Hey Ladies, Sorry I haven't been on in a while since my wedding, but just a little update on the marriage license/name change situation with a Mexican marriage license. It all worked seamlessly! I didn't have to have it translated at all. If you go to the SS office first, that is the best bet. They have Spanish speaking people there for all the Hispanics in the states, so they are perfectly able to find somebody to translate it there. All they need off of it is the location, date, and a certificate number off of your license. I took both papers in...the one with our parents' information, and the other one with our witnesses' information. I actually just walked the lady through it in English, pointing out the different areas of the license where she needed information. It all went through just fine, only took about 10 minutes in total. Once my SS card came in the mail a week later, I took it in to get my drivers license. I took in my new SS card, and my marriage license. They basically only needed the SS card, and said all was good. And this is Nebraska....I'm sure it'd be even easier in Texas with the large Hispanic population. Basically, the most trouble I had was at my bank. They didn't have anyone in the entire bank system that could read my marriage license, so I just had to wait for my drivers license and SS card in order to change my name on my account. Hope that helps!

I really wanted a turquoise aisle runner though (pouts) lol Ooh yeah good question on locations. I might have my bridesman (yes man) take the shots for me, but have no idea where to go. The pails of sand would probably work...but you would need a LOT of them. I would say every 2 or 3 feet probably, and you'd need them on both sides of the aisle. It all depends on the wind. I was there 8 days, and not one of the days would an aisle runner have stayed down by itself. The red carpet they have is just that....heavy carpet. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change what I did for anything. My girls had pink dresses and shoes and I didn't want the red carpet at all, but now looking back, I'm okay with it. It wasn't as bad as I imagined. I'm just glad you could see our monogram on the runner in all of our pictures...it made it worth it.

I will tell you about my aisle runner though since it was my favorite thing. I ordered it online without my fiance knowing, and hauled it to Mexico in a huge box with all the gift bags. He still didn't know. Well after a bunch of hassle getting it through customs (they wanted to charge me tax on my big box of stuff they thought i wanted to sell)...I finally got to the resort with it. It was a heavy weight runner, much heavier than one Lilia showed me that someone wanted to use. This one was on a roll and more of a thick net almost, not like a lacy fabric or anything. Lili went to put it out for me, and the wind blew it everywhere. They tried candles holding it down, tried pinning it to the red carpet, they tried everything. They ended up having to roll it up and only let the runner go to the bottom of the steps (i got married in the gazebo). Any further and the wind kept catching it. It turned out really neat for my pictures though because the monogram was in all my pictures then, but it was a huge pain for them to get to stay down. So I guess my advice is....if you really want it, make sure it's as heavy of a material as you can get, and be aware that on a super windy day there will be nothing that will hold it down. I will try to include a few pictures to show you what I mean. I'm not very good with shutterfly, but here is a link to a shared account I created with a few pictures in it of the aisle runner and us. Hope this helps. http://justinashleywedding.shutterfly.com/

Does anyone know what is meant by the dress code "long pants"? That is how the restaurant dress code for men is written on the Royal website. Does this include jeans? I'm not talking the tattered and torn kind, but just regular jeans. I know my FI would be very pleased if he didn't have to wear dress pants every night to go eat. Thanks!

Does anyone know how far it is from the Royal to La Cueva del Chango? I can see on the map that it only looks like a couple blocks away, but how big are the blocks!? My grandparents are coming and I was just curious if it truly is within walking distance, or if we will need to get taxis or a shuttle or something. Does anyone know if the resort has a shuttle? We are hoping to do a dinner at La Cueva del Chango the night before the wedding by we don't want to do it unless we can make sure everyone has transportation if it is too far to walk.

Thank you! I am being passed off to the Mexico coordinators now...so hopefully they will give me a different answer. I told Aja I only wanted 2 shrimp on each plate, she said that was still $15. I think they have lost their mind. I'm hoping it is mis-communication between Michigan and Mexico...I guess time will tell! She also told me it was $20 per person to upgrade to warm appetizers instead of the cold ones. I pushed back on that 3 times telling her how ridiculous that was and she finally said she was looking at the wrong line and it was really only $5 per person to upgrade. I still think $5 is more than it should be....but at least it's reasonable!

Okay, I'm drawing a blank now on who mentioned it, but I think maybe jesmcan...how much extra were they going to charge to add jumbo shrimp on top of the beef filet for the dinner? Aja just told me it would be $15 per resort guest and $30 non resort guest. I'm talking about like 2 or 3 shrimp each...not a whole plate!!! I just think that is outrageous!

I have a little update on Suzanna. She is on a "family leave" and they are not sure if she will return. When I called, Aja answered the phone and knew who I was and all about my wedding. She said that she is covering my wedding for Suzanna until she returns, if ever. She gave me more information than I had before. I had no idea my checklist was supposed to be turned in 60 days prior (which is like today!). I'm glad I called!

I signed my original contract before the vendor fee was increased. Then I changed my package after that and they still honored the $100 vendor fee that was in place when I signed my first contract. Just make sure you say something so that they are sure to write it in your new contract, otherwise the default is for the $300 fee.
