  2. haha thanks v! So I had my first wedding nightmare last night.. I had a dream we were in mexico day of the wedding, I was in my wedding dress all ready. All of a sudden I remembered I never had the initial meeting with Ael when I got there, so our wedding was canceled. So sammysgirl, don't forget your meeting

  6. That does suck of AA... I am flying with suncountry so hopefully they are better! :)have fun at your AHR.
  7. Vlvetter- Your dress is gorgeous! And you do pay extra to rent out the whole disco. I just looked up the info that was given to me and it says: RIU Yucatan Disco w/DJ (advanced reservation) 1350 usd.... However, with the way prices are I'd expect that to go up Congrats Nicola that's exciting ! No worries Jannae! I am approaching our final practicals and exam at the end of this week and beginning of next week. So I forgot myself, lol!

  9. I totally know what you mean about needing to figure out how not to sleep and my wedding is still 7 1/2 months away. What are you going to school for?
  10. Did plyos for one of my school classes today, so got in a little extra workout. Me and FI are suppose to run 5miles this afternoon. Now that I have said it aloud, I will have to keep to the word so I can post again later
  11. Dianep- thats exciting your wedding is soo close! All ready to go? Tara- congrats. Any good tips for us brides to be
  12. I will definitely keep you posted vlvetter 7! Sammysgirl- I see you have 20 guests; what are you doing for your reception?

  14. Did P90X core synergistics today Proud of myself because I was sore after a softball tournament I played in yesterday (I haven't played since 5th grade, needless to say I used muscles I hadn't used in ages)
  15. I did the exact same thing... Found this dress online, fell in love, read that it was discontinued, but that found it in a bridal store and was ecstatic. My girls ordered theirs a couple of Sundays ago... No free shoes though!
  16. I will keep my fingers crossed too Quote: Originally Posted by vlvetter7 Sammysgirl (or anyone else that may know) - if you have a semi-private reception is there any way to have the DJ and dancing? So excited for you that your day is so close!!! I believe the only way to have the DJ with a semi-private reception is to rent out the disco tech (the disco tech in Jamaica at the Riu I stayed at was kinda of run-down, cheesy, and musty). I am thinking I will only have around 35, so I am trying to figure out alternatives. People are going to be booking in the next month or so, so once I get a better count I might begin bugging Ael about this.

Precious.... and I feel you about freaking out, as you will see below I'm sure you have everything in order. Just enjoy this time--- BTW- I'll need someone to tell me that when I'm 3 weeks away too OH centerpieces..... I had a whole setup planned out: Except I was going to place the curved vases into a circle with a candle in the middle...... THEN I realized I would be carrying down 24 glass vases down with me. They would fill an entire suitcase! So we decided to take the big vases back, and will be putting out the flowers from the ceremony with some extras (we're bringing the votives from the pics, and scatter jewels)---should be perfect. Ok, I know I am crazy with this one. I didn't want chair sashes to begin with, but when I realized we couldn't afford a huppah, decided to add color. So I bought these ones: I love the color, it's perfect- but I just saw a pic of a beach wedding with satin sashes (loved them!), and I bought organza. Now I am rethinking my decision..... I can totally sell these sashes on here (or elsewhere) they're really pretty- but I want to get your opinion on satin vs. organza? I know this seems so trivial, but for some reason I cannot make up my mind- it's not like me! For goodness sakes- I purchased the 2ND DRESS I had ever tried on!! Thanks, I love my BM dresses too. I think they are absolutely perfect a destination wedding... About the sashes, I really like the ones you have and I think they will add a great color to the ceremony. However, I know what you mean, I feel like I have mainly seen the satin sashes in beach weddings. THey are just a little bolder; have you seen any pictures of brides who chose the organza for their beach wedding?

The idea is that you confirm your wedding/date/time with a credit card gurantee not a charge and then everything else is planned, confirmed and paid for on-site. It sounds like they changed vendors for some services and therefore some pricing has changed for flowers and musicians. When booking additional wedding items/services at Riu resorts prior to arrival I usually just send an email that says something like I would like to confirm the beach cocktail reception at a rate of $15.00 per person for the date of.... and the DJ from 8pm-10pm at a rate of $150.00 per hour. Then the WC writes back confirmed next to each item. I tell the brides to hang on to those email because that's all they have, no contract! However, if they just ask for a price and then don't go to confirm they would like to book that option then really as harsh as it seems the price is subject to change as is availability (another birde could book the reception spot you want) just as if you went to look at a house you wanted to buy or a trip you wanted to book and got prices. Then months later went to buy/book the price is subject to change. Because they do not charge deposits there really is no reason not to email and ask to confirm such options because if you need to cancel them later you will not be losing any deposit money. There really is no need to wait to have an exact head count. I would suggest just book your decor using the florist with the lowest price and send those quotes you got direct from the florist to the WC. Then see where you can get with hotel management on the musician pricing. Hopefully they come through for you. The resort the OP is discussing is Club Hotel Riu Negril. This increase has not happened at all Rius. However, my suggestions above do apply to all Rius. If you want something send an email to your WC requesting the price then reply right back that you would like to book x at y price for thus and so dates, please confirm. Thanks this is great information!
