  2. Assault on Precinct 13= Gabriel Byrne

  4. Just wanted to share that I received my wedding dress last night (bought off oncewed.com)....my sis-in-law is coming over hopefully tonight and we'll try to take some pics, although the dress is quite a bit too bit at the moment! I'm going to wait till the end of the year to get it altered!
  5. OK ladies, I've spent the last couple days reading through this post, and I'm very excited to start this! my Fi downloaded it for me, and my sis-in-law is going to bring me some handweights tonight! I probably won't start until Monday as some friends are throwing us an engagement party on Saturday and I know I'll be nursing a hangover on Sunday! I don't need to lose much weight but am definitely wanting to start toning up....the wedding is 8 months away, but we've got a vacation book 4 months from now! Thanks so much for all the inspiration! I'll keep you posted!
  6. Here people normally send out a card that has a spot to check if you are coming, or a spot to check if you have to say no. It's all done on one card. I thought it was really sweet that my aunt sent a card that was specfically a "regret" card!

I had to call my mum the other day b/c one of my aunts in England sent me a 'Wedding Regret' card! I'd never seen such a thing before! Even though it was a regret, I still thought it was super cute and felt inclined to send her a card to thank her for her card! lol my mum told me not to! I love that you are making your own! so thoughtful and personal!
  8. I don't think 2 weeks is too long at all! We originally wanted to stay for 10 days- 2 weeks so that we at least had some time to ourselves.....plus with so much to see outside of the resort, I thought 1 week was not enough to see it all, plus have a wedding. We unfortunately can't stay for more than a week (FI won't have the vacation time), but I think if you can do it! like you said even if you do get bored, you'll be in paradise!

So maybe it's more of a $$ thing than anything... lol this sort of thing started happening to me after we finally set a date, and i really started looking at the decorations....I've told the FI to keep me under control. That I've said I want it very basic b/c we don't want to be carting a lot of stuff down with us...and he's to make sure I keep it basic! It's very easy to run with the ideas that's for sure!

We actually sent out Save the Dates back in Feb. We hadn't even reserved a wedding date at the time, we just put the date as Feb 2011, location Mayan Riviera. We hadn't even settled on a resort then, we just wanted to get the word out as soon as possible. We've also set up a website which I updated whenever anything new pops up, like actually setting a date, or getting pricing. As of right now, we've told people they are on their own for booking (unless we should get a really great deal with a group rate!), but to just let us know by Christmas if they plan to come but are waiting till the last minute to book. We've seriously gone back and forth over the pros and cons of using a TA.....unless we get a wicked deal, I personally think we're best to all book ourselves. Oh thing I forgot to mention above with the quote, the TA said that we can only take advantage of one price drop, so if you're going to do that you want to make sure its a good one (so it's pretty much a gamble!). I thought it was interesting that she talked about taking advantage of a price drop, but then went on to say that if we didn't take this deal it was going to go up by $800. I have a girlfriend who did a DW last year, and she's been super helpful with any questions or concerns I may have. She told me that they ended up just having people book themselves but kept everyone aware of prices as she found the best deals! She said most people waited until a month or 2 before the wedding, and even had one person turn up the day before b/c they were able to get a last minute deal!
  11. So we received another quote from the TA today, $1800 including taxes....we'd have to have 10 people locked in the next week, and then the offer gets extended to everyone else but they have to be locked in by Aug 15. She tells us if we wait the price is going to go up by $800/person....I'm still not convinced that a group rate is the way to go.
  12. Congrats! You've chosen a gorgeous resort! Good luck with the planning....you'll find lots of useful information on here!
  13. My input is the same as everyone else! I didn't think about the setting at all, just what looked best on me, and that is Ivory......either is going to look great in the setting, just make sure its what looks best on you!
  14. Vince Vaughn = Four Christmases
  15. Michelle Rodriguez = Resident Evil
