  1. I LOVE these! Your guests are going to be so impressed! I'm getting married in July but I love Christmas, I might have to steal your fantastic idea! Where did you get the stamp made? I'd love detailed instructions if you have a free min to send me some! [email protected] thanks!!!
  2. Jeesh that is crazy! Are you using Taiflora for your florist? You could contact them or any other florists down there to get a quote to decorate the gazebo (other than the tulle that I believe is included). If you want flowers for the gazebo I would try to contact someone bc it would stink if you got down there and they were already booked up and couldn't help you!!
  3. @susan'n'dean - I read that at one brides wedding the DJ played her CDs that she burned for the reception at the disco after the reception was over...so he might! Definitely worth a try!!
  4. Thanks Kimberly! I didn't pay for the brochures. My TA contacted the resort and they sent her 20 really nice brochures for the resort (I sent them to my guests who were more likely to come), then just made double sided copies to send to everyone else. Â
  5. oh Tris- what a bummer!!! I bugged Beverly non stop until I had confirmation about our date so I hope she just didn't say yes just to shut me up! lol. I'm glad you didn't have to change your date, that would be ridiculous, esp since it was their fault. Good job staying positive, I'm sure everything will be great from here on out!! Â But I agree with everyone- Beverly has been insanely difficult to get a hold of. I emailed her 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard back. And all I really want to know is when (and how much) I need to put money down for our wedding... She said that the date is booked but I figured they would want some money to make sure we dont cancel or something - not that we would, stds are out and theres no looking back now!!!! Hopefully she's just really busy right now but will catch up on her emails soon!
  6. congrats to the new GBP brides, sooo exciting, your weddings will be here so soon!! Â I finally got my Boarding Pass STDs out, wohoo!! I just posted a thread about with more pics them but I'll post a quick pic so you ladies can see them too Â
  7. Hi Ladies! Thanks to all of your input I am finally finished with my Boarding Pass STDs!! They went out last week and everyone loved them. They definitely took a long time to create but it was worth it! I designed them in Word and had them printed at Kinkos on metallic pearlescent cardstock that I ordered from Paperandmore.com. Not sure if you can tell from the pics but the pearlescent cardstock was really neat and all the white areas on our STD are shimmery! I created sleeves out of metallic gold linen cardstock (also from paperandmore.com) and tied them with palm raffia that I threaded through the back so that it would stay with the sleeve once it was opened. I perforated the ‘passenger receipt’ part of the boarding pass and attached a magnet on the back so that my guests could keep that part on their fridge (if the boarding pass was too big). I included a brochure from our resort and put it all in a razzle pink #10 envelope that I decorated with a gold palm tree (stamp and pad from Michaels). Finished it off with personalized stamps created at zazzle.com with our date and name. They turned out to be about $2.75 per STD. That price included cardstock, envelopes, 2 stamps per STD, printing costs, and raffia). I didn’t add in any equipment that I had to buy to make them since I’ll be using it for all my DIY wedding stuff. Not bad imo! Boarding Pass STDs Its shimmery!!  Boarding Pass and passenger receipt magnet Sleeve Front Sleeve Back Sleeve and contents Save the Date!! 8. I definitely recommend GBP!!! I was totally settled on IRHS too but they were way to expensive and after looking into it more and reading reviews I didn't get a super fun resort feel from them, it sort of felt more like a conference center lol..thats when I started looking into GBP and loved it! The gazebo is what really hooked me, its fabulous and away from naked ppl!! A few extra details about weddings at the resort: They do 1 to 2 weddings per day, but most brides have said they don't even see that many when they are there. You can rent out the wedding gazebo for $500 from 8:30to 10:30pm, including a DJ for your receptin which is super awesome. However, you have to pay $15p/p/hour for a bar to be setup down there. According to other brides the closest bar is well..not close. So its worth the money for the bar setup. If you want a private dinner it is $2500. I'm not sure of the hours but if you want to have your reception at one of the restaurants instead of the gazebo, that is an option. The dinner included in the package is pretty private though, they set you up in one portion of the restaurant and section it off (or so I've read) so its not just in the middle of the restaurant with the other guests watching you. Also, GBP does not charge a fee for bringing outside vendors in, so you can bring your own photographer, florist...whatever at no extra charge (Sandals and other resorts charge big time for bringing outside vendors). Â And definitely ignore the trip advisor reviews! If you read any of the reviews from other brides that got married there you'll realize that the trip advisor reviews are a little ridiculous. There are some great reviews from brides in the GBP threads, def check them out. I originally looked into the resort bc of the wedding gazebo but fortunately it is super affordable, compared to similar resorts in Jamiaca. So I totally recommend it! It'll be great to have another GBP bride on the forum Good luck choosing!
  9. Hey Kerrij! So nice to hear from you, hope the pregnancy is going great!! I have a totally random question... For your reception at the gazebo, did you actually dance in the gazebo or do they set up an area with lights or something to the side in the sand? It just doesn't look super huge so I wasn't sure if it could hold many people dancing. Sorry if that is a dumb question but I'm just not sure what to expect. Also, are there lights down there at night? Â Thanks!!!!!! love the pics!
  10. I am planning to do one with Brooke Bready hopefully this fall. I actually got an awesome Groupon deal with her for an hour shoot for only $60 and she gives you a disk of the images. She is based in Frederick and has experience doing boudoir shoots, check her out! Her prices are very reasonable. Â http://brookebready.com/index2.php
  11. We haven't even gotten to book our stay yet bc the rates just came out for next July when we'll be there. We've been waiting FOREVER for them to release the rates so I'm so happy they finally did!! Now I can send out my save the dates this week and ppl can start booking...YAY!!!!!!!!!! Â I haven't really heard good things about the resort photographer. I read somewhere that the photographer never even showed up for the wedding until after the ceremony (luckily they had brought their own). You don't have to pay anything extra to bring in an outside vendor so we are flying our photographer in with us. She is awesome and I can't wait!! I had also asked Beverly if I could sub something for the photographer and she told me no, however I read about other brides being able to so I'll ask sooner to the date. Â As for flowers, I read that Jans was cheapest as well. I wish I could find a local market day of or day before that I could go to and get great flowers for super cheap and just make something out of them but I haven't been able to find anything like that yet unfortunately. I think I'll just suck it up and pay for the extra bridal party flowers from wherever but as for decorations and stuff I'm not spending money on flowers, especially since noone can even take them home after. I'm thinking of doing pictures and basic but pretyt stuff for the tables and then just getting pretty colored toulle for the gazebo and chairs during the ceremony. And for the reception at the gazebo, I want to use luminaries, either with candles or those electronic luminaries you can get from Michaels for a few bucks. Â Â @missy&eric2011- very pretty BM dresses, they will look so pretty in the colors you described!!!
  12. Great thread! Maui sounds fantastic and I'm sure your guests loved it!!!! Love the colors and favors!! And all of your outfits
  13. Great thread! THanks for all the pics and info, I'm sure your wedding was amazing and that your guests really enjoyed everything you put together for them! Love the dress and e-ring, gorgeous!
  14. Hey Erin! Thanks for all the info, its always helpful having someone who has actually been to the resort before! I know you were talking about a map, where did you find it (or if you have a copy from the resort, could you attach it here?) I'd love to figure out the layout but haven't been able to find a map yet. Â Did you see other weddings there? If so, what did you think? Any suggestions or heads up for us of anything that we should know (wedding or just about the resort in general). That is awesome news about the snorkeling, my fiance and I love to snorkel and I was worried about that! Did you do any excursions around the island when you were there? We wanted to take everyone on a sunset cruise or something like that but aren't sure yet. Â Thanks for your help and congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!
  15. Just saw your post... tell your guests to RELAX. lol, I mean as long as they know to show up at xx time for the ceremony, why does it really matter what order everything is happening in, were they planning to do something else that day? Just tell them the ceremony is at xx time and dinner is at (most likely) 6:30...No need for you to panic over it!!!! Â
  16. missy&eric2011- haha thats so funny! Actually I've been on vacation visiting fam and we had a friends wedding to go to and work has been crazy so haven't had a chance to log on in a while...it was killing me! lol. I've been working awful hours this week and next and it sucks bc I want to get my save the dates out..grr! Hopefully I can work on them on Sunday! Love the music picks btw, those are great!! Â JMarie, thanks so much for your review and the pics!!! It looks like your wedding was beautiful and I love your dress! Congrats! Â Beverly told me that you can bring in outside venders at no additional cost so you can use a different florist if you want. I think if you go to the tai flora (or whatever its called) website, they have examples of bouquets that I'm assuming are similar to what we get to choose from. I'm not a big fan of fake flowers, but I also don't really want to dish out a bunch of money on the guys bouts since none of them care anyway, so is anyone using something other than flowers? I've seen girls use feathers or shells...so I was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas. As for centerpieces, I'm not sure what to do. I originally wanted to do the floating candles/ orchids in vases of water but like some of you said before, I am stressing over the thought of bringing down vases...what a pain! So I'm tossing around the idea of using pictures of use instead. Pics of when we were little all the way up to now and put them in pretty matching frames, having them on the tables and surrounding the frames with shells or stones, petals...something like that. And then adding some candles around as well. But idk, we have plenty of time to figure it out but thats just an idea that I was thinking about. Â Anyway, my laptop is dying so got to go! Great to see everyone so involved on this thread!!!!
  17. Hey girls! I haven't had time to post in a while but welcome to all the new gbp brides! So exciting to have more on the forum. I totally agree about the dj, what's the point if I'm bringing my own music anyway?? What songs are "musts" on your playlists?? Would love some suggestions! I found a great site to share with you all... www.oyster.com. they have reviews of hotels & resorts and tons of pictures! Search for gbp and they have a great detailed review of everything at the resort and over 100 pics that you won't find on gbp's website...its amazing!
  18. Hmm I will definitely have to find out more info about bringing our own booze. That would be way cheaper! Beverly told me that dinner is at 6:30 and I asked if we could do it earlier and she never really answered me so I'm not totally sure about that. She made it sound like its 6:30, no earlier...
