Ladies, I'm having a hard time deciding between Reserve and Royal Service at PPC. I've heard that Reserve is newer but all ages and at the back of the resort whereas Royal Service is older but adults only and closet to the beach. However, the additional services and ammenities are pretty much the same for both. Is that correct? Â Also, who does the translation of the wedding ceremony? Is it the wedding coordinator? Is it possible to get a copy of the English translation and have one of our relatives read it instead? Â PS: For those of you who are going to PPC for 2011, golf is NOT inclusive anymore beginning Monday Jan 3rd. Since we booked in 2010, my travel agent has received exception for us. Make sure to clarify this because green frees are not cheap, especially if you have guests going multiple times during their stay!

I'd doing aqua (a bit darker and bluer) and chocolate brown. I'm still deciding between accent colors though - yellow or orange...although we will probably go more with the latter.

I have not been to any of those resorts but I would recommend Dreams Palm Beach. I'm not a fan of the decor at RIU resorts, Barcelo is okay but I think around the same price for a 4-4.5 star resort and PPC (I'm booked there) is very frustrating to work with and really expensive because they seem to nickle and dime you more than other resorts and make a lot of changes year to year (ex: alcohol incl in cocktail time one year, not in another year. same with unlimited golf 2010, no golf 2011. that's a big difference in $$ value....hundreds!!) My final 4 were Majestic Elegance, Excellence Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach, and PPC. Dreams was the smallest of all but honestly now I feel I should have gone with them. The decor looks beautiful and smaller doesn't mean not as good - I think it would have a more intimate feel than a megaresort and apparently the food is great. Their wedding packages are much cheaper than PPC, too.

Hey ladies, I am going absolutely bonkers! I can't seem to get a definitive answer regarding whether golf is included or not with the PPC. I have gone through various trip catalogues and called various tour operators and most indicate that golf green fees is actually included at the Cocotal resort nearby. The only stipulation is you have to rent a cart each time. Some indicate it is included for all room types, some say only for Reserve and Royal Service. Some say unlimited golf, some say one round per stay. However, general consensus was that golf is included in some way or another. I just received an e-mail from my travel agent that as of January 2011 PPC says golf is not included at all. !@#$!! One of the main reasons we chose the PPC was because of golf inclusive. So two questions 1) those who have been to PPC, was golf included and if so, are you aware of what stipulations there was on it? 2) those who are going in 2011, are you aware of whether or not golf is incl for your package? ^ I, too am undecided if I should go with the Aqua or Chillout package -or- go with the free/smaller package and just do everything else a la carte. Hard to say how much you actually save with all their nickle and diming. Their pricing is so confusing! I do have a feeling I might just stick with either Aqua or Chillout just so I don't have to stress about adding everything myself. As for the colors, I thought you could choose whatever colors you wanted for Aqua and Chillout...the main difference is the setup of the reception tables and the type of food you get? Someone correct me if wrong.

I'm going to bring everything with me. The cost and logistics of shipping are too scary for me! I don't want to spend a couple hundred getting everything down there (Canadian shipping is expensive) only to discover it was lost or misplaced. The only problem with the latter is...I'd prefer to have them read for guests upon arrival...

Hey ladies, I may be tackling some passport invitations and wanted to ask regarding printing. I want to do a chocolate brown or aqua colored paper (metallic cardstock) for the cover. I had a few ideas such as: aqua font on brown cardstock, silver or gold font on aqua cardstock. Either way, I am concerned about printing a lighter colored font over a darker paper. Has anyone done this? If so, did you do it at home or professionally? Did it turn out okay?

I think there is a market for destination wedding coordinators, certainly. However, I think it works better when the travel agent and non-resort WC are one and the same. For example, in Toronto we have one called Luxe Destination Weddings. Their packages are not cheap. I believe it ranges from one to several thousand on top of the actual travel expenses, at resort wedding packages! However, I have heard mixed reviews on them and I think one of the reasons is that the bride IS paying extra for that WC service and 100% if not 110% perfection and ease. Personally, if I know it will cost me $1000-2000 for english WC services, it would actually make me feel better about the bad service at some of the resorts. Because I would feel like, despite the inconvenience, I am saving $1-2K. However, if circumstances are different - I was making a lot more, I was working a lot more....I would employee an English WC.

We already reserved the PPC before we realized just how bad they are with communication, how much they nickle and dime you, and most recently, that my FI's relatives have invited themselves (we had a count at 30 prior to this, too)...*sigh* I only looked at 5 star resorts and the final 4 were Paradisus Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach, Majestic Elegance, and Excellence Punta Cana.
