  1. Wow, I've been back for over a week, and still didn't have any time to catch up. Way to busy with work, home reno, and just regular housework. I'll try to give out details and post pics in a few days, just a word to say it was fabulous. I've seen a few pics looking throught, very nice! And it's so bad for you Jodi, I mean a delayed trip is one thing, your delayed wedding, ouch! You seem pretty zen about this.
  2. Wow, everybody was very quiet today, what's happening? LOL I managed to do everything on my list, and everything is packed except the toothbrushes! I spend the whole morning at the mall, trying on stuff, because this morning I woke up to the thought that I hadn't bought any "special" outfit for the wedding night I found out a cute little slip in bright pink satin with a black lace border, I think that should do! I wanted white at first, but this one was so cute, and nothing wow in white. Also got undies for the dress, settled for turquoise, was shooting for light blue, but nothing to be found. Finally I bought 2 cute "decent" nighties, thought it would be nice to hang out on the balcony in the morning. The only problem I have is how will I get to sleep tonight, I'm full of energy. Have a great week girls, hope it will go fast for you and real SLOOOOW for me and Jenna!
  3. Well, I think being off work kept me even more busy! Spent the day running arounf driving FH, shopping and going to appointments. Love you dress Meghan, you look fabulous! The open corset back is great! And your "cup" at the bachelorette... UPDATE My friend actually booked today Now I'm stuck rushing to make a bag for her (luckily I ordered an extra bag!!!) She called me while I was shopping for it all, asking what I was doing... I told her, and she thought it was funny. I had to explain to her, I had a million other things I could be doing instead. I totally regret inviting her, but I did it out of courtesy, not thinking she'd actually show!!! OOPS!!!!!!! OMG, this is so crazy... At least you know she truly wanted to be there, but what a stress. Hope this is the last one! It is nice and sunny outside, and should get very hot. And it's my last day before leaving!!!
  4. Tracy, I really like the last one with small candles and shell, very caribbeany & beachy, with a nice little touch of color. Sorry I haven't gone through to see what's happening. I'll catch up when we get back. We leave early in the am, getting married on Sat... WOHOO!!!! Thank you ladies for all your help and your support, you girls rock! Yeah! Have a good day tomorrow! But don't kill him yet... I'm the packer as well, but at least he doesn't go back and check everything out, he just complains when I forgot something (which is not very often, Ah!)
  5. Well, I'm off work from now on! Hurray! I managed to leave before 5 and have all my ducks in a row, so I won't have to work extra tonight! Maybe I'll be able to follow this thread tomorrow, instead of coming to tons of post & pics... I have a few things left to do in the next 2 days: - shopping: sundresses again, nice underwear for the ceremony - buy more sunscreen - pick up prescription meds - buy some "fashion tape". Even with the added padding in my dress, it will be better if I tape the middle of the decolletage to my skin. - get some socks for FH, to wear at dinner with his shoes - buy 2-3 things for make-up - waxing tomorrow morning - haircut & colour appointment tomorrow for me! Nice relaxing afternoon. - spa afternoon Friday. My MIL gave me a package including 1.5h massage, mani, facial. What a good day to use this! - do most the packing tonight I think those 2 days will be quite busy, if you add the fact that I have to drop and pick-up FI to work both days, since we only have one car. Still very fun, and the weather is great, sunny and temps much higher than normal, almost like summer!

I emailed Landy for a refund (not holding my breath) and let them know they fraudulently sold me a dress. It's one thing for a dress to be too big but to have me pay for a higher quality and bank that I won’t know the difference? I was a professional ballerina so I am very familiar with chiffon qualities; polyester chiffon is heavier and rougher. I am over the stressing and after the alterations the dress will be fine. I had to move flowers around because they put this huge flower on my shoulder (think 80's big). In the pics the dress looks decent because I am holding the back tight so it doesn't sag. At that point I just had to deal with it and not make a big thing of it. I will let you know what Landy says, I wonder if they changed management because everything from them was quite good several months ago. Bottom line is its fine it will work. Lucy did get back to me right now and asked for pictures. Will see what she says. And they made the dress to my measurements...wonders who's measurements were those? Oh well I got it into alterations everything will be fine. I also had to ask the status of my dress after 30 days and they were like when do you need it? I told them within the 30 days but I have a feeling they had forgotten about my dress. I think your dress look fabulous! But you only can judge the material they used, I would probably wouldn't see a difference because I only buy cheap clothes! LOL Had the same problem with Landy about sizing however, they told me it was made to my measures... I was not professionally measured (DBF did it), but really, there was no 25" waist on my dress... It was at least 2 inches off I'd say (and I had DBF re-measure me too). Was disappointed I had to spend more, I mean the dress was not as cheap as others (300$ with shipping), so adding another 100$ for alteration seemed bad. They didn't give me any money back, hope you have more luck. I still like the dress, and now that it was resized and padded at the bust, it is very pretty. The beading is not as sparkly as the original - but I dont actually think thats a bad thing! I was a little concerned that my dress choice was a little too bling for a casual beach wedding... Anyway - so here is the bit you have all been waiting for - the pictures!! Now keep in mind that I am on my own, its 11pm at night, the lighting in the spare room (or wedding room as we now call it!) is shocking and I'm taking pics on my blackberry - without the flash so that I can see the reflection in the mirron - but I thought I better get some photos to you lovely ladies... Thanks for all your support and kind words xx The dress seem to fit great! And I love the style.

This is to give me more coverage over the 2nd/3rd degree burns I have on my chest. Your dress look great, it's nice when it's fitting properly, it makes such a big difference in look. And the bustle is quite special. I am totally in love with your rings, quite spectacular. They "fit" together without being too matchy, and both of you have something that you love There is something to be said about custom rings. That crap so gets on my nerves. 2 days to go! All wedding stuff is packed, need to pack our clothes tonight. Here's the list of things that I need to get done: 1. Call TA to find out how our arranged travel in Mexico works. 2. Pick up rx at pharmacy (need to fax copy of marriage license to FI new work first) 3. Determine cost of long term parking at airport 4. Some how get all my stuff together at work so I'm prepared to leave. 5. Bring the dog to fmil house to stay 6. Pick up wedding band on Wednesday 7. Already scheduled mani/pedi on Wednesday, can't forget to go! 8. Exchange shoes for FI for a larger size (I bought him Sperry's and they're too small) 9. Buy bateries for camera 10. Return 1 item to Kohls that didn't fit, and another pair of flip flops that didn't fit FI 11. Get all my receipts together in my wedding folder. hmm... I guess that's all... I thougt I had a lot more to do than just that. Good to know I can relax a bit! 2 days, wow! And your todo list is already pretty small. Relax, and have a nice mani/pedi tomorrow. We realized today that our numbers are very much the same which is so cool!! here goes: our legal day was today, 3/30, his birth day was today, 3/30, he turned 30 today, the year is '10, today was our 10 year anniversary, and my bday is 10/3, and ill be 30 on my bday this year!!! very cool!! we should play the lotto lol Congratulations! Nice to see they made a little something special for you, with the practice cake and all. And with those dates, you will have many reasons to celebrate both of your wedding days. jerseykitten: great shower spa pics, I'd probably would have been very red as well... At least the moms didn't comment too much, those can be even more embarassing!

So finally I lied and said that my wedding coordinator gave me a dead line for the confirmation numbers she wanted (Also she's called a bunch of other times, ask me my opinion on other hotels!!! I told her finally that I don't have time to look into other resorts, I've reviewed mine and that's all, if she wants to stay somewhere else, she can but I don't know anything and don't ask me, it's not like our resort is booked) (I didn't lie about the cofirmation # needed, just never got a deadline) and that if she wants to come to the wedding, I needed her # today... then she says she hasn't gotten her schedule for that work, so she needs to wait until Wednesday. I told her it was very nice to try and come, but that she ran out of time. To be honest.... who has time to deal with people like that (good friend or not) 14 days before your wedding!!! Sorry for the vent! Good note, OOT bags are all done. here a pic... Wow,your friend is so strange, I mean, up to a certain point you can understand she's making her mind up, worried about prices maybe, but come on! 14 days before and she doesn't know if she can have the vacation time? I have to "prepare" my vacation longer than that (OK, a bit of exaggeration here...) If she doesn't want to come (no time off, money, ...) she could just have said so, or even make a white lie. You definitely don't need this added stress. BTW, the OOT bag content is again very nice, great ideas, and you did dive in for the labels. The personalized Spanish for Dummies is great.

Nice that you have the day off- it'll be so relaxing! I have to get FI to get on the phone tomorrow and book ours- I'm thinking the 23 of April (two days before we leave) hopefully at the courthouse. We need to get on that. Thanks! Yes, it is "one of a kind". Our jeweller had never done one like that, so it is unique. And your legal is not booked yet? Is not not something to be done in advance? I'd be so stressed... We don't have a Ross here... always see them on T.V but none here My goal, is to have all my summer clothes and some weddings things (cake cutting serve, garter) in my big luggage, and the rest of the wedding stuff goes to some of the guest and our carry-on. We waste more weight by adding extra luggages (I weight my big luggage, and alone with nothing in it weight 11.5lbs) I haven't finish packing yet, so I have no idea if I can pull this off. But also we are handing all the in town guest their OOT bags, or else we would never would have enough room. OMG, 5 days!!! you must be so excited, nervous at all? I am just nervous about everything but about marrying FI lol. Love you sand kit as well Tracy, very pretty! I'm like you, marrying him is not something to be nervous about, I've already chosen him! Rigth now work is much more stressing! The flowers are fabulous, nice colours, very "real". And your OOT bags are quite nice, hope everyone appreciate them. Tonight I have to work a bit (maybe 1-2 hours??), but I really feel I need to start on the luggage thing, and try my dress again to see if it still fits well. I really have no room in there, no corset back on mine!
  10. I posted pics of my real rings on the April brides: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ml#post1235316 I am in so in love with it. It is just a perfect size/fit for me, very practical in design with the bezel around the diamond so I won't be scared to catch the prongs on something, nice weight (got platinum). Can't wait to have it on "legally". (I'm cheating right now since I'm home alone...) FH seems real happy about his as well, very comfy, quite unique design. He got in a 18k white gold+palladium alloy, no plating. It is more metal grey than white, but with this type of alloy it should stay the same colour over the years. He didn't want to have to mess with regular re-plating. Sure ended up more costly, but those rings are our big ticket item, everything else was pretty cheap!
  11. What a cool idea a limo to the airport! It is your wedding after all. Still think we'll just take our car, I'll too stressed out about waiting to be picked up when I have a flight to take. What I've looked at in my case is a plane transfer between Montego Bay and the small Negril airport, but it would run us around 500$ round trip, to save 1-1.5h each way. A nice splurge, but I'm too cheapo for my own good I think! I'm getting stressed out with everything I have to do this week. Packing, still a bit of shopping (sundresses, no Target up here Jenna, closest one is south of the border!), cleaning up the house a bit, it is a mess, and work! As if I wasn't already swamped, I told my boss I would do some other things that are normally out of my scope. So in the next 3 days I have to prepare my vacation: give out priorities & task lists to my team, tackle my daily job, get the ball rolling on a few things, and work/supervise this special project!! I've spent a few hours yesterday on my work laptop, and I feel I should be working instead of posting right now... I'll deserve this vacation! On the positive side, we got our rings Thursday: my sparkly: side view to show little blue diamond: his band on my finger: cheesy side-by-side pic:
  12. Jenna, I'm happy that your jeweller will fix the ring for you in time for the wedding! I would have asked for it myself, even if I had to pay money, you will wear this for years to come, if not your whole life! I can cross out something else from my list, we got our rings tonight, and they are fabulous! I don't have time to take pics tonight, but surely tomorrow or Saturday. I also had time to shop a bit between work and my appointment, got 2 swimsuits and one for my FH. Hurray! (His was much harder to find, he's so picky on "suitable" colours...) I'll go back tomorrow for some little summer dresses to put on for dinners. Since I lost so much weight last year, my wardrobe is pretty screwed up.
  13. Quote: Originally Posted by hoyt75 Sorry the pics are so big. How do I make them smaller?? Obviously I don't have the dantiest, prettiest hands in the world. I had the wedding band custom made by the same guy the made my e-ring. He did a really good job, it's just not what I wanted I guess... It just looks far to wide (like top to bottom) than what I had really wanted. What do you ladies think, and be honest. You can't make me feel any worse! I can never keep up on this thread, too much traffic, and it seems nobody's working regular day hours! Soo much new stuff between the time I go to bed and I get back from work. I think the band is real pretty by itself, but understand how you could think it's a "man ring", since it's quite large, and that's more evident sitting next to your engagement ring. Sure hope they're able to something for you, but have no idea what! I'm happy that my jeweller makes sample of his work in silver first for review, testing and approval. We made quite a few little seemingly insignificant changes to ours after that!
  14. Very nice and sparkly as well! Love the blue accent on your FI band.
  15. Found those nice silver sandals with a small heel on sale. I will go barefoot for the beach ceremony, so it will mostly be for dinner. They are very comfy:
  16. Another one for custom here, it can be very inexpensive. I'll have only one ring, a platinum solitaire with little diamonds in the band, but it's custom made, and not costly compared to a store mount. A small plain band wouldn't have cost much. My DBF's band is more expensive (if you don't count my diamond), but it's very heavy and 18K white gold. Most mall stores make men's band in 10K, to keep cost similar to women's!

Nice idea the hair vines, those look pretty. I'll see if I can find something not too expensive on Etsy. I'm also going to my stylist next week before I leave for a color & cut, so I'll ask her if I can do something with that hair of mine! The IRS is making people file on paper if you have that credit vs electronic. I think maybe too many people tried to scam the government in past years. Ben called them and they said there is an issue with our return. We are using that money to pay for the wedding and now they are telling us we may not get it by then?! Are you kidding me? We are super stressed. They couldnt tell us over the phone what was wrong, only that we'll get a letter that we'll need to address as soon as it arrives. She couldnt even tell me when the letter would get there. I emailed my dad this morning asking him if he could temorarily lend us the $$ until whatever is wrong got straightened out and he is hesitant to lend us that much money. If you knew my dad you would understand why. He has been burned lending money to people etc. I've however never asked him for money in my adult life ever so I'm hoping he agrees. Best case scenario, the money comes just in time I dont need to borrow it anyways. UGH... Does anyone else know anyone who claimed this credit on their '09 taxes? If so, did everything process smoothly for them? I'm hoping they dont try to reject it because I'm a co-owner on the home. The law specifically says that if we are unmarried my half of the credit can transfer to the qualifying party that co owns the home so that person would get the full credit. UGH... Wow, that's real bad, hope you get the money before the wedding, you filed almost 2 months ago. At first I was wondering about the married thing, since it usually doesn't change anything, but realized you're across the border! Too many Canadians on this thread. Quite a mix-up since we also have a (much smaller) credit for home byers this year. I'm crossing my fingers for you! I'm thinking about doing a "getting to know you" kind of thing at the "rehearsal dinner" the night before the wedding since my friends and FI's friends don't know each other too much. Any thoughts? Tracy - those are really good! Everyone will love them! I wrote a speech months ago to kind of thank people and toast them -my best friends and parents and inlaws and of course FI - I'm not sure I can make it through it without crying - it may be one of those things I decide to do last minute - FI has no idea that I wrote it so it would be a nice surprise. Yeah, that's one thing that's not cheap in those all inclusive, the spa prices! They charge more than my trendy pricey stylist in Montreal! Same thing for massages, in my resort it's 55$ for a half-hour massage (we get 1/2h free for groom & bride, wanted to get a whole hour...), I pay that for an hour here. Tracy, loved your little speech and the funny things about your marvelous husband!
  18. My last big things are the rings, and they are coming along. Our guy does silver prototypes, to make sure we like the style, the fit, ... We've had them for 2 weeks now. Mine is pretty simple, the final product will have some very tiny diamonds in the band, and 2 special blue diamonds on each side of the bezel. The prototype does not show those. Also, I took the pics after we wore the rings for a week, so they are getting pretty scratched up: For my DBF, he did 2, a smaller one all polished, and a larger one with the bottom of the "waves" roughed up. Both very pretty, with a nice movement to them. It's very hard to capture the waves on the smaller one, but it's very pretty in real life. Since it fits my index, I wore it to work a few times and got a few nice comments: Since I had a good idea what I wanted, after a week I was ready to commit, so my real ring is almost done. He showed it to me on Thursday, he only has to put the centre stone in, it's so pretty. Since my DBF has decided what he prefers as well (the larger one, with some slight changes), he told us they should both be completed this Thursday, I can't wait! No, I can't wait to be able to wear them, how could I believe I didn't need a ring at all...
  19. Things are starting to wrap-up a bit for everyone it seems, dress fitting, OOT bags, ... A pink limo, pretty cool, wow! They must not rent those very often, who would be interested besides bachelorettes? I would love to ponder about a nice up-do, I would put some nice crystals in there. You girls will look amazing. Sadly, I have this amazing concave cut, very short in the back with nice lenght (2-3 inches below the chin) in front, that finally makes me look like a grown-up and get me good comments all the time. Which means the only thing I can really do is straighten it perfectly, can't even put a hair flower or something, my hair is very fine & silky, it will just slip down. I will be pretty anyhow!

I don't know yet if I want to tell my guests or keep it our little secret... Maybe I should turn this into a little quiz on our website. Haha Yeaj, it's pretty easy to "bar-code" any text you want (we bar-code lots of stuff at work), so it's real cool to have that special something! (Easy to decode as well if you have a bar-code reader to plug into your computer!)

So I thought I'd do half up half down... but then figured I may be way to hot with this one.............. so then I thought ,heck I'll just put it all up, and this is the one I only liked... but my issue is, I def don't want to wake up any earlier then I already have to, and def don't want to spend way to much time at the spa for my hair, so do you think this would take to much time to do? and will it hurt with all the freaking bobby pins?!?! Wow, well I def admire you girl, for doing all of those things in less then a year!!!! Must be very stressful. I wish I could say I'm really organized like you girls, I just have a word documents with a list, no sheet Good for you girls tho, And def normal, especially for brides lol. The second hairstyle shouldn't be that much longer to do, between 1-1.5h, depending on experience. I've had my hair done in this kind of style a few times. It did held nicely, the pins didn't hurt, only my hair roots, because they weren't used to being placed like that! I also have a round face, and one trick for updos is to just leave a small strand of hair loose around the face. It would be very sexy and elegant I think. But at the least he's very supportive of whatever I'm working on - as long as he can still watch tv and be supportive. I think guys are missing some sort of wedding gene to be honest! AND p.s. you girls were BUSY yesterday! There were at least THREE PAGES that I didn't write on a single time which is insane!!! I know I probably missed a couple things to comment on too... I agree, came back from work and wow, seems nobody was working! I did such a big MQ, but still skipped things! I think your FI is just like other men, if it were only their decision, they would just have a ceremony and a big regular party, no fussing with decor, favors, ...
  22. Just posted on your invites thread, I'm jealous! I would certainly have hated to plan a destination wedding with guests, but those special things like boarding pass, OOT bags, ... seems like they are so fun! Since they don't look bilingual, I guess you had 2 sets made, French & English? More work for the cousin. BTW, it was worth it to wait, it is very "pro" looking. Did you have custom stamps made like in your siggie to sent those out?

I think I'll start packing the weekend before we leave, and finish up the day before we go (I'm off work that day). I'm still trying to decide what to take as carry on and what to pack, also. Is anyone having their FI take his suit/wedding clothes as carry on? I think I'd like to do that- it would be bad if our luggage went missing or was delayed and he had nothing to wear. I'm super uber obsessive about not checking any "vital" items (in case my luggage goes missing) or electronics (because of theft) when I'm travelling. I don't know how I would deal with something important going missing. And since I'm styling my own hair, my own professional dryer is a must, the small hotel one won't cut it for my special day. I even put a small bottle of my usual shampoo & conditioner in my 3-1-1 bag, because I know how my har reacts to it (maybe a bit obsessive about my hair...) He actually made his 1st wedding band on his own (he took a jewlery class in college). We had looked at his gpa's band a while back, but it was so tiny it wouldn't even fit on my pinky, and b/c of the design we thought it would be very difficult to have it sized to fit him. The guy making my wedding band, also made my ering, said he could size the ring for me. Nobody knows about me giving him the ring except for his gma (obviously) and I just know that it'll mean the world to him. They were very close. I don't really know how we're going to work 2 wedding bands, but we'll figure it out! That's such a cool idea! Quote: Originally Posted by Melidell Hmmm... a packing list is a really good idea. I know it's all in one place but I am really paranoid about forgetting something important. I also need to make a shopping list of things to buy when we get to Halifax before the wedding (there is no where to shop up here, thank goodness for online shopping). I have so many wedding lists on the go right now it's insane! You are super normal girls! I also have different Excel list that I use on my travels: one for camping trips, one for beach vacay, one for plane, one for car trips. And very detailed lists down to little items: soap, socks, Tylenol, earrings, umbrella ... I have 2 columns, I check the first one when I pull out the item and know it is OK, and check the second when I pack it. I'm the queen of lists! Wow, at least she's OK, not fun dealing with that. My FIL's wife (DBF's parents are divorced) has lung cancer and was admitted at the hospital last week, she probably won't leave because she needs the pain medication... We'll see how it goes, just hope she'll be OK till we come back.
  24. Wow, some of you are super organized! I still have some shopping to do, mainly summer dresses (not a lot in stores right now), and bathing suits. I won't start on packing stuff till the week before, the house is already such a mess, don't want to add more... (I'm trying to finish a big renovation at the same time, just chose some tile over the week-end. We will only install it after the trip though). I'm allowed 2 * 44 pounds suitcases, but it should all fit in one, since we won't bring all the decor and OOT you are. Don't know how you can do it with only one, huge challenge! You should definitely take advantage of your family & guest and give them things to bring. My stress is with all the things I want to carry-on: wedding dress, our DSLR camera bag, a small duffel with "in-flight" items, and my little rolling 19" suitcase. Now I need to fit so much in there: hairdryer, flat iron, his wedding clothes & shoes, his electric shaver, my dress sandals, make-up, jewelry. I usually have our suits and one change of clothes+underwear in there, just in case, but I'm not sure it will fit. Big puzzle in perspective, and we'll have our hands full moving around at the airport.
