I agree. I hope to have no issues with Palace Resorts and it always seems as though they do the best that they can for their guests.

80 days till we get married legally in MD and then on the 12th were off to Cancun for our symbolic ceremony for the 15th. I have nothing done! I've been busy with so many other things, that my wedding planning has slid. The economy has been rough on our family and friends and it appears we will only have 4 guests attending our wedding, so I'm not going to do anything spectacular for the ceremony, we have to save that for the AHR.

Thanks for the great review! Your pictures are really beautiful. I noticed you used your reward dollars for optional services. I had asked the Miami WC about it and she said I could only use it on packages. I'm happy to see they allowed you to do that.

Don't let one bad bridal experience get you too worked up. One thing I learned from her experience is to be very persistent and don't let them get away with it. It's obvious the certified letter worked and she got her refund. Her deadline was Sept 29 and her issued was resolved before that.

Before I send an email I'm wondering if you have to use the $1500 on a package? Can you use it on optional services?

We were going to have a legal ceremony in Mexico, but decided against it when we found out they are keeping our certified birth certificates. We told our family to give them the opportunity to still come to Mexico or not. It also gives those that weren't going to Mexico a chance to see us exchange our vows.

Were not having a wedding party. We anticipate only about 8 people coming anyway. I agree with your reasoning.

Hi everyone! I was wondering, for those who had a legal ceremony, if they actually kept a copy of the certified birth certificate? I know they use it to translate to Spanish, but do they give it back when they are finished and just keep the Spanish one? My FI and I aren't happy with that because of the whole ID theft issue. With the type of work I do I see ID theft all the time and a US certified birth certificate is in high demand in South America. Just wondering, we might have to go the symbolic route. Thanks!

I remember you had a very modest budget. Were you able to stick to your budget? I'm just wondering if after getting there you decided to change things. I'm hoping to stick to my budget. Thanks!

like the heat?

I have the same issue with finding brides getting married at Sun Palace. What I've seen and heard is that the same vendors, officiants, and photographers are used at all the palace resorts. I've been following the Moon Palace threads, but it would be nice to see more pictures from the other Palace resorts. I was also considering Beach Palace because the Sky bar is fantastic. We settled on Sun Palace because its adults only. I can't wait to see some reviews from Beach and Cancun Palace.

I'm looking forward to my Dad walking me down the aisle. I do understand why you want to walk alone and I think you should. Just state what you want to do and don't let anyone make you feel bad about it. I think its great when the bride is just standing there by herself walking down the aisle, the pictures are great! Thank you Maureen! You are so right! Your marriage is completely legal. I know it may feel uncomfortable carrying your marriage certificate with you without the reassurance that it’s filed in the US, but it’s not necessary. Ask anyone who has immigrated from another country with their Italian, Spanish, Russian marriage certificates…they are legal and can be used to get an SSN, passport, DL etc. Your best bet is to start with the federal government agencies (ie SSN, state department) to change your name than go to the state and have it changed. No worries about insurance companies etc, they’ve seen marriage certificates from so many different countries that all things will be fine. You do not have to get married again in your state, unless you want to have a marriage license on file. The gay marriage thing is not comparing apples to apples.

Wow! I think 18 is really young to get married. I too would never have considered marrying anyone at the age, but everyone is different. I wanted to finish college, travel and enjoy life as a “free” adult. I hope things work out for you and you don’t regret not being single as an adult. I’m sure you’ve thought about all these things and it’s really what you want. My advice is to let people know that you’ve thoroughly thought about it and you’re ready for the challenge.
