After trying on the dress in 2 different sizes, a 4 and a 6, the salesgirl insisted I purchase a size 8, even though the 6 was obviously the best fit and would only require a bit of taking in. I felt like they were trying to squeeze extra money out of me from alterations by making me go with a bigger size. I didn't purchase the dress there, and the last comment the salesgirl made before I left was "if you get it altered anywhere else, we can't be responsible for it!"
I wound up ordering the size 6 from the store where the other bridesmaids had ordered from (to ensure the same lot number for colour consistency). To save money, I went to a seamstress elsewhere, who did an awesome job for a fraction of what David's Bridal was going to charge me.
I'd have to think twice before going back to David's Bridal. I didn't even think of that. The only dress that I really liked from the ones I tried on was a 14 and they didn't have a smaller sample available for me to try. The sales lady was actually trying to get me to buy it (the size 14 sample) and telling me all it needed was a little alteration that they could do on site. Yeah right, if I let go of the dress, it fell to my waist. It was clearly way too big and needed a lot of alteration. Now I'm realizing it was totally so I would spend more getting it altered. Well that did not work, bad customer service meant I bought my dress elsewhere.
