If you have some qualms about Bikram, check out Moksha. From what I understand, they broke off from Bikram for similar reasons.
  2. Congrats ladies! QueenDiva -- your post was very motivating and I hope I can do the same. I was very good yesterday. I went to the gym and made a low-carb pasta for dinner with meat sauce and some salad. Has anyone every tried this Dreamfields low-carb pasta before? My mom gave it to me to try, and I must say it tastes pretty much the same as regular pasta. https://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/ca...7294a7a426574f Hope everyone is having a good start to their week!
  3. I agree, you really did have the best eyes. I voted on all of the pictures. Very nice work! Makes me want to get some done before the wedding.
  4. I'd be upset... I'd confront her and see what she has to say. And like svetayasofiya said, life is too short -- drop this excess baggage and don't let it get you down.

You can either write them on paper and read it yourself, or you can get the co-ordinator to read it for you. (Maritee did for me anyway). 3 - You can rent any area and not get the open bar. Keep in mind, that you only get the section for 2 hours though (8-10) 4 - don't know 5 - you can do the cake whenever you want. Just let them know. 6 - The resort does not translate your documents. Which documents are you talking about? You need to have any documentation prepared before you get to the resort. Hope this helps?! congrats! khomac, thanks for all of the great information and advice. It's so nice to see brides like yourself coming back and helping out newer brides plan their weddings. I've bookmarked several of your posts and links. Many thanks!
  6. Congrats and welcome! You'll find lots of great information on this forum. My cousin got married at Dreams Tulum and loved it. Happy planning!
  7. Congrats and welcome to the forum! Be careful though, this forum can be addictive, haha. Happy planning
  8. Congrats Jen! I am also from Toronto and looking at Punta Cana. Check out the Dominican Republic board, there is lots of info there. Happy planning!
  9. Glad this worked out for you -- I'm a little worried about running into a similar situation. I already have family members asking me to change the month due to the high season prices in February...
  10. I'd like to echo the other ladies here and send out my support! I've taken on a couple of side jobs, but nothing like what you are doing. Mad props to you for having the energy and commitment to make your dreams happen. I hope your FI steps up as well to help you out. Just know that it will be over soon and you will have the most amazing wedding day. With regards to the hazards of the deli, would it be possible to switch to something else, such as cash? In any case, good luck and we are rooting for ya!
  11. I did 45 minutes on the elliptical last night too, plus 100 crunches. Tonight I'll do the treadmill and weights (arms).
  12. I agree with the above comments -- most people don't even bother with a review unless they had an exceptional experience (mostly bad). Some of them are funny though... like their whole vacation was ruined by a scratch in the paint. Don't worry it -- you will be with your friends and loved ones and everyone will have an amazing time! How often do you get the most important people in your life all together for an amazing vacation? It will be great.

Should we try for a pub, sit-down restaurant, or coffee shop? Please submit your feedback! I'm envisioning we all meet and share how our plans are going or for those who have already wed, share your experiences and tips. Sounds good! Thanks for organizing, Bikegirl. Maybe a new poll might help with the date? Downtown or mid-Toronto sounds good. And I'm up for all of those options -- but maybe a drink would be nice to toast all of our upcoming or past weddings!
  14. Very frustrating situation! I hope it turns out alright... please do post pictures when you can. Good luck! I'm sure you will look fabulous.

Hope you're feeling better, Tifany! I've finished all of my classes now and trying to decide if I should sign up for more... I love going but I'm torn because of the cost and my need to save for the wedding now!
  16. I'm planning my wedding for February 2011 as well and I plan to send out a STD e-mail next week. That way people will have a year to plan and save. I have not confirmed the date with the resort, so we are going to say "February 2011" and direct people to our wedding website for updates. Formal invites to follow in the spring. Good luck and congrats!
  17. I agree with the other ladies as well. You have every right to be mad and I hope he understands that when he is sober and sees the error of his ways.

Depending on the demand, there may be no direct flights from Halifax at the time of my wedding, so guests may have to fly to Toronto first to get to Punta Cana. I think the risk for me is slight, and most will be coming from Toronto anyways, so we shall see.

Yes, I am thinking that myself, but still undecided. So many decisions to make! I've also contacted Michael and Phil Steingard to ask about possibly booking one of them for the photographer, so if anyone else is interested in the first week of February 2011, let's keep in touch! (I'll put something in my siggy if we do book with them for sure, and maybe we can share the costs.)
  20. I keep bouncing around the same 5 pounds and it's driving me crazy! I MUST do better this weekend... alcohol is my problem as well and I have decided to completely abstain this weekend.
  21. I found some pictures of the ceremony spots, reception locatoins, bouquets, etc. I am still undecided about the gazebo or the beach. Picasa Web Albums - Weddingbymajestic...
  22. Wow, I never would have thought of turquoise and red, but wow, they look amazing together. Love that website! The Perfect Palette I think I'm leaning towards turquoise/aqua and coral/orange or something like that...
  23. Hey ladies! I am also hoping to get married at the Majestic Colonial in February, 2011. I'm just waiting until next week to e-mail them again to hopefully secure a date with the judge. I would prefer to have the real wedding there with our friends and family; however, if the process becomes too tedious or the dates and times are too restrictive, I am not totally against a symbolic ceremony. We shall see. So, have all the brides-to-be decided on the beach or gazebo? What else are you planning?
  24. I gained this week, but it was a bad week and I am not surprised. Today was a good day though and I am back on the wagon!
  25. Hey Toronto neighbour, congrats!!! That's awesome
