  1. We are TOTALLY doing that! We plan to go get married at the local courthouse the week before and just fly on down and do the ceremony. We plan to say the "traditional" vows in the states and we are writing our own for the DR ceremony. We also will not exchange rings until the DR ceremony. Honestly, if you think back to weddings you have been to, you never see the bride and groom actually sign the documents with the officiant, that is usually done while the guests are headed to the reception. Nobody will know, or even care enough to ask! It is pretty easy if you think about it, plus everyone will be so caught up in the beauty and excitement of it all anyway
  2. I think I may offer the Outback Safari for Saturday as an option. I know a lot of our guests are already asking about things to do. Thanks!
  3. Just emailed them and asked if it was too early to book for next March. My thing with the TTD is ruining the dress! It looks like you got a separate one, but I don't want to purchase a THIRD dress for that! I already got a reception dress too. Is that dress you used totally ruined?
  4. I'm here, I'm here!!! March 2011 in DR! Most of the planning is done, which may be partially due to my type A personality, but I feel good about it. We will be mailing our save the dates next week. Guests have already sent in first deposits and we have 25 so far! All dresses are chosen, now I just wait and time is CREEPING along
  5. Jerz is correct, but also keep in mind residency requirements when choosing to do the "legal" part in DR I think it is 3 days. It is much less of a hassle to do a ceremony, and go down to the courthouse in your state for the formalities. Your guests don't have to know that's what you did either! Thats our plan Just food for thought!
  6. Looking to share ideas, and maybe supplies too
  7. We are going with thehoneymoon.com they actually do not charge CC fees. Our TA recommended it. Check them out when comparison shopping
  8. I will definitely try Wal Mart, even though on a daily basis I prefer Target
  9. Beautiful pics!!!! You inspired me to nominate a "non-professional photographer" from my family as well
  10. I too was planning to go the "wellness" route for my OOT bags (tylenol, hand sanitizer, pepto, etc) and we are packing them in our checked luggage. Just avoid the hassle of TSA
  11. I actually downloaded a FREE Spanish translation PDF that can be printed on nice paper and put in every bag. I think it has like 150 commonly used phrases on it. I found it at Fodor's Travel Guides - Plan Your Trip Online
  12. WOW YOU LOOK GORGEOUS!!!! I love the photos. Yes, the ceremony video (15 min) plus ceremony photos and one additional hour are included. I am thinking about doing the three hour package for $1,100. The trash the dress idea is growing on me though... How far in advance did you book them? I want to make sure they have my date open! I notice that they do require a deposit upon booking too Totally unrelated question, but did you bring your own centerpieces, or did they have the floating candles/vases there already?
  13. Thanks! I will check out that site and the prices I also saw some cool templates for DIY boarding pass invites, i just did a google search. I may do a test run to see how it will turn out though...
  14. @Dolce: I take it you paid for extra photo time. It looks like the package only allows for ceremony photos and one hour after. I am interested in getting ready shots, ceremony and some reception. Thoughts?
  15. I am aiming for gorgeous sunset photos. Any past March brides have approx sunset times? I checked the web and it said 6:49 on my date, but I signed up for a 5pm start just in case. Should I push it back a little.
  16. You ladies are too funny on this thread, Glenda has me ROFLMAO!!! But seriously, I did get a reception dress, simply because I get hot SUPER easily and I know the long dress thing will have me sweating like a pig with my nerves and all of the excitement! I just got a BM dress in ivory and called it a day. It was only $150 and my dress was SUPER cheap so I don't feel bad, AND I can live up to my Divaness with multiple outfits
  17. I have a reception dress. And I ordered a knee length bridesmaid dress in ivory! It was only $150 bucks and it will be more comfortable to dance around in. Plus, I like the idea of having two dresses. Hey its our day!!!
  18. I looked at Photosouv's website, and I'm impressed! I will definitely go with them and add on some pics. Which package did you add on? I know we get some photos free with the package, but I want getting ready shots, ceremony shots, and reception!
  19. WHOA, good point TRose!!! Any other mid March brides that can talk about weather!!
  20. I am a little sad now too, I want a monogram!!! Not at the attachment point level yet though
