  1. Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions. My FI has confirmed that his BM will not be proposing before the wedding but the day after. He and the Mrs to be will have another 3 days to celebrate their engagement in Mexico. I think that is fair. I will keep you all posted; exactly 2 months today we will be flying out!
  2. wow, sensational! it fits you perfectly. I bet you barely have to get much done ion the way of alterations.
  3. Thanks Kat, yes I am trying to figure the cost and compare it to what the resort's photographer would charge but it is a bit difficult because of the different packages the resort has. We want an hr video as well and I don't think Nate does that. Plus we have not to pay 500 for an external vendor fee too even though we actually started the booking of our wedding and signing of the contract back in Dec 2009. We confirmed this with Rebeca our WC. BTW your pics are beautiful.
  4. Did Nate change his name or his now goes by Nate Broshot as a professional name?
  5. this is exactly the style and look of my dress that I am getting made. oh...it is more than gorgeous, it's the epitome of elegance and delicacy and you.... ,make that dress come to life. you will definitely not have a problem selling it.
  6. At this point I think what I will be doing is handing out our bags at our bon fire welcome party. I will have the bags labeled with the guest's name and I can personally give them to each person. This way I know that they have received them in good order and to the right person.
  7. This is the first I have heard of giving a gift to the FI. I don't know if it is more of an American thing or I am just not aware of the idea. I know my guy does not expect anything nor do I. We are so excited to be able to go on a holiday and celebrate our love and commitment to each other, that is our gift to each other. Maybe I have been living in a cave for real? I always did say that I like hiding out in my cave.
  8. Our resort offers steam pressing the wedding dress. It is part of our purchased wedding package. I can't believe with the popularity of destination weddings resorts would not have that service available? I would suggest checking with the resort before you head down so you don't have to bother with purchasing one that you may never use again, hopefully
  9. check out the PV thread you can probably get most of your questions answered.
  10. the renos were done a few years back. I don' t know of any renos currently underway. I have been in contact with our WC at Dreams and she did not mention anything about renos. Â Gowiththeflow- I can say that i am thinking along the same lines with timing of the ceremony etc. We want to have our pictures done when the sun is setting so that means a 5 pm ceremony time. We are getting the latin band to do the cocktail hour and we are getting the dj for our dance time. The DJ will have his equipment and it is part of the cost of getting him for so many hours. I think the dj is 250 per hour or close to 600 for 3 hrs. I have not heard what the extra hour for service is after the 4 hr total. let's keep in touch.
  11. Hi 2011 brides to be. I am getting married in Nov 2010 and have Rebeca as my WC. We are getting married at the Gazebo with reception at Las Palmas. I have attached the wedding booklet that has the a la carte price breakdown for bouquets, linen, dj (you can use his microphone etc..) . I am sure you will find many answers to your questions you have or would have had. Oh, and menu options are also in the document. You can mix and match things so I don't know why they even have the options. Just does not make sense to me. Â you may want to make sure nothing has been changed so ask Rebeca for a copy just to make sure prices and things are correct. Oh, BTW, we just learned there is a 4 hr service cap that is not noted in the document. What that means is, they will only provide your guests with drink service for 4 hrs. We are waiting on a reply on how much more it is for another hr of service. I know the party needs to shut down at 10:30. drepv-wedding-guide-1.pdf
  12. We are having the bon fire as our welcome event for our guests. We just arranged this through the resort's wedding planner (we are using her for our entire wedding as appose to DD since she comes with our pkg). She will organize everything we just need to make sure we show up. The cost for the bon fire includes marshmellows, cookies, chocolate, sticks for bbq mellows, chairs and drink service. Our rehersal dinner (only about 8 of us) will take place at one of the restaurants. It is just as if we all decided to go for dinner. You can't make reservations at any of the resort restaurants. I think in this case it is not a greatest thing but it beats having to make rezo for each night you want to go for dinner like many other resorts have you do. I hope this helps. jenn

  14. I love the necklace ! great find. who is the seller on etsy I want to check out what other things she has.
  15. Sorry to have to bring this up but I am curious if any of the brides to be? Allyson779 or Gowiththeflow know about the service cap of 4 hours. Did Rebeca mention this to you? Â
  16. vgirl17, those look fantastic! where did you pick up the pink LED lights? I would be interested in turqoise colored ones.
  17. Angela...what beautiful pictures! I was able to view them on FB. I love FB for this great feature. Thank you for sharing your special day with all of us. Love your hair. Do you have some close up/inspiration pic of your hair do? I am gonna read your review. I am getting married at the Dreams PV.I am interested how much they charged you for your lanterns or was that a DIY project?
  18. Hey PrincessJ i just pm'd you and now i see that you have already posted pic via photobucket. I read you post on the Vancouver Brides so hence the delay in being in the loop. Don't bother sending me photos. I can take a look at these ones here. Thanks
  19. You did such a great job in planning and you looked so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
  20. i like number 1 on you and you can jazz the look up with nice jewels..necklace, earrings. You have to factor in how comfy it is and weight of it etc...esp. with a destination wedding. Let us know what you choose. I am sure all of us are curious.Go with your heart.
  21. My sister in law to be wanted to throw me a shower. I had it 2 weekends ago and it was nice and low key. In my case many of my closest friends can not come to my wedding in Mexico so were all so interested in attending the shower. Besides my mom, mother and sister in law to be , my sis and 2 gfs, all the other 20 girls who came to my shower are not coming down. I too have been living with my FI in our home and we have everything we need... well except spa gift certificates, baking pans and a new handmixer, wine from the Okanagan wineries lol. We did not have the cheesy games that usually take place at a shower.I was just happy to have all my friends and family there together. Many of my friends from back home came over to where I live (on an island) and they have never met my friends here on the island so that was so nice. Â I kinda think it is all dependent on the circumstances. If you really don't want one and you don't want to put your friends in an awkward position then just have the stagette instead. Â
  22. Past Brides...we were just told by Rebecca that with our package-Love, (2nd one), we are only going to have 4 hours of drink service. After that it would be extra or else our guest would have to go to the bar to get their own drinks. Eg have our service at 4 till 4:30, then service would be from 4:30 -8:30 after that????Lauren, Autumn did you have a problem with this?
