  1. I tried doing a search for "best beaches" but since so many of the hotels on this forum have "beach" in the name, it didn't work. Hope this thread hasn't been started already. For those of you who have traveled to several different beaches or resorts in Mexico, the Caribbeans, or Central American....which beach or beaches were your favorites? What did you like about them?
  2. ^ Yep, I'm on there! That's where I found your link... Well, actually, my now fiance did.
  3. Jeremy, I love your work! The colors, especially in your beach shots, are great!
  4. Thanks for the review debbmach! Cindy*, I just pm'd you for the e-mail.
  5. Thank you SOO much for posting the reviews for Secrets Maroma and Silversands, they were extremely helpful! I have a long list of resorts to go through and your overviews helped take Silversands off the list and put this one to the top.
  6. That is so sweet!! It's so nice when the in-laws are people you like and that like you!
  7. Did you find it helpful at all? I wanted to go but it seems too far in advance from my own wedding and I didn't know if it would have much to offer for DW brides.
  8. Thanks for posting this question! I have been wondering the same thing. Right now I take it off when I do dishes, put on lotion, and shower. Just not for rinsing my hands. Problem is, I keep forgetting to put it back on until I'm already out of the house. Mine was a bit loose so I brought it back to the jeweler's. It was around 6.5 and they're going to size it down to 5.75. I think maybe having a ring that fits just right will help you remember to put it back on? I found that because it was loose, I wouldn't really realize it wasn't there anymore.
  9. ^ Hey Mel, thanks so much for the info! I'd originally been thinking over the May 24 weekend since it's a cdn holiday and that would be one less day off from work for everyone but that's definitely something I'll have to take into consideration!
  10. I love Dollarama! I always find so much good stuff there. Recently they've raised their prices...many things are now $1.25-2.00 instead of $1 but still, a lot of the items are still a better deal than buying from say, Zellers or Wal-Mart where they would be like $3-4 each. Make sure you also check out the hair and makeup section! I think especially for destination weddings, hair clips and elastics would be useful for the female guests. You can usually find 3-4 clips or 20-30 elastics in a pack. Also, nail files!
  11. So sorry to hear about the disappointing experience you girls had! Especially with something as intimate as a boudoir session, a personable photog is almost as important as a talented one.

My wedding is almost a year and a half away. I'm not sending out STDs until sometime late spring/summer BUT this leisurely planning I'm doing right now is a LOT of fun without the stress and I figure, by the time I actually need to get working on things, I'll be half done already.

  14. Welcome Sasha! I've only been here for a few days myself but I love seeing other Toronto brides join! My fiance and I are also looking into Punta Cana...but also Mayan Riveria or Cabo. Good luck with your planning!
  15. Scubadiva your ring is stunning! The pattern on the band is so unique. I love it. I'm posting mine because I just took it back to Birks for resizing and won't have it back for 3-5 weeks!!

Actually, according to the website October is the best bang for your buck because while it's considered within hurricane season, it is actually at the end of it. I wouldn't consider it bang for your buck if hurricane risk is at its highest. That would just be getting what you paid for.

Hey ives, lemme know if you do find a Toronto travel agent that's good for DWs. I'm in Toronto, too and looking. This article talks about best time to visit DR and that October is the "best bang for your buck" Take a look! 18. We dated for just under 4.5 years before getting engaged. 2 of those years "officially" living together but prior to that, we were practically living together at either of our places.
  19. ^ To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I found a local photog quoting me about $5K if my wedding is in Mexico area and another at $3200 + all travel expenses (which I calculate to be approx $3K). I was only looking to spend around $3K but now it looks like I may need to up the budget to $4K. I don't think I can afford to go higher than that, tho...

Hey taranyc, do you have a ballpark what his price were like? I absolutely LOVE this work but I don't want to bother him with a long e-mail if he's out of my range.
  21. Nice! I like the darken, saturated tone of your work. Funny enough, I've visited your site before signing up for this forum.
  22. Great wedding review! I love the bridesmaid gifts....lucky girls!

We only recently got engaged so we're very early into our planning, but I'm anxious to nail down a date and place. Wish us luck!! By the way, are there any other grooms on this site? It seems like only brides are interested in researching their weddings on here Doesn't matter to me either way, just curious.. Cheers! Hey Zoli! Glad to see a groom here. My fiance registered at TheKnot.com but you one upped him by actually posting on a forum. Lol! My fiance and I were very recently engaged, too but I am also looking already despite a spring 2011 wedding. I'm looking at the Dominican (Punta Cana) and Mayan Rivera now. Any thoughts on a place for you, yet?
  24. Tammy, thank you so much for doing this! I have registered. Can't wait!

Hey lp579...I'm considering Punta Cana and $1500 is the price range I'm looking at, too for the guests. Was $1500 flight included from Vancouver? Which resort did you go with? Was it 4 nights or 7 nights? Sorry for all the questions!
