    This isnt someone's house tho...they rent it out for parties and special events. The reason I didnt use my friends house was you need to get a one day insurance policy (god forbid something were to happen, I didnt want their insurance involved) and bathroom rentals. All that was more than my deposit for the house, which includes all that!! Let me know if you want their info...but its in Lemont, not the city.

    I was looking for something casual like a friends backyard also. But I found a mansion in Lemont that rents out their grounds for only $500. For 150 ppl, Im doing all my rentals, food and bar for under $10,000.

    We are looking to just use our ipod for the wedding and cocktail hour...Anyone have ideas about hooking up my ipod to a karaoke machine that has a microphone? Has anyone else used their ipod with a microphone without renting speakers? I just cant see spending more $$$$$ =)

    Im only inviting friends and my parents to Mexico because: 1. Thats the only people I really want there 2. Im pretty sure other family cannot afford to and if I invite 1 I have to invite everyone 3. We already have 70ppl invited and I was trying to keep it as small as possible So, If I have a shower, is it in bad taste to invite everyone? Keep in mind we are hosting a full reception once we get back so everyone is invited to that!

    Our AHR is 4 weeks from when we get home. We're inviting everyone who couldnt make it to Mexico. We are keeping it very casual, buffet/full bar/dancing but no arranged seating. Our hope was just to have people do what they want (like an upscale cocktail hour). But my question is how do we still have our entrance/first dance....Any ideas how to make this all work??

    Im not having a reception. I too feel that since its an AI, the food and drinks are paid for! Im having a reception back home, so if I weren't doing that, than I would pay for my guests to have something after the ceremony. If you get married on a friday (like me) my resort has a beach party every fri. So, thats what we're going to do after the ceremony! Works out perfectly!

    Ok! I have gone back and forth also! I feel since its an AI, the dinner is already included, why spend another $1000?? Our wedding is on a Friday and they offer a beach party every Friday...so thats what we're going to do! But, we are having a reception back home...

    We will already be legally married and having a civil ceremony on the beach. What is actually said? I have read everyone's ideas for vows and I still want to say some of those things. Do we still exchange rings and everyhting that goes with it??
