Hi Lisa, First of all, I want to say that your wedding pictures look absolutely beautiful! You are a gorgeous bride As for the gastric bypass surgery, my mom just got that done in December and she has lost over 30 lbs already. At the same time, she can never really enjoy a normal meal again. If her portions are too big, she gets nauseous and sometimes vomits, and she has to take nutritional supplements for the rest of her life. But her diabetes has drastically improved and we are optimistic that her overall health will be better in the long run. I don't think a drastic measure such as surgery is warranted unless there are other serious health conditions in the picture. But when the risks of surgery are outweighed by the risks of doing nothing, then I think that is something to consider. I believe cougs posted accurate information in that you need to be at least 100 lbs overweight and have other health issues, etc. You also need to demonstrate that you have tried other methods of losing weight and dieting and that surgery is pretty much a final option. Anyways, aside from all that, I just wanted to say hi to the Curvacious ladies out there, as I am also on the curvy side and trying to lose some weight (yay for BDW biggest loser!). Great thread and it's nice to see such a supportive group of women

Thanks ladies! I'm better today and eating well so far. And despite how bad we were yesterday or the day before, I do believe that every minute is another chance to turn it all around and be good.

Honeymoon Phase...what honeymoon phase?
Oryx replied to Karen Aucoin's topic in Just venting or funnies
I'd like to echo all of the comments above me and also send my support! I think communication is the absolute most important factor in a relationship, and maybe it's time for a serious conversation about these issues. He needs to know how much this is affecting your relationship. Best wishes and hugs! -
Ugh... I had an awful couple of days. I had some minor (mostly diagnostic) day surgery on Friday and my FI convinced me that I must eat well in order to heal quickly! So to me, that turned into eating badly and not exercising for the past few days. Anyways, lean meat and veggies for dinner for me tonight, and tomorrow will be better too...

Hi Brendali, Sorry to hear about your situation, how frustrating! I am also hoping to book the Majestic Colonial and got a similar e-mail about booking February 2011 (she said to resubmit my request in February 2010). Is it possible that there was a miscommunication? Maybe she got confused and reread the e-mail and thought it was about May 2010? I don't know... this is kind of freaking me out now too!

Only married 7 weeks and heading for divorce :(
Oryx replied to Sparkles8300's topic in Just venting or funnies
I'm so sorry that you are going through this -- hugs! Although you must be going through hell right now, I hope your hubby comes to his senses and does whatever it takes to win your trust back. Guys say really stupid things sometimes and hopefully that is all it was... and if that is the case, I hope something positive can come out of this (i.e he learns how to act appropriately as a married man and grows up). Wishing you all the best. -

Partly because of the sweating, but also because I have found that what I eat before I go really affects how much I want to throw up or pass out so I eat much healthier and much less on those days haha Good luck! I find that I don't have a huge appetite for dinner when I go in the evenings either. So I usually have something light, like soup or something. Double bonus!

Awesome job ladies, congrats!!!

Way to go, girls! I agree that any loss is awesome, and 1% every week can really add up. Sometimes I like to add some fruit in with plain vanilla yogurt (mmm blueberries and banana). I also like the light cheese string things (they are like 60 calories). Sometimes I'll also eat some almonds or something (like 10 or so) to help fill me up. And then I also munch on cucumbers when I want to snack... when I'm good that is

Very funny!

Good work ladies! I did alright this week as well. I figure any loss is great. I am also realizing that I am most vulnerable to eat badly when I don't get enough sleep. I was exhausted yesterday at work and it was almost more than I could manage to avoid the cookies that were available during an afternoon meeting. A good sleep definitely helps.

That is just horrible and this sort of thing in hockey has to stop. So sorry to hear about your friend Natasha -- my thoughts are with him. -
I'm almost finished the Book of Negroes -- an excellent story, although difficult and depressing to read at times.

I have just started, so we'll see how I do at the end of my first month. And yeah, we should definitely have a Toronto get together! I saw one organized in another thread for the summer I think... maybe it's time to do another

Although I still have a valid student card, so I want to purchase more classes before that expires! I go to the North York studio near Yonge & Sheppard -- you?

Well I failed the alcohol challenge tonight.... damned tasty martinis. But tomorrow is another day!

I am also aiming for February 2011. Congrats ladies!

Manders and LeAnne -- I can only imagine how tough that would be with the extra food restrictions. It's hard enough to eat healthy as it is! But so far I am off to a great start. Today is day 6 of a low carb diet and I also did 45 min on the elliptical last night and 100 crunches! Now I need to increase my water intake and overcome the weekend challenges (i.e. eating out and alcohol). Looks like a great group. I feel very motivated!

The office is the worst... stay strong! People here are still bringing in leftover holiday chocolates...

Thanks again Natasha for taking the time to host! And looking at our horrible pictures, haha. We really appreciate it ~Renée

Congrats and welcome from a fellow Torontonian! I would like to get married in Punta Cana as well but haven't booked a resort yet -- check out the Dominican forums for lots of great information. Happy planning!
