  1. My fiance and I had put down our deposit for our May 2011 at Blue Tulum Resort & Spa. We were so excited and ready to go - STDs printed, dress and shoes purchased, bridesmaids gowns purchased, deposit on photographer, etc. Then, we were checking in with our wedding planner and she emailed us back saying that she had "news" - turns out, The Blue Tulum was sold and is closing down for the year, opening next year as a hotel that is clothing-optional and caters only to gays/lesbians. They told us that we could have our wedding at The Great Parnassus in Cancun (they bought out the hotel and the management is handling all wedding transfers) or could get our deposit back. I definitely don't want to stick with this management and so we are starting our search all over again, but I am fighting against them to pay us back for the deposit, STDs and photographer. So upset! Literally, 6 months of planning is down the drain and we have to start from scratch. We have put so many time, money and energy into this already....
  2. Hi Everyone! I think my fiance and I are going to bring a photographer from home to Mexico with us for our wedding. Does anyone know if we need to secure permits for our photographer to shoot the wedding? Just want to make sure we square this away! If you have had a photographer travel with you to Mexico for your wedding, please let me know if you have had to do this and if so, what is the process? Thanks!

We liked that instead of choosing from a package, we could pick out our own flowers, menu, etc. We had planned to visit two more boutique resorts closer to Cancun, but after the great service and beautiful location, we chose Blue Tulum. The only drawback is its distance from the Cancun airport, so we are arranging group shuttles for our guests. We are getting married on April 24, 2010 and Angelina will probably offer you a discounted rate to do a site visit. My website is Ingrid Jones & James Hallar if you want to see photos of our visit. hi again! can i ask who you are using for your wedding photographer? the hotel recommended a few people, but i am curious who you are working with. thanks!
  4. Thank you! Indigo82 - are you doing a site visit? We are heading down in April for ours and I am curious to know if you had the chance to personally try out the food, meet with Angelina (she seems great!), stay in the rooms, etc. If so, I would love to hear your thoughts on how it went! Also, what made you choose this hotel over others that you were considering?
  5. Hi everyone! My fiance and I love the look of the Blue Tulum hotel, but have not found any reviews on the place. Has anyone had there wedding here, or does anyone plan to have their wedding here?? We are in discussions with WC and will be planning a site visit, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the hotel! Thanks

Denise lied to me big time and her actions almost caused me to move my wedding elsewhere. After the problem (which was basically all Denise's fault) was discovered, I talked to other staff at Ceiba, and they have been incredible in working with me to make up for all of Denise's mistakes. Despite the problem with Denise, I would still recommend Ceiba and encourage you to look into it. It is supposed to be an incredible resort (i have not been there yet myself, but I have spoken to other Ceiba brides and my mom did a site visit for me) and everyone other than Denise has been great to work with. I wil lhave more information after my wedding in February. If you have more questions or want any more details, feel free to pm me. Again, Ceiba is great- just stay away from Denise. Oh my goodness!! What happened? That sounds terrible, and I am so sorry you had to go through that! Who is Diana? Do you have her email?
  7. hi shreets!! we are looking at may of 2011 - plenty of time, but i know it will go by quickly!! still considering all options including other areas of mexico to lessen the cost of travel, but i am seriously in love with the thought of a Playa Fiesta wedding!!
  8. hi! i am looking at this resort as well - did you ever find any information about it? i would love to see someone's review of their wedding at omni PA.

Realistically, why would anyone fly down for just two nights? I found that explaining why we are doing 4 nights helped guests realize that 4 nights isn't that much - so you may want to have a time line of event prepared beforehand. Good to know - Can I ask what package you ended up with? (How many minimum rooms/offset cost of food) And yes, you make a very good point - why fly down for a short amount of time?
  10. thanks everyone! you have been so helpful. were any of your guests upset about the 4 night minimum? i guess i am just nervous about forcing the 4 night rate on everyone, especially if they cannot commit to all 4 nights due to work/financial reasons. we are planning to invite 80 people and assume a 50% acceptance rate, so we would be on the cusp in terms of the minimum rooms to fill the contract....
  11. i am there with you! i am looking for a smaller resort in mexico to host our destination wedding - under 100 rooms. any suggestions??
  12. hi everyone! i am considering this hotel for my destination wedding - looks fantastic! if you have been married here, can you please share whether or not it was easy communicating with Denise? I emailed her over 24 hours ago for information and have not heard back. Also, what room rate discounts are they willing to give to guests? thanks!
  13. Hi Everyone! I am falling in love with Playa Fiesta by the day looking at all of the great reviews and pictures. Everything looks stunning, and it sounds like the staff are nothing short of amazing. My one concern is the cost. Sounds like some things can get awfully pricey - Do you think we can plan a 4 night celebration with a few additional dinners for under $20K at this hotel? And, did anyone find a good deal on flights for your guests? (Group rates, or was the hotel able to help secure rates for the guests? They will be traveling from New England and the tri-state area) Thanks!
  14. Hi Everyone, I am so excited to be planning my destination wedding!! Tim and I got engaged at the end of October and are just starting to plan for our dream day We have not settled on an exact location yet (there are so many options!) but are looking into a May 2011 wedding. Since we live in NYC and most of our friends are here as well, but our families are home in New England, we decided a destination wedding would be a perfect solution to the travel issue - well, that, and we just love the idea of a beautiful beach ceremony! We have just started looking, and are open to suggestions of all kinds. We are set on Mexico - the exact location is TBD. East coasters - Where did you marry? We love Puerto Vallarta, but are concerned that flights will be super pricey. Thanks! Kristine
