answer all his emails within a day. He also helped me with booking DJ and photographer (still have not decided on that though!)

I would do the "Dream" Religious Package for $4,650. Quick question for you : The sheet says $20pp over the 10 guests included. Is the $13pp open bar in addition to that? I am also confused about that. I have asked many times and only get a response of "you will need to pay additional open bar fee per guest over 10". She attaches the open bar prices which state 13.00 per person. If I can get her to write "the 20.00 per person does not apply only the 13.00 per person" I will send you a copy of that email. The room does look nice. My wedding planner has been to a wedding there and said they do a beautiful job.

Are you having a DJ or band at the Cajun as well or does dancing have to be done elsewhere? I really like pics I've seen of a bride's wedding at the Del Mar's Italian restaurant, and I know you can do your entire reception in that venue -- which is important to us. Do you happen to know if Lindo brides can have their reception at the Del Mar? The Dream package is $5,000 (if you have legal ceremony). It includes the 4 hour dinner reception, welcome cocktail party and alot of other stuff. I have the list if you want me to email it to you send me your email address. I can also send pictures of the Cajun rest. that I was sent (a few with reception set up). We are having the dinner and dancing all at the Cajun. We hired DJ Bob for the full 4 hours. It was very important to me that dinner and dancing all take place in the same venue. I did not want my guests taking a trolly from dinner to reception.

Any input on this? If La Brisa is an option, I certainly want to look into this. Reyna in the Sales Dept just confirmed my date today and said I will be dealing directly with the WC's at the Lindo going forward. Their names are Lili Perez and Mayra Ramirez. Is this who you have been working with? if so, have you found them helpful? Hi. I am getting married at Maya on 11/12/10. I was also told the Cajun restuarant is the only option for private dinner reception. I was told if you bought the Dream package this was included free of charge. The open bar fee seems to be $13.00 per person (i say seems as it is hard to get anyone to confirm this amount). I was told La Brisa is part of Grand. If I wanted to have my reception there I would have to pay 125.00 per guest not staying at the Grand plus an additional per person fee over that. I never received that amount as I have kids coming (not allowed at La Brisa) and I do not want to spend that kind of money (I will have around 60 people not staying at Grand).
