  7. Hey Yzzel, The Blue Venado is a very new location, so we will be heading there soon for some test photos. If you are going with a smaller, non-resort venue, I would highly recommend hiring a local wedding planner to work out all the details. I understand how difficult it can be when you are not on location yourself and when you are dealing with a different culture and language. Here is a planner I have worked with often and can highly recommend: - Luisa or Genela at www.weddingsrivieramaya.com You can also check out the Ak'iin Beach Club in Tulum. I've shot a few weddings there and it is a beautiful location as well. Luisa and Genela also work with this location. Hope that helps widen your non-resort options! Please let me know if you have any questions!
  8. Newbie looking for a non resort venue!!!..
  9. Welcome and congratulations! The Princess beach-front wedding palapa has some great wooden details and seeing as it is closed in, will make for a more intimate and cozy setting. I did a shoot there not long ago if you want to get a feel for the palapa ceremony. Grand Princess Wedding Shoot Happy Planning!!

  11. I think a big factor, at least down here in the Riviera Maya, is the accessibility and variety of food and drinks at the boutique hotels. Some of the most beautiful smaller hotels can be quite isolated and if you are not planning on organizing transportation to the nearby town, the costs can add up fast for your guests (even though the room will be cheaper). If you are planning a hotel that is more centrally located, let's say close to Playa del Carmen, for example, there are infinite options for eating and drinking at all budget levels. Another thought consideration would be the package deals you can arrange with a travel agent. Including airfare and an AI hotel in a package (especially in off seasons) can lower the price dramatically. Happy Planning!!
  12. Congratulations and welcome to the forum!! My assistant is also Canadian, there is a large community down here in the Riviera Maya! Happy planning.
  13. Welcome and Congratulations! March is generally a great month weather-wise, not too wet or too hot yet. You will be close to Akumal, so if you enjoy snorkeling that is a great spot for seeing large turtles. You are also very close to the Cenotes for some snorkeling as well or perhaps an unforgettable Trash The Dress session! Make sure you check out the WIKI Destination Outdoor Wedding Tips and Advice for some extra little help in planning.
  14. Bienvenida and congratulations! Along a similar feel of Canibal is also Blue Venado, a beach club in Playa del Carmen (www.bluevenado.com). Be sure to check out the WIKI Destination Outdoor Wedding Tips And Advice for some little tips and suggestions.

Mahekal it’s a lovely small front beach hotel in the heart of Playa del Carmen: That’s because you will get a human size and personalized wedding comparing to what you can get in big factory resorts with over 10 wedding a day! I covered Jana and Jorge’s wedding at Mahekal beach hotel. I hope that will helps you to plan your wedding there. To give you just an idea, see below some pics of their wedding:

  20. Welcome and congratulations!! There are many photographers right here on the site. I would recommend browsing through our websites or blogs to get a feel for the hotels on your shortlist! It will give you a more specific idea of ceremony locations, the color scheme of the hotel, and the general personality of the hotel (often, more so than the hotel websites themselves!). And don't forget that the Riviera Maya has amazing places for unforgettable Trash the Dress experiences. (check out The Blog for some ideas) Happy Planning!
