We're planning to do it ahead of time, probably later this year to benefit on our taxes. My FI didn't think it through, and basically told everyone that we planned to get married ahead of time. I didn't mind so much, until he asked his friend and wife to witness the legal ceremony here since they won't be able to join us down south.....she replied with a "well the legal ceremony is the most important part anyways." I wasn't happy, since the legal ceremony is just a formality to me. *sigh*

Hi Fsuambs, At first we were just going by some of the resorts our TA had already planned weddings for, the Grand Princess Riviera, Gran Porto Real, RIU, Barcelo. All of these were pricing well over the $1500/person we were hoping to get! She's now requesting for some more.....although I fully expect these to come back high as well. This has been a really difficult choice. I really didn't think it would be that hard, but when you're basically choosing a vacation for your guests as well it's much more difficult. Which resort did you end up choosing?? After doing so much research I kind of have my heart set on one of the Dreams resorts! lol

Our TA was able to request some prices for Feb 2011, but we have yet to narrow down which resort. At the moment the pricing is coming up high. We've decided we just have to choose a resort, and hope the pricing will drop. In the end the people that want to be there, will spend the extra bit to be there! I didn't realize it would be this hard to plan this far in advance!

I used the word labels format as I started gathering my addresses and bought the clear labels....just printed them out this past weekend and they look great! I'm so glad i went this route b/c my writing is horrible on envelopes! I look forward to using the labels again come Christmas! Good luck! it's not difficult to use at all!

Hi Ladies! Our original time line was aiming for oct/nov of this year, but had so many family members complaining that they wanted to come but couldn't then. I settled for Feb.....although today I just found out my best friend is having her wedding just a couple weeks before mine, and now I'm not sure we're going to be able to go. We're still waiting to hear back from our TA with some pricing so we can finally decide on a resort! At this point I'd settle for anything just to have it decided!

we're going with a travel agent! I was finding it too stressful to do all the research myself, when the agents have more knowledge about these resorts! Makes this whole time a lot less stressful!

I'm in the same boat.....we're still trying to decide on a resort, but want to get the word out asap so that those who want to come have some time to save up. My save the dates are going in the mail this week.....we've just put the date as Feb 2011 and location as Mayan Riviera.....and have a website up and running for people to check with once we get more info. I'm happy with that, since I want to get these out rather than wait for a date! Good luck!
